I play with a lot of electronics and build a few thing. You should try using hot glue gun to keep those wires from touching. It would work perfect. Or idk if u can solder it.

Voltage is a measure of electrical potential and current is a measure of electron flow rate. Knowing this now we can say It's not the electrical potential(voltage) that kills you it's the flow of electrons(current) through your body that does you wrong. If high voltage alone killed then dead birds would be raining from the power lines (Primary lines are 7200 Volts.) I guess is a way to put it.

Having said that 5000 volt is extremely high voltage, and will create very high current in most bodies without very good insulation.

@tardisomga Volts aren't what kill you it's the amps. Think of VOLTS as the driving force of AMPS. The higher the VOLTS the harder it pushes the amps and the less amps it takes to kill you. A stun gun carries 50,000 Volts however it doesn't have the amps to kill even if you have a pacemaker. (YES I KNOW SOME PPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED FROM TASERS.) However, a 110V circuit can kill you almost instantly. AND110 IS NOT MORE DANGEROUS THAN A LETS SAY 440 ITS JUST 110 IS MORE COMMON AND KILLS MORE PPLE.

It's a lot easier to discharge the capacitor with a resistor with a high wattage rating(10 watts or more), and it's faster too.

at the begining trying to discharge the capasitor, in stead of using a screwdriver what you should do is put a small electric motor with a resistor soldered to one of the leads on it. the motor will spin untill there's no more electricity.

Simple... ive made several... just take a bug zapper, rip off the top leave the 2 wirse exposed fold metal or tinfoil over each one speratly and then bam, press the button connect the 2 on somebod's body and they receive a shock, still be careful even double a battereis make your muscles serge, try putting it on your elbow youll see,If that doesn't do it for you just up the charge move up to C or D batteries just dont try a car batterie that will really F someone up...
