The problem with Lucas is that he doesn't score sometimes or has the ability to give a long pass, like other players similiar for his posistion ( xabi alonso or Scholes).

Lucas came to LFC from gremio as an attacking midfielder after he receive Golden Ball Award in Campeonato Brasileiro but after seing him play rafa benitez sees him better as a holding midfielder and turn out to be a great one. again benitez is the best coach LFC going to get. his judgement was magnificent but LFC performance in his last season was purely bad because of that 2 assholes american. look at the squad when LFC finish second spot. one of the best at that time

The problem with Lucas is that he doesn't score sometimes or has the ability to give a long pass, like other players similiar for his posistion ( xabi alonso or Scholes).
Other than that he's become very important the last few years! hope he stays and keeps improving :)

He is not a player like Xabi or Scholes who cross magnicifent passes. He is a player who wins the ball from the opponent and disturbes the opponent's build-up-play. It's like saying Suarez is not a good defender, it's not his job.

@mrGutic thing is he was an attacking mid when rafa bought him, and for some reason I dunno was converted into a DM. Yet he still excelled at that despite being criticized for entire seasons, and is now near world class. What a demonic beast of a character. Easily the most important player in the team, even above Suarez.

You guys also have to remember Lucas was brought to Liverpool as an attacking midfielder. Which is where he played and was scouted for Gremio. Ultimately he is just a total-footballer plays both ways but as of the last 2-3 years has really had the duty to sit deeper. What a fantastic player.

@prashanta2008 okay firstly lucas is the importantast player on the field for whatever team he plays for. yes, you are right his attacking skill is not the best but his defencive mind is amazing. you see him play thinking awwh he hasnt done shit but watch how he plays making a meter of a movement can effect alot in football he has to hold his whole midfield from getting torn apart without him liverpool could concede soooo much more goals. he has to be in the best place every time.. read page 2
