  • Please reply me sum1!!!

  • When I added the surgical spirit the mixture turned cloudy white?!?!? Is it safe to use?!?

  • @yeaway23 Ya it's supposed to be cloudy! =) By surgical spirit do you mean the alcohol?

  • @snowbunnygaelach thanks for replying!i used surgical spirit bp...antiseptic/disinfectant. it turned cloudy straight when i poured it in....how come enkore's was clear?!?!?im afraid to use it lol

  • @yeaway23 Mine is cloudy also! I think that is more to do with the shampoo, conditioner or dish detergent to be honest. I'd say his isn't as clear as it appears on camera, the camera probably distorts the picture a bit since he didn't have a very good camera then. Don't worry, cloudy is normal =) I've been making my own for a long time(I'm a working makeup artist also) and it's always been cloudy!

  • is thr an alternative to the leave in conditioner?

i do have one bt it aint the spray kind. its the cream kind. will that work?

  • @Seahorse802 No! You're not!!

  • @ rockerBaby2003 thanks but do u rise ur brushes with water after that or no?

  • Send by Emily I have a question do I need to wash the brushes after spraying or how :)

  • @Prettyfantacy To use this, I put mine in a travel spray bottle. I spray a clean paper towel with it and rub my brush bristles on it.

  • quick questionn for you?? do i need to watch off my brushes after i spray them with that?

  • is this safe for spot cleaning? :) or do you have to wash it off?

  • Emily sent me here:)

  • Sent by Emily!

  • Wont conditioner clog ur pores if there os any residue left on your brushes?

  • @mellove24 i was wondering that too, but it's only a small amount, maybe leave it out if you're not sure.

  • Would this have an expiration date?

  • can I use rubbing alchohol??

  • can I use actual alcohol like vodka or something? Or where do I get that kind? thanks! :)

  • @Katehead92 at a drug store! target, walgreens etc

  • Emily sent me

  • Emily sent me!

  • like this if emily sent you(:

  • Can this be used to spot c

  • THANKS KOREN!

  • Wouldn't antibacterial soap and olive oil work instead?

  • @Mahrahia Oil and water don't mix so the oil wouldn't mix into the mixture it would stay in little bubbles and therefore wouldn't get onto your brushes.

  • This is so great, thanks so much! I just made this today and I love it, it works just as well as my previous Mac cleaner did (if not better in some regards, it seems to clean up oily type stuff like foundations out of the brushes better than the Mac did).

    Awesome and so cheap! ^_^

(I used this just like the Mac one so there is no need to rinse it off afterward and it helps if you use brushes daily rather than doing a full clean every day with shampoo and stuff).

  • So I am extremely allergic to dish soap. Can I use regular hand soap or extra shampoo to make up the difference?

  • @sfhoiean Just make sure it some sort of antibacterial/grease (oil) fighting soap.

  • I tried this, but i put 1/2 tbsp cream leave in conditioner instead of 1 tbsp liquid leave in conditioner since i don't have it and that works wonders...

thnx a looooooot i always learn something from you <3

  • I love you Koren! You're like the make-up "MacGuyver".

  • can i use this as a spot cleaner?

  • @AlterRealityFilms it pretty much is a spot cleaner, so yes. :)

  • i put olive oil instead of the conditioner, is that ok, and should i wash them with water after this or just let them dry??

  • @AlterRealityFilms Have you tried with the olive oil instead of the liquid conditioner? How does it work?

  • can i subsititute the leave in conditioner with olive oil?

  • OMG.. I really, really love your videos.. They are very helpful!!!..

  • hi EnKore, i just wanted to thank you for sharing this. this brush cleaner works great!

  • can you just use normal leave in conditioner? or does it have to be a spray one? PLEASE HELP

  • @beautybella01 He said to use a liquid conditioner instead of a gel or lotion one, so I would assume a spray one would be the only choice. Pantene makes a detangler with leave in conditoner in it and it's a spray. I'm going to try that since the other leave in conditioner I have is a cream one. I don't think the conditioner is a must though, since it's just to keep the bristles soft and whatnot. Dish detergent has conditioners in it so that might be enough.

  • That's cool ! Gonna try it. Thanks for sharing.

  • This really works.

  • This cleanser is so amazing Love love love it I just cleaned my brushes and they look so great and are so clean!! THANKS! :)

  • Do you use this to wash them or to disinfect them between uses?

  • Can I just say this is the BEST makeup cleanser I've ever used. I just made it and cleansed my brushes.. they never looked better. I did use witch hazel over alcohol and was fine. Gracias Enkore!

  • Does anybody know if you can use witch hazel over alcohol?

  • is this the cleanser you use after you deep clean your brushes?? was this was you sprayed on your brush in that video?

  • Also after using this cleanser do you still need to rinse your brushes or can you just wipe em over with this mixture and finish? thanks x

  • Hi...Instead of using purfied/bottled water...would boiled water be okay?

  • I love your tips !!!

  • hye dude i sorry if i been mean to you ijust want to say that im sorry

  • Good video, and now that im getting new brushes im looking forward ti make it.

  • Too kewl thank you so much saves my husband a bundle of money

  • What is the alcohol stuff called in the uk and where can I get it? lol. Really, really, really want to try this!! lol :)

  • @amandajuk I just use surgical spirit :-) It's essentially alcohol, it's what they call 'rubbing alcohol' in the US.

  • This actually works VERY well. I just made it with 70% alcohol, purified drinking water, 1 tbs of infusium 23, and 1 tbs (J&J baby shampoo, Giovanni tea tree shampoo, and Ajax dish soap mixed all equal parts to make 1 tbs). I cleaned one white bristle brush with Mac's cleaners n another one with this cleanser and it work just ass good. It got the bristles whiter than the Mac cleanser.

  • Thank you Koren! This homemade remover really does work well.

  • Just a little shortcut... I use the baby shampoo+conditioner so I don't need the leave-in.

  • does anyone know about how many oz this makes? thanks :)

  • @punkrockerangel14 about little under 12 oz/ 1.5 cups

  • is this for spot or deep cleansing ?

  • thumbs up if you're watching this in 2011 :D

  • I have to make another batch of this. It's awesome and free :)

  • Tried and love it but the smell is icky. I used a dish soap that was green apple. Was that a bad choice ?

  • Can you spot clean with this. I use alot of eyeshadow colors and would like to keep the bulid up down before my deep clean.

  • I used this on brushes that I just cleaned with my MAC brush cleaner. You wouldn't believe the filth that came off of them! This stuff is amazing!

  • thank u so much 4 this video:)

  • meth labs these days.........:/

  • I use VO5 shampoo to clean my brushes.

  • Thank you!

  • by alcohol do you mean like nail polish remover type things?

  • @bleedingmarshmallow Oh dear, please don't use nail polish remover to make this. He's talking about rubbing alcohol, which you can get at a drug store.

  • @sacricolist oh thank god. i was thinking like how would nail polish remover work?? LOL. thanks anyway

  • @bleedingmarshmallow no rubbing alcohol

  • If anyone considers using REGULAR conditioner as a sub for the leave-in conditioner, DON'T!

Lol it makes it super cloudy and there will be clumps of conditioner floating around in the cleanser! :P

  • Im borrowing some baby shampoo from my family.. all they have is 2 in 1 shampoo.. can i use that too or do i have to have the seperate shampoo and conditioner???

  • I just tried this today. I did everything but added three drops of tea tree essential oil for anti bacterial anti fungal properties. My brushes smell wonderful and dry extremely quick. A lot quicker than the MAC cleanser. I will keep making this.

  • thankyou this really helped us!(: watch my channel please and thankyouu(:

  • love the intro music :)

  • What could you use in place of the alcohol?? Because I don't have any.

  • @cadyXcatastrophy67 i would think that alcohol is an important ingredient because it kills bacteria, i don't think theres a substitute for it :\

  • you don't even have to use the conditioner!:)

  • Great vid, thanks!

  • This is so good!! its so convenient. im in love with it. thx koren!

  • Just when I was headed to MAC to buy some brush cleaner Enkore saves the day!

  • why is a man making this

  • @VIDEOZAL welll then wtf is he

  • @VIDEOZAL maybe he is but that doesnt make him a bad person. he is my favorite youtube guru so dont make fun of him. we luv u koren!

  • @cutienails48 did I say he's a bad person? I didn't say that... What I said is that he's not a man that's all

  • @mileyfan101000 he's a makeup artist.

  • @keepitcoolx oh ok

  • THANK YOU !!! you save all my benjamin franklin :o)

  • Love it... U are so helpful koren ;D

  • Do we have to rinse it off or can i just wait for it to dry a use it??

  • I made your cleaner and it is great !!! I really liked the way you explained every product and why it is important to use in the cleaner.

  • do we really need to use spray on leave in conditioner i only have the lotion ones uncle koren

  • i love the way he pronounces is r's :)

  • Tarzan Music. FTW!

  • love love love this!

  • Koren sweety do u have an idea of how I can store my double ended brushes, I have quite a few that I love. I just need to find a good way to store them so they dont get damaged. I bought the elf brush holder and looove it, its perfect for my regular larger brushes and it was cheap but very nice looking but I cant use it for my small or double ended brushes, I have a ton of brushes from diff makers and they're also all diff sizes which is annoying cause they dont fit anywhere.

  • Hey is this all good for eyeliner brushes? It probably is, I'm just wondering about the conditioners near my eye...

  • Can you use regular conditioner rather than the leave in conditioner?

  • DO YOU HAVE TO WASH IT OUT???!?!?!? PLEASEEEEEEEE RESPOND!

  • you don't have to wash it out?! i mean there's still detergent in your brush after that right?

  • Hi!!

I have to say I just LOVE your cleanser!! i tried it today and it was exactly like the mac's brush cleanser videos!!

    Thanks a lot!

  • great recipe hun gonna make some tonite. once question tho... how often should i clean my brushes? afta every use?? thanx :)

  • for the shampoo would herbal essence or pantene work? this is awesome!

  • @cyrawolf I would recomend not using Pantene because it has TONS of wax in it.

It will leave a wax buildup on your brushes and you will have to rewash them to get rid of the wax. Herbal Essence will be fine. Hope that helped! :)

  • do i have to use a leave in conditioner? i dont have any :/

  • @alybaly13 i use olive oil, i use half the amount of how much leave in conditioner you would use and honestly its just as good

  • @alybaly13 you can just use a little bit of olive oil with dishsoap. then wash them with luke warm water. sit them upright, and let them dry, (:

  • @alybaly13 I use extra virgin olive oil! :)

  • @alybaly13 you could just use regular conditioner.

  • @alybaly13 The leave in conditioner is just to keep the bristles of your brush soft and to prevent breakage. It's not necessary to clean them but makes them last longer! :)

  • @alybaly13

no, I ´m sure you don´t, especially when the bristles of your brushes aren´t natural. One might even get a build up on the bristles if using conditioner too often, I think.

  • @alybaly13 regular shampoo works too! :)

  • @alybaly13 that is for the brushes' hairs. it helps a lot if the hairs are natural, but i'm not sure how it would work for plastic hairs. think about the effect of the leave in conditioner over somebody's hair. it works on the same principle. hope this helps.

  • @alybaly13 It's fine to go without. however leave in conditioner will make them soft and silky. Without the leave in treatment they may, and let me just point out the MAY, become dry and brittle. imagine your hair with shampoo but no conditioner.. strange texture.

  • @alybaly13 I actually didn't and it worked pretty well :) Hope I helped!

  • @alybaly13 if u use a dish soap with moisturizers in it like the one with olay you dont have to use the leave in conditioner!

  • @alybaly13 or just use a regular leav in conditioner in a jar or just a conditioner just make sure to stir it in!

  • if i cant find the alcohol, can i use nail polish remover to replace it?

  • @walk1708 Im not an expert, but NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! lol nail polish remover doesnt sound like a good idea hun

  • what if u dont have/use leave in conditioner?

  • INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE .. I LOVE IT :D

  • is this a spray one or like a shampoo to wash our brushes.. what can i use instead of the spray on conditioner to soften bristles ..?

  • Wow, this defo saves me spending $40 every few weeks for a MAC brush cleanser.

  • do you HAVE to use the leave-in conditioner? is there something else you can use instead of the conditioner? i dont have the conditioner so i need to know!

  • Is water like Evian or Spa purified?

  • great video! i was just wondering.. is it safe to use the dishwashing soap in it? if you use this on the eye brushes then wont it be bad for your eyes?

  • my prob..I dont think I have the alchohol theat you suggested can I use hand sanitizer?and do you need the spray on conditioner or is that optional?

  • how often should you clean your brushes?

  • thank you so much for the awesome video. Is this a daily cleanser or is it a weekly thorough cleanser? also does the brushes need to be rinsed after using the cleanser? please answer

  • this is really good. I like how you give detailed instructions as well as caveats for what happens if you do something incorrectly.

  • I've heard many good things about this recipe and I'm excited to use it, all I need to get is some leave in conditioner! For this brush cleaner, do you suggest to drop some on a napkin and then wipe the brushes, or to dip them into the solution? Thanks!

  • Wow, this is a great recipe. Thank you for the video. I just made it and cleaned all of my brushes and it worked beautifully. They dried fast, they're soft, and they are very clean. Merci :)

  • What about multi-purpose solution, that is used to take care of my eye lens? It desinfects, but it´s not strong, so can I use it?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH for this vid.

1 question tho, how often should i cleanse my brushes?

  • Can I just use tap water?

  • @jha123k0 you can definetley use tap water but you need to purify it first , do this by placing it on the stove till it bubbles and let it cool for like 5 minutes and use that:)

  • @MISHAL006 thank u!!

  • What do u think i can use instead of alcohol mine just ran out:(

  • wow thanks for the awesome video

  • GREAT recipe! Only one question....you HAVE to wash the brushes with water after that? Or is it ok to use them as soon as they dry.........anyone who knows?

  • @1LeiaPrincess I would rinse water over em after just in case to be on the safe side ! (:

  • @blondexpink Thanks for the answer! That's what i thought too! :)

  • @1LeiaPrincess just let them airdry and there as good as knew!

  • @familygirl819 Yeah, that's what i've been doing, thank you for the answer :))

  • @1LeiaPrincess I actually use this recipe as a spray on brush cleaning between makeup applications and save the deep clean (washing them with shampoo + conditioner then leave to dry) for every 3 days to a week of use.

  • @only1Kira @SarahGilmour Thanks guys!! I do the same after all :)

  • @1LeiaPrincess I dont wash them wit water... once their dry im ready to go!

  • @1LeiaPrincess Did you ever find out the answer? I'm curious too..

  • @StarElese hahahaha!!! Never found a definitive answer, but using my logic one shouldn't use on their eyes a tool that has alcohol and soap and stuff on it......BUT that's what i do hahahaha! And i never had a problem with it. I put that cleanser on a napkin , whirl tha brush on it, let it dry for a minute and then re-use it! Never had a problem on my eyes or something.Of course i thoroughly clean the brushes with shampoo and everything once-twice a week :)

  • @1LeiaPrincess hmmm I think you have to wash with water :S ... otherwise: shampoo and leave in condition on your bristles --> face?? xD

  • @hannahmatias I KNOW you are so right! But you know what, i just don't bother! hahaha! I need a quick-cleanser, the mac and make-up forever ones are ridiculously expensive for what they are (so simple cleansers) , on top of that i don't think they are more "soft" than this one for our face and besides It hasn't caused me any problem so far! I just swirl my brush on it , then swirl it on a wet napkin and i use it. :( I don't recommend it for other people, it's just what I do....

  • @1LeiaPrincess ^^ thats the cool part about all of this, we can adjust this things to what works better for us :D thank god for youtubers !

  • @hannahmatias hahaha! :)

  • @1LeiaPrincess You don't have to wash it with water if you dont want to, the alcohol evaporates in a couple seconds so after your brushes are dry they're completly safe to use:)

    Hope that helped

  • @HannahJaneVlogs630 Thank you very much for your answer! My main concern though, was mostly about the dish washing soap and the leave-in conditioner :)
