@baceball08 Rodeos are specifically exempted from many states' animal cruelty laws. Do the same to the animals outside the arenas, and you're accountable for animal cruelty. Don't believe that? Work to get the exemptions lifted and you'll see the proof.

This is stupidity at its best. My church puts on rodeos every weekend and I always help them with it. NEVER once have I EVER seen then shock, hit, or beat a horse in anyway. The only thing that they use is a flank rope. And those don't even hurt the horse if they are put on right. The horses we used are specificly trained to buck when they come out of a chute, they do it even with no rider and no flank rope. You can ride them just like anyother horse in the pasture, because bucking is TRAINED.

some horses are deffantly 'born to jump' or 'born to barrle race' and some really are 'bred/born to buck.' just a week ago i was watching a local rodeo were one of the broncs got over the chute, they all remained calm and got the horse out of the mess. that horse wasn't rode in case it was injured, but they took the flank strap of, let it out of the chute, and the horse went out and bucked anyway, because it could. I am a natural horsemanship trainer and a rodeo competitor. What needs to happen is whe need to find common ground. Eventually I plan on writing a short book on techniques and stratagies to safely and humanly handle rodeo livestock. I also advocate the opition of roughstock riders to where spurs. Also currently hot shots usually are no more charged than an electric fence, but I am still pushing for tools like sticks with plastic on the ends for herding livestock.
I am a a profesional horseman and an avid rodeo competitor. What happened in with the fitst horse is he went catatonic (freeze mode) This is an extremely rare occurance (I have never seen it myself). The single biggest problem with rodeo is the competitors and haldlers are not Horseman. They're rednecks. Animal rights supporters shouldn't blame people's personal iggnorance on the sport of rodeo itself.

first of all i would like to question how long those first couple of horses stood in the chuts if in there too long they become what is known as chute sor and yes do refuse to come out.. also those neck ropes are put there for the riders safety the clips of the horses rearing in the chuts are prime examples of why a neck rope is used to prevent them from hurting them selves and the riders. also they are bred to buck with breeding programs in place to get the rankest bucking horses possible..
Look ya'lls facts are wrong. with all those neck ropes around those horses necks is so that the horses don't flip over to hurt the cowboys getting on them. Horses and bull have skin much thicker then the human skin. I myself have been hit with a hot shot and it doesn't hurt. Also I've been to tons and tons of rodeos in my career and there are some horses that just have "OFF" nights and won't buck even with hot shots. They are just like any other athlete. Exactly. Horses do have their off days. I know for a fact that bucking horses arent 100% "Born to buck" but their breeding plays a part as well as training. They are bred with the mentality just as any other horse has a history of 'gentle' or 'flighty' horses in their lines. When being trained, if they buck the rider off, they get praised and rewarded by letting them go back to the pasture and get some food. On the other hand any broke riding horse that bucks you off you immediately get back on.

Anyone found beating, hitting, or prodding a horse would be subject to fines and probably suspended from rodeo. They have strict rules outlawing animal abuse. Cattle prods are NOT used on horses. These animals are not afraid, wild, or scared; often they are very tame. They do not act at all like horses that have been abused (I have worked with horses that have been hit/beaten before).Horses that have bit hit or cattle prodded would be afraid to the touch.

This is stupidity at its best. My church puts on rodeos every weekend and I always help them with it. NEVER once have I EVER seen then shock, hit, or beat a horse in anyway. The only thing that they use is a flank rope. And those don't even hurt the horse if they are put on right. The horses we used are specificly trained to buck when they come out of a chute, they do it even with no rider and no flank rope. You can ride them just like anyother horse in the pasture, because bucking is TRAINED.

some horses are deffantly 'born to jump' or 'born to barrle race' and some really are 'bred/born to buck.' just a week ago i was watching a local rodeo were one of the broncs got over the chute, they all remained calm and got the horse out of the mess. that horse wasn't rode in case it was injured, but they took the flank strap of, let it out of the chute, and the horse went out and bucked anyway, because it could. Some horses are just bron to buck. and you shouldn't be trying to stop them.

I am a natural horsemanship trainer and a rodeo competitor. What needs to happen is whe need to find common ground. Eventually I plan on writing a short book on techniques and stratagies to safely and humanly handle rodeo livestock. I also advocate the opition of roughstock riders to where spurs. Also currently hot shots usually are no more charged than an electric fence, but I am still pushing for tools like sticks with plastic on the ends for herding livestock.

I am a a profesional horseman and an avid rodeo competitor. What happened in with the fitst horse is he went catatonic (freeze mode) This is an extremely rare occurance (I have never seen it myself). The single biggest problem with rodeo is the competitors and haldlers are not Horseman. They're rednecks. Animal rights supporters shouldn't blame people's personal iggnorance on the sport of rodeo itself.

There are stock contractors and contestants who have consistently broken rules, and events (i.e. steer busting) that are inherently cruel. Yet, those individuals and events persist.

first of all i would like to question how long those first couple of horses stood in the chuts if in there too long they become what is known as chute sor and yes do refuse to come out.. also those neck ropes are put there for the riders safety the clips of the horses rearing in the chuts are prime examples of why a neck rope is used to prevent them from hurting them selves and the riders. also they are bred to buck with breeding programs in place to get the rankest bucking horses possible..

Look ya'lls facts are wrong. with all those neck ropes around those horses necks is so that the horses don't flip over to hurt the cowboys getting on them. Horses and bull have skin much thicker then the human skin. I myself have been hit with a hot shot and it doesn't hurt. Also I've been to tons and tons of rodeos in my career and there are some horses that just have "OFF" nights and won't buck even with hot shots. They are just like any other athlete. Exactly. Horses do have their off days. I know for a fact that bucking horses arent 100% "Born to buck" but their breeding plays a part as well as training. They are bred with the mentality just as any other horse has a history of 'gentle' or 'flighty' horses in their lines. When being trained, if they buck the rider off, they get praised and rewarded by letting them go back to the pasture and get some food. On the other hand any broke riding horse that bucks you off you immediately get back on.

Anyone found beating, hitting, or prodding a horse would be subject to fines and probably suspended from rodeo. They have strict rules outlawing animal abuse. Cattle prods are NOT used on horses. These animals are not afraid, wild, or scared; often they are very tame. They do not act at all like horses that have been abused (I have worked with horses that have been hit/beaten before).Horses that have bit hit or cattle prodded would be afraid to the touch.

Wow I have bee involved in rodeo my entire life and now I promote one. This has to be the most misleading small clips of misinformation I've ever seen. You obviosly know nothing about rodeo let alone horses. Prods (the electric shock thingy that I'm sure you've never seen) are never used at a professional rodeo the fine, which comes from the rodeo boards themselves, for doing so would not be worth it even if it worked. When your rigged up on a bronc the last thing you want is someone proding it.

I for one have stopped buying Coke products and have for years refused to shop at Wal-Mart for a variety of reasons. I will never buy a Dodge product and will not eat at McDonalds. These companies support something I am opposed to (cruelty) and it really isn't all that hard to shop elsewhere, buy different products, and let my stance be known: I will not passively condone cruelty.
I have a lot of gratitude to SHARK for helping me make the right choice as a consumer.
