Nice video. We all have gone through these few steps.
I have one question. How do you control your speed by using carving? If I keep "carving" on steeper slope. I start to feel I am flying easily. I don't feel that comfortable on crud or snowy situation with high speed "carving".
@tajenli good question. that's why short turns, performed half carved, half skidded, are the solution for steep or crowded slopes. a more narrow stance will help for a quicker crossover.
Nice work. I started learning with carving, so I did not know anything about throwing the tail around, but I still enjoyed your video, nevertheless. At least, now, I can look forward to skiing without throwing snow into the air, as I get better.
888forme, In the carving shots in this video Janis had most of her weight on her outside ski, and was skiing fore/aft centered, with close to equal pressure on the balls and heels of her feet. It's generally the most efficient balance state to use for casual carving.
In the instructional DVD's I sell on my Website I teach how to ski in various states of balance, and when and why to use each.
As far as grip pressure,,, like grasping an uncooked egg. Gently Bently.
Very helpful instruction but I find the music very distracting and unnessary.

Thanks for making such great instructional video. When carving, how is the weight distribution? How much grip pressure when holding the ski poles?
