However showing tameshigiri as representation of the katana's quality and brand is well thought of. I suggest to atleast take lessons to tameshigiri and how to handle the cutting technique of the katana. This is better for the blade and yourself (muscles etc) Also, use tatami rolls no juice cartons ontop of a plastic container. If you accidently miss and scratch it along a handle your blade can be damaged easily. Further more, the Masahiro line has a few beauties. I recommend them.

yes very good for the price you pay i have 3 masahiro's all together cost about 180 over the period of 2 years and all of them hold up perfect if you take care of them
