@ImNoah2212 Obsidian is made of old fo1 & 2 designers, they probably let them do it so they could return to fallouts roots, and a recent comment by a bethesda executive hints that thay will be returning to the mojave.
@gustavo1bilhao Black Isle was laid off by Interplay. After they formed a new company they tried to buy the title and finish but bethesda outbid them. they made NV though.

Change isn't always a bad thing. I think reinventing a formula is fine if you want to appeal to more people, but after that, you gotta get back to the basics. Resident Evil reinvented itself with RE4, then released RE5. Now I think think we're ready for a reboot. Same with Fallout. Fallout 3 came out and was totally different, followed by New Vegas, and now I think they should appeal to the hardcore fans. :)
I can imagine how original Fallout fans felt when the entire franchize changed to a different developer. I love FO3, but I'd also like to play FO & FO2 some day to see how they were before.
Wish they could've finished it, or at least made some kind of minigame of it and included it with 3 or New Vegas, or just released it as a downloadable or something. Miss the old style. This is the Tech Demo, not the final product. It would have played more like a top down RPG rather than an FPS clone wannabe, which suited the Fallout game better.

A Fallout with the storyline, dialogue and voice acting of Fallout 1 and 2, and the graphics and gameplay of Fallout 3 and New Vegas would indisputably be the best game ever made.
It's the Sims 1 with guns. I enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2, but I honestly had more fun with 3. Not everyone agrees which is perfectly fine in my opinion. What I cannot understand is the screaming, foaming at the mouth hate I see from fans of the original games. Maybe you guys should try to relax a little. Go outside take a deep breath and try to remember that these are just games.

Considering fallout 3 came out in 2008 and this is 2003, I dont see whats the big deal, doesnt mean Bethesda saved the fallout series it means Bethesda would have made fallout 4 in 2008 instead.
Bethesda took the correct approach. Fallout 3 is the best game I've ever played and after three years it still more fun and emmersive than any other game out there. I can't wait to see a new Fallout using the Skyrim Creation Engine.
@mebobbygillis They did NOT take the correct approach, they took Fallout, a turn-based isometric RPG, and turned it into an Oblivion clone.
The plot? Rehashing plot elements from the first two games without putting any effort to directly connect Fallout 3 to the past games. (New Vegas was much, MUCH better about this, it could have easily been Fallout 3 instead.)
For example, the BoS were COMPLETELY out of character, and the Enclave were a complete diablo ex machina.
I'm glad Bethesda made it even though I grew up playing 1&2. The older Fallouts were excellent games but the atmosphere and the massive world introduced in FO3 took it all to a new level.

I really think they should do a remake for consoles of the old fallouts. I love the hardcore RPGs and havent seen a good one lately. I really do like Fallout 3 still but it would be cool just to play the old versions re-made.

This would have been Fallout 3... Bethesda's Fallout was just TES: Fallout.
I love the Elder Scrolls games, and I love Fallout 1/2/Tactics, but i'm not some fanboy who's blinded by pride and love for the games to admit that Bethesda made Fallout into a futuristic oblivion.

Okay, couple of things here, for everybody bitchin' about the gameplay/graphics
1. This was made in 2002, of course the graphics are bad
2. This PRE-ALPHA, if you saw Bethesdas Fallout 3 at this stage it would look like crap too.
3. The first Fallouts were designed to be cult games for the hardcore rpg market, not mainstream.
4. This is like the first Fallouts which were AMAZING, and in my opinion, better then 3, and this is from a guy who hadn't heard of Fallout until 3.

This is the Tech Demo, not the final product. It would have played more like a top down RPG rather than an FPS clone wannabe, which suited the Fallout game better.

It's the Sims 1 with guns. I enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2, but I honestly had more fun with 3. Not everyone agrees which is perfectly fine in my opinion. What I cannot understand is the screaming, foaming at the mouth hate I see from fans of the original games. Maybe you guys should try to relax a little. Go outside take a deep breath and try to remember that these are just games.

Now i am gonna say this in a completely honest opinion Yes i have played Fallout 1 and 2 and i own them. I also own 3 and New Vegas. Bear with me but i think that Fallout 3 is better than the others. I respect the quality of Fallout 1 and 2 and that they were good for the time but i reckon Fallout 3 is just that much more how do i put it better. Believe me i love the Fallout 1 and 2 Story and quality but i just think that the Fallout 3 story line is so... re-playable. Troll if you want but yeah

@iiTzJamo "Bashing" isn't the word I'd use, but you clearly forgot the whole second act of Fallout 3 where you have to find the GECK and stop the Enclave from killing everyone with a modified strand of FEV (like Fallout 2) and stop the super mutants from building up their numbers (like Fallout 1). Bethesda took the correct approach. Fallout 3 is the best game I've ever played and after three years it still more fun and emmersive than any other game out there. I can't wait to see a new Fallout using the Skyrim Creation Engine.

@mebobbygillis They did NOT take the correct approach, they took Fallout, a turn-based isometric RPG, and turned it into an Oblivion clone.
The plot? Rehashing plot elements from the first two games without putting any effort to directly connect Fallout 3 to the past games. (New Vegas was much, MUCH better about this, it could have easily been Fallout 3 instead.)
For example, the BoS were COMPLETELY out of character, and the Enclave were a complete diablo ex machina.
