I love how Johnny is so enthusiastic, calling out directions and throwing in random lines during breaks and Luther is pure business, doesn't even smile. It is a strange contrast, I figured Johnny would have preferred someone with more charisma, though Luther was a genius and is a huge influence on me musically.

Im 32 a guitar player: Whos johnny cash!!! I met a bloke on site just the other day and i say that i saw the film walk the line and how great it was, he says have you heard Johnny cashes stuff ,I say no He says well you should , So i did and its changed my perseption completely

They took what they felt, and expressed it through the instruments and vocals.. opposite of just playing and instrument to a score of music.. the soul really comes oout in music like Johnny Cash. It's basically expressionism, their music is the catalyst.

A great performance by three great musicians during this 1957 show. It had to be 1957 because during "Next in Line" Johnny comments that Luther's playing is "just like on the record" and that record wasn't recorded/released until March or April of '57.
