@nielasthebest No. ;) Actually, she says "benton harbor lunchbox series", Benton Harbor being the town in Michigan where Heathkit was headquartered....
Part of Ham radio, is home brewing or making things on your own. While some of these videos don't show you how to "make" anything, Make magazine is about DIY ether fixing things or building new things. Ham radio and Make magazine go hand in hand. If more people would take the time to learn about Ham radio, they would learn it's a really cool hobby.
@rudyiking I know. But where I live you have extreme restrictions on transmitting power and very difficult exams. Took me months of study just to be allowed to own something decent. Part of it is very high population density, which makes it less of a necessity for people to own radio's compared to the Aussie outback for example, this could be the case for a lot of countries..
I am looking at Ronja to make a network here. Would be cool.
to be fair, videos like this give people really good ideas to get neat things and parts you might need when building things....but then again radioshack works just as well for that.
My grandpa did the Ham Radio thing. His brothers were radio operators for the Navy in WWII. Grandpa use to get Radio Shack catalogs long before there was a shack to sell Radio parts out of. Oh ya he did this from his families farm in Ohio. I would play in his Radio room in his house in Indiana in the late 60's. I still have his microphones. I thought it was cool.
I spent eight years working for the Cushcraft Corporation manufacturing ham radio antennas. You are, by far, the best looking ham radio operator that I have ever seen. :)
Ham radio,is like those rradio units called CB,which truckers use...but instead of talking to truckers ...with a 20 foot attena..you could talk to anyone around the world for free@=!
Com-on guys!! Are you really that juvenile and ignorant!!?!?!?!?!
This is a channel for MakeMagazine (a magazine covering a broad spectrum of subjects within tech etc), so why shouldn't their channel (the YouTube Channel that accompaniments the MAGAZINE)..
This isn't "The how to channel" or "Kipkay's and Colin's channel" (Nothing against Kip & Colin, love their vids too!)!
It would be nice to have playlists though..
BTW: On the channel page you'll find links to Kips and Collins own channels!
@DyceKendoka that's not first boring video... I'd like to see two separate channels - with kipkay and colin videos and with rest of videos like this one.
u could be overnight success in the right place.
