Your opinion does not translate into practical reality very well. Fact is, illegal immigrants do receive illegal emergency health care all the time. With no worker's compensation or other employment benefits for the work (hard labor) they do (that most Americans aren't willing to do), the least we can do is patch them up when they're hurt.

Health care is *never* free, the only question is whether or not the cost is hidden from the consumer. Mandatory health savings accounts, with the government covering any shortfall as a temporary loan, would be just as universal as any of the plans the Democratic candidates offer, and it would also encourange people to spend their money wisely.

Health care isn't free, someone has to pay for it. If they raise taxes on the rich then the rich will find ways to shelter it and then the money does not get spent. Guess who ends up paying for it then? The middle class. Shit rolls down hill. "Free" health care isn't "free"

Health care is paid by every taxpayer, in proportion of their income.

But the main difference, from the poiny of view of expenses are :

1) everyone contributes, so there is a larger pool of payers

2) Expenses are reduced, because

a) administration is less expensive, about 1%, against 20-30% of private health companies

b) there is no profit motive, therefore all the money goes to medical care

c) medicines are less expensive, because the health care has a stronger negotiation power.

I completely disagree. I don't know where you get your numbers but you are pretty far off. The legislators that want this will tell you that the main way they plan to pay for it is to tax the rich, look at any of their plans. The expense of administration also comes with other problems, the system will not be ran effectively or efficiently. Tell me of one government program that is ran efficiently.

That sounds great in theory, but only in theory. If you want a working model of what univeral healthcare will look like simply examine the current HMO system. That fiasco was supposed to be the "cheaper in numbers" model and now most people in that system are begging for healthcare that they are paying for bu not getting.

Everyone always says "healthcare". What they mean is health "insurance". You have to work, earn money, and buy insurance. In the meantime, if you get sick or hurt, others will pay to fix you. Illegal immigration now is the result of the U.S. signing the NAFTA free trade agreement which allows for the US to trade with countries with poor labor laws. Mexico wages stay low as a result and so they come here for work. I would, too. Outsourcing is another result. Kucinich addresses this by his plan to respect fair trade.

I agree. my healthy nephew gets free medical care as does his 'girlfriend' and there 3 kids. They won't get married because then they'd lose all the free rides. He even got his car fixed for free,but my husband and I,who work our ass off, we have to pay talmost a 1/3 of our income in taxes and we're not rich people either. Far from it.
