wow that was amazing. all the solos vocalised..... shivers. im just learning the wynton kelly piano solo right now and i'm having a hard enough time with that
Thank you! Jon's "vocalese" is always wondeful, I love this record, too, by the way, will you give me the lyrics of Wynton Kelly (Bobby McFerrin) - part 4, which part misses on the album note.
So pour me another drink!/ Here's a toast to Ol' Freddie, a cat that's hip t'where it was an' where it's at/ he use' t'be such a solid stone pillar of the church, he use' t'be sanctified/ he had his religion/ But now it's the devil's own dirt'e does. dispensin' spirit, meanwhile of his own/ There's only the tiniest smidgeon.

So cats 're lined up at his bar with throats dry, knowing that that's the place where Freddie c'n tab 'n gitcha high, without ever worryin' 'bout payment/ Payment'll come from the endless myriad of squares/So y'neverever have t'even think about it/ Jus' settle on down to some drinkin'/ Y'tab's all paid, let the good times roll/

@Doumbeck hell yeah, i copped most of this solo by listening to these lyrics and now i regularly use them in my solos and what's great is i can think of these lyrics while i play the licks on guitar even when i change the rhythms.
Beautiful transcription. The delegation of roles to the respective vocalists could not have been more precise! Coltrane's solo is a masterpiece in the art of tonal commentary, his harmonic punctuation (esp. commas & semi-colons) breaks this listeners heart. What a delight!

pcoldham 2 years ago
There's this cat, his name is Freddie
This cat's a bartender, Well known by anyone here
He can mix the kind of drink that you won't forget
One sip and you'll flip
And for chasers!-- Freddie got some stuff for hip flips
Groovy stuff for your cup
Let the foam go, get down, drink it up
I swear he made it up hisself, And it'll hypnotise an elf
pcoldham 2 years ago
(Miles Pt2)
Them drinks that Freddie mix!
Ain't no ill that they won't fix.
For each emotion, Freddie got a potion
He's known to have you oxified, before you know you even dryyyy.
Just mention his naaaaaaaame, All the cats know Freddie
He serves one, so Freddie deserves one
Cocktails bar done by the way Freddie does
He claims it unnerves one.
pcoldham 2 years ago
So all daaaay, juices all daaaay, Freddie
But all that bread, don't reach the tip.
Though I ain't saying Freddie's dealin' , if you know him at all
Then it's a cinch that you know he will.
Everready Freddie, well he pours so steady
IIIIII seen him sink one drink 'fore the next cat was ready
He's got a style that's so well known,
Freddie's on touch, treated too much, its all his own.
