  • Love it when he looks like such a freak. Night before was my 200th show,to bad didn't fall on this night here.

  • Fantastic!

  • Possibly in the worst shape of his life ( except for 1995) yet he could still get the job done!

  • I went to this show when I was a senior in high school I lived 20 miles away and went with dead head buddies. This is the best morning dew I have heard and I listened to alot of bootlegs. Going to see Further tomorrow night but I miss Jerry so much!!!

Thanks for posting this awesome performance.

  • Why do we lose video 6 minutes in??

  • Glorious !! Only 16 at this show ..didn't really know what was happening , but was sure that something big was going down . dosed , young and under the influence of the Grateful Dead was a fine place to be . So fine , that I left my old life and began anew , chasing Jerry and that magic feeling . the bus came by that night and I got on ..

  • dew is good.not the best dew i ever heard.try listening to the Barton Hall '77.that's gotta be the best dew ever.those shows at Barton hall are legenderydoes anyone remember the Fillmore East shows?this old man does.

  • @allanrpa32652 Try 6/14/85 Greek Theatre. That Dew opened the second set like no other, ever.

  • Jerry is God.

  • Shows in Maine were great. Its why I moved here

    These two shows were awsome

  • my first show was summer '84...that syracuse show you were at has one of most rip roaring jack straw's i've ever heard... this whole augusta show is epic though...the cold rain is magnificent also..

  • I also really appreciate having this here. This was my 3rd Grateful Dead concert, and is the one that most stands out for me of many more I attended. The lighting and sound were amazing, plus the venue was quite small. I recall being a bit frightened by the intensity of the jam the followed Uncle John's Band into drums...very powerful. A week later I attended the show at the monster sized Carrier Dome in Syracuse (10-20-84) and was shocked by how much larger the venue was!

  • oh yeah... i am not just glad to have this footage..it's an incredible document that hits me on a very very personal level...thank you so much for posting this...you'll never know what this means...for years this version has been a touchstone of sorts.grateful indeedy!

  • yeah i figured this was all there was...but i saw some other stuff elsewhere on the tube here that had the silly stuff as optional...other shows....this is not a sbd source though..a magnificent audience tape for sure...one that translates the echo of the place incredibly....this is a dew for the ages..jerry plays beautifully and intricately on countless other dews in different periods ...but this is something other...it is raw...jerry is world weary at this point...howling into the void.

  • @nitrousnine Interesting insight... Something was going on there that night... I was at both shows... Shared a hotel room with about 30 Dead heads for free... We took over the room...Any we were polite This was a special Dew indeed.. Would love to hear the Dead rate their Dews. Something was going on there Angels were there... Good ones beat down the dark fallen ones. Stay with Jesus Christ folks

  • @sharegrace By te way, the Hotel was paid for the room.....Many just shared it... Some of Garcia's riffs sound a bit Knopfhleresque

  • The Bears are there because the video source cuts out.. The videographer either ran out of tape or had to stop filming, so no more video exists. This is a well known source that was widely traded on VHS tapes in the 1980s and beyond. Thankfully the video is mated to a SBD audio source. Be glad we have this much!

  • All I can say is that I have imagined what being at this show and hearing this Dew must have been like for the past 27 years! Thanks You Thank You Thank YOu for uploading this...Could you redo the video without the Bears at the quietest part of the song, I wanna see Jer!

  • @axwell21 How could you hold onto these for so long? Did you get that Peggy~O?

  • I drove from Chicago and saw the entire East coast tour. The two at Augusta were two of the greatest of all time! On this night,I had the flu and sat at the top....directly opposite and facing the band, with my chin resting on one of the railings. I just stared and danced with my eyes... and it was still one of the hottest shows. A lady who I had met the previous New Years in SF happened to live in Maine. She took me home, fed me soup, put me to bed and got me better. ~Where are you
