  • this is one of my all time favorite gershwin songs! thank you so much for doing it such awesome justice!!

  • I'm amazed!

  • when he starts with the scat, i lol'd. loved it!

  • wow you guys a pro's!

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • i expected a lot more for a scat out of a yale group...

the few high falsetto attemps failed as well.

that being said...this is absolutely incredible and the soloist is actually EXCELLENT; but those parts aforementioned couldn't be ignored...

  • wow u guys are amazing!

  • strange blend of jazz and opera. i say that being fully aware of the fact that "summertime" was originally written for the opera Porgy & Bess. But if you're gonna call it jazz, and do a jazz-ish arrangement, and scat, you need to do it in the jazz idiom, not the classical idiom. tone all around was just 10,000% too rounded. and the scatting was impressive in terms of how fast he was able to make his mouth move, but his form was too stale. it plateau'd right at the beginning.

    just my opinion.

  • this is the oddest version i've ever heard of this song but its awesome!

  • Yeah, go Liz!!!

  • They have a really nice range of and use of dynamics!

  • the background is great. the soloist has a great a voice, but he's too stiff. actually, pretty much everyone is. it's jazz. relax. the talent in this group is fantastic, though. :)

  • This is fantastic. Haunting.

  • absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. my dad went there and was in the the dukes men of yale a cappella singing group.

  • Awesome SCAT!!! :D

  • Interessante arrangiamento e bravo anche il ragazzo solo chesarebbe stato meglio una voce femminile

  • wow, awesome arrangement - great vocalists and scatting. superb!

  • I think your "Mr. Pityful" is what you call a DIRECTOR. It's their job to be pitiful. It's what keeps us musicians going. Knowing that there's always someone who looks dumber than we do.

  • Thats right!

    Real men sing tenor!

  • wow! that's a great piece of art!

  • A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG, you should check out the one performed on the Harvard Din and Tonics album, A Hint of Lime. i swear it's reaaaaaaaaally good!

  • Keep representin' Robbie! Sing it, Kentucky boy!!!

  • My God he's remarkable, he sounds EXACTLY like Ella!

  • i think thats mr.pityful in the back left there

  • i can only think of 1 word to say for this entire performance......AMAZING!!!

Also the soloist has such a great voice. I only wish i could sing that good.

    Great Job all of you!!

  • this kid is incredible.

  • HOLY SHIT!! 0_0 this is an A-MAH-ZING version!!

  • RH&B was my absolute favorite group at Yale, I listened went to every one of their performances, best stuff I ever heard... and you're still awesome. If only you put the entire song up here, it cuts off much too soon...

  • Thanks so much! We intended that the full song be here; let us know when it cuts off for you and we will do our best to fix the problem.

  • Oh, sorry, must be my problem. Got the whole song now. :)

  • Great! Out of curiosity, which years were you at Yale?

  • Class of '95

  • This is terrific! The soloist has a lovely voice, and what awesome blend and tuning in the ensemble!

  • That boy is totally sweet on this song.

  • Wow you guys sound great!! The voices sound so rich and beautiful. Pitch has done a wonderful job. The soloist has a great voice - Has anybody ever thought of arranging "Moon River?" He would be great doingthat with his unearthly quality. Do you all still do "Mama Looks Sharp"???

Great to hear that RH&B is going strong.

    Lisa Moscatiello

  • Thanks, it's good to hear from a Redhot legend such as yourself. I don't know about "Moon River," but we have discussed bringing back "Mama look sharp" for a while now. Maybe in 07-08. We'll try to put an updated repertoire in the Newsletter when it is solidified in the fall.

  • Okay, since this is my favorite song in the world...mad props to one of my fave groups at Yale.
