Besides Leslie's wonderful performance, and the amazing music here, I always loved how the sea ghouls voices sounded with the gurgling mixed into the distorted dubbing of their voices, that always gave me the chills when i was younger, Still does :/
Anyone know the name of the additional music playing whilst Leslie Neilson is examining beach following the drowning of Harry and his lady fare??? It's not Goblin. A lot of it sounds as if it is from classic horror films. It has a Bernard Hermann tone.
I think of this song every time I bury someone in the sand neck deep until the tide comes in. They'll yell and scream, but it doesn't block out this song in my head.
Leslie Nelson and Peter Graves die within a year of each other. Who would of thought it? These two could have passed for brothers almost. They were nearly the same age and had interesting Hollywood careers.
@ludwigvan17 Me too. It's really cool how the very same piano theme that plays at the beginning of this track plays at the very end of the Father's Day segment as well. John Harrison is a total genius.
@TheAltair4 Oh, wow, good ear. I just checked that out to see what you meant and you're right. And, like I said, that theme is also the basic pattern that's heard throughout the opening track.
I'm studying composition and hope to score films one day and, recently, I've been listening to this soundtrack everyday just trying to soak it in. I agree, John
@TheAltair4 I don't know if you saw this but one of the comments on this page pointed out that the theme for "Something to Tide You Over" is actually a menacing variation of "Camptown Races".
darkbosh, I am with you 100%. Scores and soundtracks today are nothing like they were a couple decades ago...Pop music and tired old orchestra music. That's all there is today, the exception maybe being GRINDHOUSE, and I applaud them for that.
I really like how the music becomes so tragic and melancholy at 3:43. It perfectly captures the sense of hopelessness and doom for Ted Danson's character in the scene from the film.
Theres this guy I hate who used to hover around my girlfriend and he really used to piss me off, and the other week I watched this... (Ive seen the film a milion times before) and a day later I had a sleep and I driftly dreamed of a zombie-fied version of me and my girlfriend scaring the shit out of him one night... :P
Is that a picture of the USA LP or the Japanese CD re-issue?

I love the way you can hear elements of the main theme throughout the movie but just intertwined in the themes of each separate story.
