After the crisis, congress put together a non partisan commission to determine the cause of the crisis. It disproves the idea that the crisis was caused by GSEs like fannie/freddie or by the CRA. They never relaxed their underwriting until the rest of the market did so, by then they had to in order to meet analysts expectations.

@Staticnz You're right. He should have mentioned, or shown tape of, W calling for a hard look at Fannie and Freddie. W knew the two were "shaky", and said something about it (five times I believe). He was one of the people maligned by all the Fannie and Freddie supporters.
