Just to clarify, my answer is "No" to your question "Can we really compete globally without fast broadband speeds" and "Yes" to your question "Is Slow Broadband Stopping Africa becoming a Major Tech Player?" :)
I have always been of the opinion that this is huge task before us. I t's really amazing why the throughput on various broadband channels can not be any faster than it is now. Or wait, maybe they can, but here in a place like Nigeria, bandwidth (in terms of speed and capacity) has become the new means by which the various ISPs have found to milk internet users and customers
