  • these two guys have enough money between them to effectively put an end to world poverty. why the fuck havnt they.

  • It must be fun creating the most successful company in the history of the world.

  • Kermit the Frog... Sergey Brin

  • they both sound like theyre related to kermit

  • Screw Google. Screw TED. Don't kid yourself -- these people are ultimate arch-capitalist control freaks.

  • @zaphod71828 - With that attitude you wont be getting much further than this... seeing as Google, Inc. more than likely played some part in you watching this video. Which by the way if you were kidding yourself you would not have watched this video nor wasted your time to comment. By your own comment you contradict yourself. "arch-capitalist control freaks" By saying that it almost sounds as if you wish you came up with the idea but someone smarter than you did now you need to pout about it. lol

  • Yeah. It is not the usual Google standard. Too long and fragmented. I never got the real topic.

  • larry page sounds like Microsoft SAM

  • yeah i agree that globe wouold be a good screen saver i like them but their presentation is horible

  • too long

  • "They work better when they're submerged and covered with leaves."

  • btw i have a tooth ache, dentist chair

  • 8:24 Japan, Uk, and Europe and all the rest of the countries.

    wait.

    Europe ?

  • Sergey Brin now has more than 15 billion dollars :O (i could use that kind of money)

  • It's 2010 update it...

  • @dsmashh what net? you dont possiably mean the interwebs do you :O.

  • @dsmashh That is NOTHING compared to 300 million living in USA, and ridiculous number compared to 3.9 billion living in ASIA LOL

  • I dont get the boxers joke in the begining

  • @Sconz32 Boxers or briefs? He wears boxers.

  • @Sconz32 It's in reference to a meeting Bill Clinton had with a bunch of people in an MTV audience circa early 90's (when MTV was still relevant). A member of the audience stood up and asked him whether he wore boxers or briefs.

  • I would love to go to one of their conferences....but I think I'd be bored at the same time.

  • Sergey brin has a strange accent. A slight tinge of russian accent

  • @angela1894 He was 6 when he left Russia.

  • @angela1894 he is russian. lol

  • @googoo120 He was 6 when he left Russia, he should have lost the accent a LONG time ago. I notice the same thing with genius mathematician Noam Elkies who left Israel for America as a kid but still has an Israeli accent in his 40s

  • Google was still sucking China's huge dick in 2007, and felt no shame at all in doing so back then...

  • Seinfeld?

  • Africa... truly the dark continent

  • I'm from Australia and im on google right now. WHERE'S MY DAMN LIGHT!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Now if only Mister Brin somehow saw this comment and decided with his billions of dollars to support the Vilnius Jewish Library.

  • It does seem he sucks at geography

  • lol google hats boring people!

  • 20:10 to 20:33. Defining moments in American history!

  • just because he doesn't say them doesn't mean he doesn't know them. i would find it very strange if a billionaire with global business interests couldn't name the countries where his business is among the most prominent. so you're wrong.

  • For them its 'Europe' no need to know the countryś...

  • and you know because....? just be quiet

  • Like the way you say your sentence. Oe did i touch the American proud there, sorry for that SIR.

  • its 'pride' and no you didn't I just thought your statement was unneccessary and incorrect. Just because someone doesn't vocalize something doesn't neccessarily mean he doesn't know it.

  • Yeah and he didn't even spend the time to name all 50 individual states in the USA, what a jerk!

  • Obviously, US states have not the same connection to the USA as European countries with Europe.

So, in all respects, knowing the 50 US states is less important than knowing the 50 European states.

  • There are 50 European states?

  • @botchalism lol

  • It used to be less countries/states but some decades ago 'something' happened and we got a lot of new ones. The amount of European nations is however stable (although there have been attempts in the past toward the opposite) but the amount of countries/states fluctuates a lot more.

  • So there are 50 European states?

  • There actually are exactly 50 sovereign states in Europe. Look it up on wikipedia under "List of European countries". Or actually it's more like 50½ states since Kosovo is recognized by about half of the world's nations as a sovereign state and it does function as one. The states of USA are however not sovereign states, they are instead a group of federated states, meaning they do not have wield absolute autonomous power.

  • 50 European states... lawl XD

  • sergey is a better speaker than larry

  • The word "philanthropic" was also used to describe the Rockefeller family. That's the family that funded the mass psychology experiment that we know as "War of the Worlds" where literally hundreds of thouands of people ran through the streets in terror.

Condemnation of others and praises of one's self tend to be a reflection of the person speaking. When a liar wants you to think of them they'll tell you they're truthful / trustworthy.

    "Philanthropic."

  • @bobbygnosis what the FUCK are you talking about?

  • @htko89 At some point, if the current model were to continue - which I don't believe - we'd become intellectual property of the state / corporations (fascism). Google would likely be one of the corporate masters. I don't buy the word 'philanthropy' at all any more. Anyone who applies the word philanthropist to themselves wants you to think well of them. The desire for others to think well of that person is itself cause for question.

Hitler was trying to help Germany out of depression . . .

  • What I like about google is they give a shit about giving back. They have a vision and they want the future now. Thats what we SHOULD all want and I know I want it too.

  • Maybe DJ Tiesto is the greatest living composer, because he takes ready made songs and changes them around a bit with an easy-to-use computer program?

  • Google is the most interesting company of the last 20 years - they have taken a Niche (search for content) and dominated it completely. What is amazing is that Yahoo was exactly a weak player when Google took the market they in effect helped to create.

It is very interesting to get a peak behind the thoughts that create such a powerful company and culture.

  • google should bye africa...

  • You are a MORON of the highest order. Google will buy Africa when you learn to spell properly.

  • You guys are geniuses... but sucks in presentations. ;p

  • @YouGinTube *Genii

  • @YouGinTube , Most people good at presentations are snake oil salesman

  • nerds extraordinaire, that guy in red sounds like the Hal 9000

  • dont be evil? isnt good and evil just perspectives? and what about the iraq kid? aww poor guy :( why not put his blog under hugs?

    :p

  • i love larry page

  • google should buy iceland.

  • @chechabon no they shouldnt. i live there

  • Google is concerned with productivity, instead of just dicking around. I see no reason why they should use macs. Apple probably has a lot more to learn about Google than the other way around.

  • they don't need bubbly fun icons and stupid visual candy for kids, they need something that works and is efficient.

  • Don't be evil. That`s not the point. The evil doesn`t bother about your intentions and wishes.

Everybody who states "Don`t be evil" is already lost.

  • Oh great now google is watching our every move.

  • Every search you make on google logs what search it was and what your ip is. From your IP it can accurately predict the city you live in.

  • If you are worried about how much information google has, wait till facebook becomes listed......

  • It'll catch the pedos.

    : /

  • That globe would be great as a screensaver.

  • le future pouvoir de la terre :) dans qlq anne on verra des truc dans les supermarché made in google contry

mais bravo se sont de genie.

  • what's that song at the end?

  • Yes, Google is a very powerful search engine that can search any exact information including your personal information and especially your biodata.

  • Hahaha, Larry Page is so similar to Mickey Mouse. Check a video in Youtube of Mickey after watching this one and you will rofl.

  • You say that because you are unsuccessful person,

these guys change the world by their products, specially the gigantic search engine

  • They're not very good at presentations are they? Its a good job its something I'm interested in.

I don't think any company on Earth should be worth 150b$ but thats the way things are. They are doing a good job

  • africa needs freedom from their effing dictators

  • omg.. africa!! they need food, not google :p

  • this was an Aprils fools joke right? .. lol

  • Has Google proven that there not doing click fraud.

  • Google and Apple are the two companies, I'll love to work for.

  • This was an awesome video. The world needs more companies like Google. They're forward-thinkers with a true mission, rather than just money-minded companies with no world view.

  • I <3 SERGEY BRIN

  • it really hard to keep up with that kind of traffic

  • google world's best company

  • I disagree I say you can't have

"THE BEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD" Most used device or utility maybe. Think of Adobe we use there software and there techology everysingle day on the internet. Think about Microsoft and there windows xp if we did not have windows xp could we really run things like we do today.

  • Without XP, of course the world still have linux and Mac OS, Google could be best because of the "don't be evil" principle which none company have it

  • Your wied. From what i understand from your comment above b444hg your saying Google is the best because they have the don't be evil slogan. Well I disagree. All is blind in how crappy greedy and sneaky google is with internet users money. I know for a fact that I don't choose to pay google but somewhere my money is going to Google without my choice.

  • hey they are a company.. they are evil and sneaky, just like Apple and Microsoft

thus linux is "best" because most of the distros are publicly developed

  • google is the first choice for internet search because Larry Page and Sergey Brin invented a so called pagerank. A complexed mathemathical algorithm that rankes pages by their relavency. This ground breaking invention made Google the best. And Google is easy to use

  • Yep. I totally agree. You can rarely cheat Google to get ranked high and I like that - As a user and as a multiple website owner myself.

  • this not accepting money for results thing is new

it use to be so obvious

    "shell nigeria" for example

  • Correct the pagerank can't judge how good the website is just based on its traffic ranking. Google uses the pagerank system to place the websites that are high up in the ranks first

  • Thank you so much for making these TED talks available, what an incredible resource.

This is what I love about the internet, and our planet today - if we want it, its all there for us.

  • Thanks Sergey! wow boxers..I would have never guessed. :)

  • Aserejé Ja Dejé LOL!

  • I like, respect and trust Google.

  • You pay google for true non fake hits on adsense and on adwords. Well prove that to me and i will trust google with my money. 10 percent of hits from google adwords and adsense are true but the rest is google giving you fake stats

  • im agree i dont know why but im agree

  • Why don't you tell this for somebody really responsable for that situaton if Africa?

  • i think people in africa would rather have clean water than a search engine

  • google is amazing and it is incredible that it took off as well as it did, but you could be forgiven for thinking that they are trying to take over the internet.

  • google akbar! google akbar! google akbar!

  • I remember Froogle!!(not the current one(the one before that))

  • Was it an effect of being immensely wealthy, but these guys are communicating us their boring state. This video doesn't teach us more than an average internet freak could do. I do not feel future could be that great with them.

  • This could have been boiled into ~7 minutes.

  • I'm tired about the "funy guy" speaches, this thing can't be written on a webpage or something? You know it's about the 22:30 mins. watching vs. 5 mins. reading the essence.

  • Google RULES!!!

  • Elite Banaos on stage!!! ^^

are they singular or plural??if they're singular i want one of them to be my husband ^^

Sergey Brin looks great in denims and Larry Page in red!!

    elite-flavored humour rocks!! ^^

  • not smart to put your number out on the internet

  • two very very rich geeks talk about there employee itilisation to make them more money

  • smart demo!

  • where was this at?

  • TedTalks in Monterrey, California

  • I like the visualizations. I wonder where 3D Live Stats got their idea from. ;-)

I hope to see more visualizations for Google services.

  • I'm probably not a remarkable person but, Sergey & Larry, I need Google advertise my NOBLE Global project which consequently will make people of our earth love Google much mooore!!!

  • One night after a month of first using a few new google softwares I didn't sleep:'cos using those softwares smashed all my minds' barriers & let me think G-L-O-B-A-L-L-Y and I worked out my GLOBAL project by the middle of the night! My brains were flying all the night & I was shocked by HAPPINESS!

I was thinking of my noble project & the 1-st time in my life didn't think of money, all those mercedes or houses were somewhere below

Now I've my lifedream & Google made me HAPPY!

  • I miss google ask, it was so useful.

  • i just press mute on the keyboard until bmw symbol is over lol

  • This must be an old talk. Right now the majority of Orkut users are Brazilian.

  • yeah, that must be it. I already noticed Larry Page was explaining what adsense is, while I think almost everyone knows this phenomenon!

  • In 2004, most people didn't know about Adsense, LOL

  • Brazilian, Spanish-speaking and Indians.

  • THE INTRO MUSICAL THEME IS SUPER AWESOME!

(Caps Lock + Exclamation) > (Caps Lock + Period)

  • THE INTRO MUSICAL THEME IS TERRIBLE.

  • i agree with w0rldpeace

  • hahaha, I don't think it's terrible, but after the 10th or so video, it starts getting repetitive...

  • But then it's getting terrble.
