yes,, after 50 60 years they're are still as funny as ever,, proving that true comedy, simple human actions, get people like me choking and nearly passing out from it! Thanks to Stan & Ollie, and you for posting it!
My Day was so horrible today but than i found this video and it makes totally my day :D. Thank you guys, you were the best comedians in the world and you will be the best comedians in the world :D R.I.P Boys and thank you so much for so many great movies you gave all of us (and i hope this is right, my english is not very well. Greetings from germany :D)
I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at this :') Stan and Ollie have brought so much joy to my life. I grew up watching them. They are the best comedy duo ever.
IT IS COMING...! The 'Decoding Laurel and Hardy Project' website - very soon - one unique place where all your comments regarding the Return of Laurel and Hardy can be displayed and viewed by all who feel the same way - that it's about time that Laurel and Hardy were back on our screens, big and small. For further details - website launch etc - please contact laurelhardyladyno12010@hotmail.co.uk and join in one united effort to bring Laurel and Hardy back into all our lives!
I'm not a religious person, and yet I hope somehow that these two guys are up there somewhere and aware of the extent of their legacy. The fact that 40-50 years after their passing, people like myself forget the stresses of a working day by coming home and watching brilliant clips like this, is about the highest praise I can muster.
The moments at 0.41 and 1.09 in particular never fail to make me laugh out loud! Truly timeless legends!
"Top that!" I love Oliver Hardy's annoyed expressions and haughty challenge and self-satisfied grin when he thinks he outdid his friend, and Stan Laurel's blank, almost pantomine look. These guys worked so well together.
Even though "Pick A Star" (reissued as "Movie Struck" by Astor Pictures in 1947) was supposed to be Rosina Lawrence's "star vehicle" for the studio, Hal Roach decided to add a little "box office insurance" by having Stan and Ollie appear in two brief scenes; this was one of them. However, because those scenes were re-edited into a TV "two-reeler" {"A Day at the Studio"} in the '50s, most people who grew up watching that version believe "Pick A Star" was Stan and Ollie's feature!
genius pure genius. two men enjoying their trade. funniest duo ever to grace this earth. will never be forgotten their talent and comedy is timeless.
laurel and hardy one of the great comedy teams of our time,I grew up watching there movies in england, always had a good laugh.still watch there films today, on my old movie projector.always loved the good old comedy classics.
There is no greater comedy team than Laurel and Hardy! I have such a love and appreciation for everything they brought to film. I am so thankful to them for all the laughter they bring to my life! Laurel and Hardy the Greatest of all time!
The great Stan and Ollie. I have never seen this before it is brilliant definately bought tears to me eyes. And mine hm hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Life near Bottessford in the U.K and there is a Pub their dedicated to Laurel and Hardy) Will be visiting it soon hopefully. I think one of Stans relations used to run it but I hope one of you fine diehard fans out there will clarify this for me. thank you.
there is a rumour that they may spruce up the films and use todays colour technology better than the 1990s colourization but i like them to stay vintage looking more atmospheric
It is their priceless characterizations and friendship that makes The Boys so endearing. That is truly the magic behind Stan & Ollie...two minds without a single though, yet at the same time, hearts as big as a mountain!
@fonzie5858 No doubt about it! Eberything was so nuanced & the timing they had has never been duplicated. I swear I could spend an hour just watching them exchanging looks.
Y'know now that I think of it - there are no more comedy duos. I guess that speaks to how difficult it is/was.
Can any of you Laurel & Hardy fans help ?. Trying to find the title which has a scene where Oliver Hardy makes some money on a hand money roller, and then hands the money over to a coloured porter. ?
It may be of some interest to "freereeder" that I went to high school in Beverly Hills with the nephew of Billy Gilbert. Like myself, he came from a "show-biz" family (His father and uncle wrote all the "Pink Panther" movies). Anyway, one afternoon I was taken to meet his uncle, who was then retired and living very comfortably in the S.F. Valley. Mr. Gilbert had a projection set-up in his living room, and we watched "The Music Box", which his friend, Ken Murray ran! Fancy that! Take care. R.J.
The great duo...no one ever beat the wheelchair scene in Blockheads, or the steps in The Music Box. Both films also featured the unforgettable Billy Gilbert ("Herring" of The Great Dictator).
