Gotta say, I didn't care for Next Doctor. I mean, it's an RTD cop-out. The Next Doctor wasn't, the Doctor's Daughter wasn't, Donna didn't die after all....eh. And I think he made sort of an annoying Doctor. I dunno, just my two cents. I felt it could have been more.
I love the music, it's beautiful. But I'm also rubbish at theorising so I'm not even going to try and guess what's going to happen, but I can't wait for the next Doctor being announced tomorrow!
I wonder what your opinions are of the options for the 11th Doctor. (There's an article in the newest Doctor Who Magazine) I'm scared. I don't really like any of them.. :(
i was so happy the doctor decided to go eat dinner. wasn't a favorite but that is just because i really really don't care for the Cybermen. It did give me chills though because i really liked the end portion of the episode. i thought the crowd cheering for the doctor was just fabulous and wonderful. I also agree when he talked about his past companions... i was just... aw...
I LOVED the next doctor, it was defiantly one of the less' the world is in danger' sort of things which was nice for a change. I didn't expect him to be but I think David morrissey would have been a great doctor. I hope there is a special ' easter that's when my birthday is = D.
I'm also VERY UPSET DAVID TENNANT'S LAST EPISODES D =.
Anyhow I think there might be 4 specials and a Christmas Special.
Regarding the specials, the last story (Tennant's last) is a two-parter, so I'm thinking *Christmas 09/New Year's Eve 09* which would leave Easter 2009 and Summer 2009. "Planet of the Dead", if you don't want spoilers, is probably gunna be Earthbound =\
BBC3 podcast/commentary with RTD and Julie G. They give away a few things. The final story is a two-parter and they spill some things about "Planet of the Dead".
While I can't say I love this special as much as you do, I like your point about character development. To me, the biggest mystery was finding out who this Other Doctor was... And then they revealed it after 30 minutes already! We-e-e-ell, in a fancy way, brilliant stuff, but it felt like the mystery was gone. But then they revealed who Jackson Lake was and that was still interesting! Well done, mister Davies. Wonderful hommage to all the Doctors, by the way. (Eccleston! :D)
The cybershades looked like confused muppets. And after such an EPIC ending for the last series, it was nice for them to calm things down a bit. I also liked the fact that the doctor actually went to dinner with them. It's like he realized that maybe he doesn't have to stay alone all the time.
It didn't feel Christmasy to me at all, but regardless, I LOVED IT! I thought it was amazing and it was the perfect way to get everyone back from the long break.
And you're right, Cybermen are kind of pointless. Daleks are way better.
I'm just getting tired of, "THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN BE STOPPED!" and then the next season, "Oh wait, one escaped and breeded!"
it was a nice comforting only london is screwed kind of christmas. :D
and that was my favorite part too. but i was worried because he said he won't have another companion. but i guess that could change when the doctor does :/
I agree with you for the most part, although this was the first christmas special I've been able to watch. And for my favorite episode, I'd have to say either Don't Blink or the Girl in the Fireplace.
(Althought nothing compares to the second and third year of McCoy's Doctor... :))
Yeah well put Kayley. In Left Turn it showed without Donna he had no one to hold him back so he died. He needs them. BUT he knows they'll leave him at some point. Like a greek tragedy. Thank you.

I didn't like Fires of Pompeii or Partners in Crime either... but then I ended up loving Donna and the strong friendship she and the Doctor had.

Oh, I was definitely not saying this is my favourite episode. Just one of my favourite specials. :)
Those are brilliant episodes and some of my favourites, as well.
owlssayhooot 3 years ago
Have you been able to watch the original seven doctors?? When the new season starts, you two should do a blogtv show after the episode...
AndrewAtoZ 3 years ago
Naw, I don't have the time to go through and do that. I've seen a few episodes, though.
And we can't, really. The time difference interferes. Also, I usually don't see episodes until the day after or so...We just stick to the videos.

they have said that the next one will be during easter

Oh, haha, I didn't know that. Well then...yay me! xD

They said it on their podcast. Just look up Doctor Who on itunes and the Doctor Who commentary is where they said it.
