Vietnam is not the East Asian countries . Actually they have a little bit don't like Vietnamese and other Southeast Asians but Singapore ,just like North American don't like Mexican and Latino.
@isunlloaoll Stop dreaming, as long as Japanese still look down on Koreans, Koreans still look down on Chinese, Chinese still look down on Vietnam, Vietnam still look down in Cambodia, etc... ASIA WILL NEVER UNITES to rule the world like EU.
It's funny how these Chinese are trying to fool the world that their ancestors are from the north because that's where the advanced civilization flourished.Yes, a lot of you are mixed with the altaic people, due to Nothern domination of China through out the history, but the truth is,most of you are decendents from the South,so there is no reason to bash the Vietnamese because Chinese share the same blood as the Vietnamese!
I'm Korean/white American from the USA,just searching for the truth!
@689Shinigami get the f*** out nigger, we have nothing to do with your kind. Don't go day dreaming thinking asian is from Africa. The hormo sapien has found recently was not from Africa
Whiten your skins, make plastic surgery to your ugly monkey face, recompose your DNA and wait for another 3000 years to let east asians accept you. LOL.
This is a warning to you. If you continue with this type of provocative communication, we will have to block or ban you. Please do not take this warning as a lightly matter.
@formanyreason check everywhere. wikipedia, britannica, scholarly publications, etc. Vietnamese is an austroasiatic language, along with kmer, mon, aslian and munda, and this has been known for over a century. Han and other sinitic-speakers come from the sino-tibetan language family. Austonesian is another family altogether, with malay and tagalog included. If you are proud of your country, please do not hate your origins!
lol asia is not only japan, china, korea and veitnam !!!!!!! who made it !!!!!!! so poor in asia has mongolia, india, thailand, and iran !!! so many countries have but here is only 4 !! so bad fuckin chinese adn korea
@saihangerel pls read the tittle, " East Asia". Mongolia was not counted because not so significant, Iran is not east asian, india is south asian, thailand is southeast. Vn, Kinh Ethnicity is east asian but due to their expansion to the south in past which eradicated Cham's empire and Kmer so that made them geographically in the middle of east and southeast. Japanese, Han Chinese and Vnmese have similar gene. Korean is north asian but chinese in the north shares their gene.
@gearo Koreans are NOT northern asians but admixtures of southeast asians and eastasians, their difference with northern asians are quite clear, the mongolian skins are much darker than korean skins and mongolian foreheads are very low and wide compared to kor.Northern Han Chinese and Koreans don't have similar genes but they share similar motherlines dna and they look nothing much alike, maybe only eye structures look alike but other things like nose index, skull index and so on are all different.
the term 'yue' or viet was used as a generic term by the chinese to refer to any groups living to their south, whether be they hmong speakers, Tai speakers (thais, zhuangs) Austroasiatic speakers (vietnamese, khmer) or sino-tibetan speakers (Karens, Burmese). Any people to the south were called yue, just as every single race to the west and north were called hu (horse-riding barbarians). later on this term got adopted by the vietnamese as a name fro their nation.
@anacrusisztc As you said "Yue" or "Viet" is a "generic" term for people who lives in the south, but actually you guys called us Yue Nan, why included NAN ? Nan is a universal word to describe South, so basically you guys call us South South? Doesn't make any sense, Yue is the way we Viets call ourselves not by Han people. Viet or Yue in Vietnamese means "Superior".
@soulkeeper2912 Its funny, but the word yue in chinese means 'superior' as well. In fact, it means 'superior' in Japanese and even in korean, when they still used chinese characters. The fact that vietnamese adapted a chinese name to call themselves speaks volumes already. secondly, 'yue' is the ancient name used to refer to certain southern regions, from the warring states kingdom 'Yue' to the breakaway state 'Nanyue'. Yue Nan just means, 'south of yue', which is exactly where vietnam is.
@soulkeeper2912 In fact, provinces in China keep their ancient names till this day, though they are used rarely, e.g. on car plates to show where its issued. Shaanxi is 'jin', Yunnan is 'Dian', zhejiang is 'wu', sichuan is 'shu', and guess what is Guangdong? you guessed it - its 'yue'. In a sense, vientamese are just saying they live south of Guangdong ( a.k.a yue nan).
@anacrusisztc However in Vietnam, there are 56 ethic types of people ,so to distinguish ourselves "true Vietnamese", we called ourselves "Kinh" which means people lives in the cities. For example,"Kinh Do" means CAPITAL. Like NanKing, or Beiking, or Tokyo (Dong Kinh = East Capital).
The vietnamese language is an Austroasiatic language. Other austroasiatic languages are khmer, mon, and the munda languages spoken in India, along with the languages of the nicobar islands and orang asli of Indonesia. This means that the ancient viet people migrated from somewhere to the southwest, and not from the north. While vietnamese people have a proud history, science and fact cannot be denied, or else we would all humour you by saying viets came from mongolians or what bullshit.
the problem with viets is that they use the very loose word "viet/yue" as some kind of concrete term with a definitive description. so when their country and nationality is officially "vietnam/vietnamese", they automatically think all places and people that were referred as "yue" belongs to them, or is closely related to them, or is the same as them.
it's funny, they claim people residing in modern-day southern china, but NEVER want anything to do with khmers or chams. they're part of "yue" too.
what part of "viets are not truly yue" do you not understand? luo yue/lac viet are related to the dongson culture, a south east asian culture with traces as far south as indonesia. if luo yue were related with min yue, nanyue, etc etc, that means they would have similarities with the dongson culture too, right? BUT THEY DON'T. however, similar dongson cultures are found in cambodia.
khmer and viets share the austro-asiatic language.
this is fucking shame, so much for viet pride but now seeing so many vietnamese try to be east asian and shit is fucking embarrassing, this is so gay for real
@YuDumPhuck when you say "southern china used to be vietnamese's land", it's like you're saying all ethnicity who lived there as being viet. but it's not true because there are zhuang there, and hmong, and etc. viets aren't even part of the true yue people.
@YuDumPhuck you say vietnam was east asia about 1000 yrs ago and now it's not? it's either you mean culturally or geographically. it can't be geographically unless you think land mass shifted violently in just a 1000 yrs or so. so it's obvious that culturally east asian is what you mean. but that east asian culture came from the north (china), and it's not native in vietnam. it's not a coincidence that about 1000 yrs ago too, the chinese had control over vietnam. even nanyue had a chinese king.
@YuDumPhuck to sum it up, southern china was never viet land ( i think it's hilarious how some viets claim everything south of the yangzi river), and the original native south east asian culture that once flourished in the area of modern-day vietnam has been replaced that of a foreign east asian culture that came from the north, through centuries upon centuries of assimilation.

IN THIS VIDEO, the comments with the most negatives votes are the factual and truthful ones! if you read them, you'll see.
i guess some dirty yuons are afraid of people seeing their real story. instead of trying to retort any comments, instead of trying to have a sensible argument, they instead just thumbs-down these comments (if prior, making-up stories don't work). why? because truth is against them. they cannot debate against that.
I don't understand why Chinese people came here and said something about Korea? Why? Isn't this relative to Vietnam that relatives to East Asia or South Asia?
Hey! Chinese! what's your big problem? Please leave us (Korean) alone! We don't wanna be a part of Chinese tribes~ Language itself so fucking different!
@SNSDTVgeneration you have to understand that content of the video. it's not only about nations in east asia, but also about confucianism.
now, i havent seen any of the recent comments here against koreans, but i do know there is this thing going on where koreans are claiming confucius.
if koreans are making such claims, then i guess that's why they said something about korea. maybe the chinese dont want koreans to be part of chinese tribes, history, and culture either.
lol I'm sorry, but Korean is NOTHING with Han-Chinese. You Chinese have a lot of differently significant ethnic minorities. But No in Korea. Sinocentrism(All Asian people came from China)? xDDDDDDDD This's the most stupidest ideology what Han-Chinese people thinking like that.
@SNSDTVgeneration who said anything about sinocentrism?? who said chinese and koreans are similar? not me. even i wouldnt believe that for a moment.
in fact, koreans are guilty of claiming people and things that aren't theirs, for example, confucius and confucianism. that's one of the possible reasons why they're talking about korea in this video (which you were wondering about earlier).
so i agree, chinese and koreans are different, so stop claiming confucius.

@milad2007halo3 you have to understand that vietnamese always think theyre east asian. or at least, they want to be east asian. and they call that "pride". lol.
@formanyreason cannt you just talk without saying shut up etc?? like what is ur problem ur like writing a essay right now and i cant understand half of what ur talking about bcuz its all messed up and ur grammer is like shit
well, it goes like this, all southeast asians(and very few chinese) have east asians genes in them and also austronesian genes. They are mixture of east asians and austronesians..Among southeast asians, vietnamese has highest frequency of east asian genes(Mongolian Invasion..). rate differs person to person. Culture will be similar to Chinese since ithey are geographically close.
Many Asians naturally have white skin. It has nothing to do with white people. Since that trait predates white people. Ever since contact between Chinese and Europeans. Whites were always referred to as barbarians ever since Emperor Chien Lung's Letter to King George.
The Chinese never said, they have white skin too. They must be our equals.
@Lordofthenipplerings Chien Lung to King George: "European officials in my capital are forbidden to hold intercourse with Chinese subjects; they are restricted within the limits of their appointed residences, and may not go about propagating their religion. The distinction between Chinese and barbarian is most strict, and your Ambassador's request that barbarians shall be given full liberty to disseminate their religion is utterly unreasonable".
Emperor Qianlong's letter to King George was sooo bad ass. Mad respects to Qianlong upholding tributary relationship of Ming China, and mad respects to ROC by still laying claim to Outer Mongolia despite PRC wussying out under Soviet sphere of influence.
@Phead128 It was far too distant an event. Outer Mongolia was carved up by the Soviets during the ROC. ROC was forced to agree to the terms since it was fighting a war against the Japanese. By the time PRC came into control, Outer Mongolia was already gone.
PRC agreed to Outer Mongolia as a sovereign independent state, while ROC never recognized the independence of Outer Mongolia. De-facto independence was achieved under ROC watch in 1921, but when Mongolian state was formed in 1945, only PRC was forced to recognize Mongolia, not ROC.
ROC still maintains claims as successor of the Qing dynasty on the mainland, which includes PRC and Outer Mongolia.
@Phead128 "In August 1945 Mongolian forces also took part in the Soviet Manchurian Strategic Offensive Operation in Inner Mongolia. The Soviet threat of seizing parts of Inner Mongolia[citation needed] induced China to recognize Outer Mongolia's independence, provided that a referendum was held. The referendum took place on October 20, 1945, with (according to official numbers) 100% of the electorate voting for independence". So the ROC agreed to it twice.
All you fools who think "white skin" is a mark of superior "East Asian " traits still live under the influence of white men colonialism. Asians love to have their daughters marry white men, which is why in the West, where I used to live (England,USA, Canada), interracial dating rate between white males and East Asian males is so high. Asians whore out their women. Asians in HK select mixed race (often white halfie) to star in their movies, and tell real Asian people this is "beauty". SHAME!!
@LoveVietUnity in your list of "gdp ppp pf countries of confucian values in 2050", why did you leave out china? and i'm sure it's not accidental, as you didnt even leave them out in the title of your video (as of now). they'd probably have the highest monetary number by 2050.
is it because they're communist that you purposely left them out? you know, even their government are quite confucian. and confucius is honored in his home province in shandong, china. theye ven honored him in beijing 2008
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@LoveVietUnity but i'm guessing that it's not because of communism that made you make that choice of not including them. (vietnam is communist too, but theyre in the list)
i think it's just your personal resentment of the chinese, you being a vietnamese. you dislike them in history for their domination, but what's IRONIC is that their domination introduced their revered sage's philosophy (confucianism) to you.
not including china in confucianism is just as pathetic as it gets lol.
@ThePeeBottle “Teaching people with an immense and generous heart, even on immoral people, is the power of Southern people. Gentlemen act like that. Rushing into battles, embracing saddles, and wearing armors until death without discouragement is the power of Northern people. Cruel people act like that.” - Confucius
@ThePeeBottle The “Southern” people mentioned by Confucius represents the Lạc Việt people of the South while the “Northern” people represents the nomadic tribes of the Zhou Dynasty. Confucius made this statement as criticism of the Chinese people of that era, comparing their barbaric, violent, and immoral lifestyle to the peaceful, civilized, and intelligent people of the Southern country.
if anything, those northern tribes that many of the ancient chinese, like confucius, describe are not chinese. read about the hua-yi comparison. the northern tribes are a reference to altaic peoples.
you immediately think that when he refers to the people of the south, it means it the "viet" people. lol. civilized? intelligent? XD
keep making up things to place a footprint in someone else's great history. whatever helps you sleep at night.
yi were considered to be the mongolians and tatars from the north, and even miaos and viets from the south (speaking of miaos, i think many viets are confusing their history with the miao/hmong).
eastasiandictator (nice name btw) purposely misinterpreted that message to benefit his people's image lol. he used the words "civilized and intelligent" on the basis of nothing. i mean, his "civilization" couldnt even record their own history lmao.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@EastAsiandictator and what was the point of the reply to me anyway?? i said to lovevietunity "not including china in confucianism is just as pathetic as it gets", so what does the northern/souther people's comparison got anything to do with it?
unless you're implying that confucius isnt chinese and/or he didnt like his culture (either way, both senseless, yet typical, bs from "some" people).
you cant even prove that confucius was referring to you, yet you get so high with all these false info.
@LoveVietUnity Why didn't you include China??? Which is the heart and origin of Confucianism. And what is the source that you are referring to??? and what is the Per Capita PPP ??? Also....Vietnam is not NORTH-East Asia. If we were about to have a look at ALL Asia...you should not forget to include Indonesia, India and Bangladesh and Kazakhstan.
@wjssz , What documeted real history. NOrth veitnam was part of China . South Vietnamese have very large flat noses with huge nastrils. They are the real viets .Viets aren't east asians. They are southeast asians.
Viet came from south yangzi river but not China.Viet is descendant of Baiyue who was invade by Chinese. Now only Viet has independent.Other Yue was sinizied by chinese.
@13nbui \Viet came from south yangzi river but not China.Viet is descendant of Baiyue who was invade by Chinese. Now only Viet has independent.Other Yue was sinizied by chinese.
so interesting comment, i just gonna something that Vietnam was a part of China in tang dynasty, and then Viet became a country, nowadays, vietnamese ppl just look like other eastern asian ppl such as chinese, japanese and korean. but the culture is kinda different
I'm sorry but Vietnamese and Chinese people unless "northern Chinese" because they mixed with Altaic people (Koreans, Manchus, etc) they don't look like Koreans or Japanese.
Most Chinese and Vietnamese look similar, even the language sound similar to most peoples' untrain ear.
@KatiushaVN4 for example, the traditional dress of Vietnam isnt Aodai today, remont to the history, the vietnamese costume is like Ming attire while chinese ppl were under the manchu's control, but vietnamese ppl conserved the Ming attire and Ming culture, but nowadays, vietnamese aodai isnt very true, i think, so, thats why i say vietnamese culture is kinda different
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@spachnzcl if vietnam's culture is based on the ming, then that means viet culture is based on the han (hoa) culture or chinese culture. because the ming are han.
in retrospect, vietnam was under (at least the northern half of it) the ming control aka under chinese control. and the costume that you're talking about is the hanfu (or han clothing).
but if you look nowadays, vietnamese wear aodai as a national costume (aodai is from manchurian cheongsam), while in china, they have a hanfu movement
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@spachnzcl what's funny is that you try to hold the ming identity when it obviously isnt even vietnam's original identity. where's your viet pride?
it's almost as if you're saying you're more chinese than the chinese themselves, or that you're trying to take the ming away from the chinese lol. the chinese didnt like the qing either...then a republic is born.
an interesting fact is, during the qing, the manchus even adopted han culture and language. today, manchu is almost an instinct language.
@kim4738 ummm I think other southeast asian countries' cultures are influenced mostly by India. But Vietnam is not because Vietnam was dominated by China for 1000 years, so the culture is pretty much almost the same as Chinese. And we have quite a lot of words which are the same as Chinese. Japan has Kanji, Korea has hangul and Vietnam has "Hán Tự". However Vietnam doesn't use Chinese characters anymore because France dominated Vietnam for 100 years. Hope that helps! :D
@formanyreason cham are proud to be vietnamese and they love vietnam more than us. However, khmer people dont like they country and all they do is blaming on other people
if you hate han culture so much, then stop claiming han chinese dynasties and culture. as ive told you over and over now, they are supposed to be your prime historical enemy through out the years. go stick to your true culture then. nothing wrong with that.
and then you go on and on about the 3 family names of yen, chan, and lee.....
i wouldnt be surprised if you started to claim jackie chan and bruce lee lol!
@formanyreason i know that kinh/jing/gin is an ethnicity, i never said it was just a language. they can speak in whatever language that they grew up with, but you cannot deny their original language. they have a native language that's part of the mon-khmer family. ethnically and linguistically (as ive said so many times now), viets and khmers, and even chams are closely related.
what point are you even trying to make with the language vs ethnicity topic??
@formanyreason zhao is not a player in the ball game? do you mean he was just following orders? if so, then that's actually what i said. he was following orders from the qin emperor, qin shi huang di, who is ethnic han.
if you hate zhao tuo for what he did (before and after being the king of nanyue), then you should hate the emperor qin even more for ordering it to his generals. that's one of my points earlier on, that Qin is han chinese. so stop claiming it.
@formanyreason Laugh my ass out lack of brilliant. Please look into the mirror and self reflect on yourself. At least I have a brain not like you don't know whether if you're a robot or photocopy machine.Even scolding still need copy and paste.WTF man,you this fucking failed loser!
@formanyreason You're a bloody piece of junk that people will just avoid and scold you for without any public spirit. Why a piece of crap will be appear in the house or street.Didn't other people toss you into rubbish dump? Why are you here to spoil the enviroment?Gross~
@formanyreason Are you stupid or dumb. Please I look perfect without going through plastic surgery not like you no matter how much of plastic surgery on your face you still look like a piece of shit.People will just wipe their their shit at you because you're a bloody shit dickhead.Your a fucker with no anus and you shut with your mouth so it makes you a flirty shit of crap.Disgusting scumbag bastard.
@formanyreason YOU CRAZY BASTARD BORN WITH DISTORDED DICK WHICH USE YOUR BLOODY DICK TO ACT AS A DEVICE TO ATTACK PEOPLE. YOUR NONSENSE IS OFFICIALLY A LAUGHING STOCK TO THE WORLD. ALL THANKS TO YOU, YOUR COUNTRY IS FAMOUS NOW WITH SUCH A TALENT LIKE YOU.
@formanyreason But I agree with you. It's because of my face that most Korean go for plastic surgery. The reason is because I'm too perfect,so people want to plastic to look more perfect.Understand?Amazing isn't it?
@formanyreason I'm thinking whether you have a brain? You're far worst than a retard.Omfg, what you are saying are totally make no sense.Wow!I wonder if you're some kind of photocopying machine or a robot.Irrelevant man~Hahaha fucking imbecile retarded asshole trying to make a fool of himself.Oh man~I PITY YOU.
@formanyreason Fuck off.Stop acting like a historian here.Wow!You are trying to say that Emperor Qin who unified china is not a Chinese? So he's what Vietnamese? What a joke. You imbecile swine, trying to 'uncover the truth' of past history.Don't make me laugh man,who are you?You think what are you travelling from the past? What make you think what you said are the truth and the history book are all make up and covering history?
@formanyreason I think you're seriously sick in your damn mind and trying to seek some pathetic attention here. Just realised that you're an Anti-Korean and giving repeating rude comment about them in their videos. Hey, since you hate Korean so much and perhaps Chinese and Japanese too, whats the point of proving Vietnam as an East Asia country as the matter of fact that this 3 country are originally EA? Just accept yourself for who you are please you pea brain.
@formanyreason and to prove that viets are native in south east asia, your first tribes like the lac viets, are associated with the dong son culture, are natives in that area. not in the north.
dong son culture is linked with mon-khmer, because cambodia had those tribes too, and left similar artifacts.
lol, and you come here discriminating the cambodians and the chams. they are your closer brothers. whats wrong being south east asian? why do you hate it so much?
@M3diaCultur3 Wow, i'm amazed by your intelligence and historian like way of expressing. Some people just can't understand without countless times of explaination.
i try my best to explain as clearly and as concise as possible, especially on youtube.
but it seems that no matter how much i try to convey a fact about vietnam's history ( facts of which are even accepted by most of the world, including vietnam) to formanyreason, he/she just seems to not get it. or maybe he/she is just in denial.
but apparently, im an "incestuous illiterate scumbag".
@formanyreason vietnamese often translate Zhao Tuo to Trieu Da. but just because you translated his real name into a kinh name, doesnt make him kinh.
he became the king, and like you said, ruled with his family, ethnicity, and culture, and he ruled with his last name "Zhao". but he was chinese. and he allowed the rulers of nanyue to include both ethnic hoa (han chinese) and the native kinh. do you understand? the kinhs/viets are natives of south east asia.
@formanyreason nanyue was a kingdom located in parts of southern china and northern "vietnam". the country namviet was taken from the original name of the kingdom of nanyue. modern-day vietnam doesn't fully encompass the geographical area of nanyue, and rightfully so, because nanyue is a sinicized kingdom. you know what sinicize means? it means that, what ever culture before the kingdom of nanyue was established, it was changed to sinitic culture. that was Zhao Tuo's mission. it was his orders.
@formanyreason in asia, there's more than 2 nations that share a common culture because of historical interaction.
and be careful when you say "Khmers and Cham are Austronesian sub-specie" because Kinhs (vietnamese) are related to khmers, and they belong to the austroasiatic ethno-linguistic family. that's why many vietnamese looks like cambodians. you're denying your own heritage.
@formanyreason the han are the chinese. chinese is not just a language(s), they are a cultured people, different from kinh (viet), and they have a far older civilization compared to the kinh. qin shi huangdi, the emperor of qin is han. zhao tuo is han. they introduced their culture to you.
the jing/gin,kinh, originated in a land what is now called vietnam, in southeast asia. they came from vietnam and went to southern china centuries ago, just go read a book.
@formanyreason he open his way for you to the south? vietnamese were already in the south lol.
qin is chinese. and zhao tuo was the one who made ways for the chinese to move down south. zhao tuo is chinese. he's not viet, so he cant be a backstabber to viets, if he is not viet in the first place.
viets regarded him as a king, but now an invader, because he's chinese who colonized parts of kinh regions. stop dreaming. you never had a great dynasty like the chinese qin dynasty.
@formanyreason first 3 kingdoms? do you mean the first 3 chinese dynasties? they are the xia, shang, zhou dynasties, all of them are chinese.
you got to accept reality buddy. none of those people were viet. just accept who you are and be proud of it. there's no reason for you to start claiming other people's culture, just because your history isnt as grand.
vietnamese (kinh) are related to khmers and chams.
@formanyreason no matter how much you try to deny your own history, viet's origin is in south east asia.
you're claiming you were the first ones in east asia? is that what you mean? and then you just migrated to the south to find peace? give me a date or timezone, give me a reference, or a reliable source to back your claims. i highly doubt you can provide it.
the qin dynasty built the great wall. qin is chinese. not vietnamese lol. where do you get your facts from?
@formanyreason the fact is, the chinese have an older civilization than viets. they taught you the many parts of the culture you have today. and if you talk about ethnics and culture, viets have different culture from the chinese originally, and viets are closer with south east asians like the austronesians ethnically and linguistically. and geography is just as important as the ethnicity and culture, and the viets did not come from east asia, theyre from south east asia.
@formanyreason nanyue was a chinese kingdom in southern china, and parts of northern vietnam. the capital was in guangzhou. this kingdom was created by a chinese king, who was formerly the general that was sent down by the qin emperor that i was talking about earlier. the king/general's name is zhao tuo. he becamse nanyue's first emperor, but in modern days, viets call him an invader. it shows that he's not viet, but chinese. they are different people.
@formanyreason like i said, qin emperor sent down a general to the south to sinicize it. that's a fact.
nguyen, tran, le are just the vietnamese translation of chinese names they adopted throughout history, not the other way around. it doesnt even mean they're related.
like the korean lee, they derived that from the chinese lee/li.
the name "vietnam" is just veit translation of the chinese name "nanyue".
it's just like how you translated yen, chan, lee, etc. later on through history.
@formanyreason Are you a barbarian? People here are just stating their opinion and facts they knew yet you're making a huge mountain out of a small hole when you disagree. I can understand for your well being of how much you want to prove that Vietnam is part of East Asia. But your ill manner and childish way is making a shame out of Vietnamese. You should accept yourself for who you are but not forcing people for self-acceptance you jackass.
@formanyreason btw, it's a known fact that some latinized vietnamese names you see today were derived from chinese names. NOT the other way around.
the uploader of this video is vietnamese, but at least he/she doesn't make overblown claims like you do. read the description of the video. the first sentence at least, including the date. even that fact alone shows that vietnamese are different, especially from the people of the northern chinese dynasties like what you just claimed lol!
@formanyreason are you actually claiming the shang, song, and the qin dynasties as viet?? LOL!
if you want to do some research, you'll know that the shang, qin, and song were centered in the mid-north, where their capitals were. quite far from the southern "nanyue", which viets regularly claim as well.
fyi, the emperor of qin sent down a general to the south (including where vietnam is today) to change it's culture. in other words, viets were/are different culturally, ethnically, linguistically
@formanyreason I don't really get what you mean and i don't really care. I'm a Chinese with one part of Japanese grandparents. When i was child. i always wonder why Korean and Japanese does not speak Chinese since they look totally same. And when i grow up. I realise that Vietnamese look similar to Chinese too. And my parents told me that Vietnamese were also Chinese back then. I'm proud to be Chinese/Japanese and i like Korean too. YELLOW SKIN. But Viet this days are getting darker skin.
@Marziconion culturally, Vietnamese should be similar to Cambodians.
some say Vietnamese look like East Asians, but sometimes, they look like Filipinos too or Thai. i don't think they're east asian in geography, looks, linguistically, or culturally.
if a Vietnamese is a Christian, does that mean theyre "Western". no, it doesn't.
@M3diaCultur3 Actually you are wrong. Vietnam was colonized by China for 1000 year, this even makes Vietnam the nearest country in term of nature, look, language, culture... to China. Vietnam's later conquest to the South is why some people in Vietnam are "similar to Cambodians" like what you say. But Northern Vietnamese originated in China.
@NoAuPlz Some people in Viet look similar to Cambodians, it's simply because they're Cambodians who is living in Vietnam as a minority ethnic. Some ones even don't know their real origin because of history situation. But if he/she looks too dark and has many different features in fact compared to most of others around, he/she 95% seems a Cambodian origin. As I said above, because of history situation, some families tried to hide their origin and live as a Kinh for same benefits in life like Kinh

@GreatViet lmao, vietnamese are so keen about skin color. viets are so obsessed with thinking theyre fair-skinned that they even discriminate their own if theyre brown haha! this actually coincides with the fact that viets always want to be considered east asian (the lighter skinned people) XDD
now you blame kmhers for posing as viets, or being confused as viets for their country's "brown image". face it, viets and khmers are related in ethnolinguistics. but viets are the ones who are confused.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@GreatViet in fact, you have to ask yourself, why do many people refer viets as brown? the answer is it's what they see for the most part. in other words, if what you say is true, that means majority of the people in vietnam are cambodians (which could be true, since it was part of the khmer empire). you rarely see any light-skinned viets. even more rare when you exclude the ones that put a load of baby powder on their faces lol.
@kinhnegrito I don't know why khmer like you always claim that Viet was from khmer. You think that khmer and Viet look the same ? Viet immigrated to the current land from the North while khmer located in the South much long time ago, so what is the similarity between khmer and Viet ? Remember that only Viets working outside, under the hot weather, so they have brown skin, while most of remaining Viet is looking light (except the khmer or other ethnic origins I talked about before).

@GreatViet i think u viet and khmer look alike, malay have brown and light skin ppls, so as viets, i cant differentiate malays and viets if malays din wear tudung..
@kinggodzilla100 you think so but it's not so, I don't negative that there are some mixed Vietnamese or people of other ethnics are living in Vietnam as a Vietnamese, but they are NOT real Vietnamese or Kinh ethnic (Kinh ethnic who immigrated from the North). The real Kinh people do NOT look like other minority ethnics. However, we real Viets always respect all other ethnics' good work for develop of Vietnam, like Malaysia or Singapore, NO distinction !

@GreatViet it's funny too, vietnamese always defends themselves (for example, from the accusations that they share roots with khmers) by saying they came from the north. but at the same time, when they have arguments with chinese, their argument against them is that the chinese came from the north.....so in terms of foreigners coming down and conquering, you viets are as guilty as the chinese.....
but truthfully, you didnt come from the north. just highlighting the hypocrisy of your false argmnt
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@GreatViet viet and khmer have similar roots and are even in the same language group. jeez, your obsession with skin color is astounding. lol, so now it's the sun's fault for making viets look dark hahaha! viets are born with brown skin, and some khmers are actually lighter than viets, naturally. my point is, it's pointless to constantly use skin color as a main "difference or distinction" between kmhers and viets.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@GreatViet and talking about discrimination, you just told someone here that you respected other ethnics......while talking about skin color and while saying how viets never look like the minorities in their country (when we fully know they almost look the same). really, is that really respect? and you're going to say that you respect those only who helped develop your country, which would imply that for you, no minority helped develop your country, since it appears you respect none of them.
6:11 you should edit this picture. this is an champa temple .. it's has nothing to do with our viet culture. >"< because in the past we taken their land so

Any people to the south were called yue, just as every single race to the west and north were called hu (horse-riding barbarians). later on this term got adopted by the vietnamese as a name fro their nation.
anacrusisztc 3 months ago
@anacrusisztc so? i think you haven't even tried to read back to their origin instead of reading the term "yue"?
gearofwar113 3 months ago
@anacrusisztc As you said "Yue" or "Viet" is a "generic" term for people who lives in the south, but actually you guys called us Yue Nan, why included NAN ? Nan is a universal word to describe South, so basically you guys call us South South? Doesn't make any sense, Yue is the way we Viets call ourselves not by Han people. Viet or Yue in Vietnamese means "Superior".
soulkeeper2912 2 months ago
@soulkeeper2912 Its funny, but the word yue in chinese means 'superior' as well. In fact, it means 'superior' in Japanese and even in korean, when they still used chinese characters. The fact that vietnamese adapted a chinese name to call themselves speaks volumes already. secondly, 'yue' is the ancient name used to refer to certain southern regions, from the warring states kingdom 'Yue' to the breakaway state 'Nanyue'. Yue Nan just means, 'south of yue', which is exactly where vietnam is.
anacrusisztc 2 months ago
@soulkeeper2912 In fact, provinces in China keep their ancient names till this day, though they are used rarely, e.g. on car plates to show where its issued. Shaanxi is 'jin', Yunnan is 'Dian', zhejiang is 'wu', sichuan is 'shu', and guess what is Guangdong? you guessed it - its 'yue'. In a sense, vientamese are just saying they live south of Guangdong ( a.k.a yue nan).
anacrusisztc 2 months ago
@anacrusisztc However in Vietnam, there are 56 ethic types of people ,so to distinguish ourselves "true Vietnamese", we called ourselves "Kinh" which means people lives in the cities. For example,"Kinh Do" means CAPITAL. Like NanKing, or Beiking, or Tokyo (Dong Kinh = East Capital).
soulkeeper2912 2 months ago
The vietnamese language is an Austroasiatic language. Other austroasiatic languages are khmer, mon, and the munda languages spoken in India, along with the languages of the nicobar islands and orang asli of Indonesia. This means that the ancient viet people migrated from somewhere to the southwest, and not from the north. While vietnamese people have a proud history, science and fact cannot be denied, or else we would all humour you by saying viets came from mongolians or what bullshit.

Northeast Asia of the three countries and Southeast Asia are different from Historically. Southern China and Vietnam are related. Historically
cuwnrdlwkrlawjddlf 4 months ago
the problem with viets is that they use the very loose word "viet/yue" as some kind of concrete term with a definitive description. so when their country and nationality is officially "vietnam/vietnamese", they automatically think all places and people that were referred as "yue" belongs to them, or is closely related to them, or is the same as them.
it's funny, they claim people residing in modern-day southern china, but NEVER want anything to do with khmers or chams. they're part of "yue" too.
kinhnegrito 5 months ago
@NoChineseNdogsAllow and??
what part of "viets are not truly yue" do you not understand? luo yue/lac viet are related to the dongson culture, a south east asian culture with traces as far south as indonesia. if luo yue were related with min yue, nanyue, etc etc, that means they would have similarities with the dongson culture too, right? BUT THEY DON'T. however, similar dongson cultures are found in cambodia.
khmer and viets share the austro-asiatic language.

kinhnegrito 5 months ago
@YuDumPhuck you say vietnam was east asia about 1000 yrs ago and now it's not? it's either you mean culturally or geographically. it can't be geographically unless you think land mass shifted violently in just a 1000 yrs or so. so it's obvious that culturally east asian is what you mean. but that east asian culture came from the north (china), and it's not native in vietnam. it's not a coincidence that about 1000 yrs ago too, the chinese had control over vietnam. even nanyue had a chinese king.
kinhnegrito 5 months ago
@YuDumPhuck to sum it up, southern china was never viet land ( i think it's hilarious how some viets claim everything south of the yangzi river), and the original native south east asian culture that once flourished in the area of modern-day vietnam has been replaced that of a foreign east asian culture that came from the north, through centuries upon centuries of assimilation.

@SNSDTVgeneration you have to understand that content of the video. it's not only about nations in east asia, but also about confucianism.
now, i havent seen any of the recent comments here against koreans, but i do know there is this thing going on where koreans are claiming confucius.
if koreans are making such claims, then i guess that's why they said something about korea. maybe the chinese dont want koreans to be part of chinese tribes, history, and culture either.
kinhnegrito 5 months ago
@kinhnegrito
lol I'm sorry, but Korean is NOTHING with Han-Chinese. You Chinese have a lot of differently significant ethnic minorities. But No in Korea. Sinocentrism(All Asian people came from China)? xDDDDDDDD This's the most stupidest ideology what Han-Chinese people thinking like that.
SNSDTVgeneration 5 months ago
@SNSDTVgeneration who said anything about sinocentrism?? who said chinese and koreans are similar? not me. even i wouldnt believe that for a moment.
in fact, koreans are guilty of claiming people and things that aren't theirs, for example, confucius and confucianism. that's one of the possible reasons why they're talking about korea in this video (which you were wondering about earlier).
so i agree, chinese and koreans are different, so stop claiming confucius.

Lordofthenipplerings 10 months ago

Phead128 8 months ago
@Phead128 It was far too distant an event. Outer Mongolia was carved up by the Soviets during the ROC. ROC was forced to agree to the terms since it was fighting a war against the Japanese. By the time PRC came into control, Outer Mongolia was already gone.
Lordofthenipplerings 8 months ago
@Lordofthenipplerings

The referendum took place on October 20, 1945, with (according to official numbers) 100% of the electorate voting for independence". So the ROC agreed to it twice.

@ThePeeBottle The “Southern” people mentioned by Confucius represents the Lạc Việt people of the South while the “Northern” people represents the nomadic tribes of the Zhou Dynasty.

@formanyreason zhao is not a player in the ball game? do you mean he was just following orders? if so, then that's actually what i said. he was following orders from the qin emperor, qin shi huang di, who is ethnic han.

stay with your dong son culture.

@formanyreason and to prove that viets are native in south east asia, your first tribes like the lac viets, are associated with the dong son culture, are natives in that area. not in the north.
dong son culture is linked with mon-khmer, because cambodia had those tribes too, and left similar artifacts.
lol, and you come here discriminating the cambodians and the chams. they are your closer brothers. whats wrong being south east asian? why do you hate it so much?

i try my best to explain as clearly and as concise as possible, especially on youtube.
but it seems that no matter how much i try to convey a fact about vietnam's history ( facts of which are even accepted by most of the world, including vietnam) to formanyreason, he/she just seems to not get it. or maybe he/she is just in denial.
but apparently, im an "incestuous illiterate scumbag".
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason vietnamese often translate Zhao Tuo to Trieu Da. but just because you translated his real name into a kinh name, doesnt make him kinh.
he became the king, and like you said, ruled with his family, ethnicity, and culture, and he ruled with his last name "Zhao". but he was chinese. and he allowed the rulers of nanyue to include both ethnic hoa (han chinese) and the native kinh. do you understand? the kinhs/viets are natives of south east asia.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason nanyue was a kingdom located in parts of southern china and northern "vietnam". the country namviet was taken from the original name of the kingdom of nanyue. modern-day vietnam doesn't fully encompass the geographical area of nanyue, and rightfully so, because nanyue is a sinicized kingdom. you know what sinicize means? it means that, what ever culture before the kingdom of nanyue was established, it was changed to sinitic culture. that was Zhao Tuo's mission. it was his orders.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason in asia, there's more than 2 nations that share a common culture because of historical interaction.
and be careful when you say "Khmers and Cham are Austronesian sub-specie" because Kinhs (vietnamese) are related to khmers, and they belong to the austroasiatic ethno-linguistic family. that's why many vietnamese looks like cambodians. you're denying your own heritage.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason the han are the chinese. chinese is not just a language(s), they are a cultured people, different from kinh (viet), and they have a far older civilization compared to the kinh. qin shi huangdi, the emperor of qin is han. zhao tuo is han. they introduced their culture to you.
the jing/gin,kinh, originated in a land what is now called vietnam, in southeast asia. they came from vietnam and went to southern china centuries ago, just go read a book.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason he open his way for you to the south? vietnamese were already in the south lol.
qin is chinese. and zhao tuo was the one who made ways for the chinese to move down south. zhao tuo is chinese. he's not viet, so he cant be a backstabber to viets, if he is not viet in the first place.
viets regarded him as a king, but now an invader, because he's chinese who colonized parts of kinh regions. stop dreaming. you never had a great dynasty like the chinese qin dynasty.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason first 3 kingdoms? do you mean the first 3 chinese dynasties? they are the xia, shang, zhou dynasties, all of them are chinese.
you got to accept reality buddy. none of those people were viet. just accept who you are and be proud of it. there's no reason for you to start claiming other people's culture, just because your history isnt as grand.
vietnamese (kinh) are related to khmers and chams.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason no matter how much you try to deny your own history, viet's origin is in south east asia.
you're claiming you were the first ones in east asia? is that what you mean? and then you just migrated to the south to find peace? give me a date or timezone, give me a reference, or a reliable source to back your claims. i highly doubt you can provide it.
the qin dynasty built the great wall. qin is chinese. not vietnamese lol. where do you get your facts from?
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason and be careful of who you accuse of being illiterate. try reading your own comments for a change, if you can.....
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason the fact is, the chinese have an older civilization than viets. they taught you the many parts of the culture you have today. and if you talk about ethnics and culture, viets have different culture from the chinese originally, and viets are closer with south east asians like the austronesians ethnically and linguistically. and geography is just as important as the ethnicity and culture, and the viets did not come from east asia, theyre from south east asia.
enjoy lol.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason nanyue was a chinese kingdom in southern china, and parts of northern vietnam. the capital was in guangzhou. this kingdom was created by a chinese king, who was formerly the general that was sent down by the qin emperor that i was talking about earlier. the king/general's name is zhao tuo. he becamse nanyue's first emperor, but in modern days, viets call him an invader. it shows that he's not viet, but chinese. they are different people.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason like i said, qin emperor sent down a general to the south to sinicize it. that's a fact.
nguyen, tran, le are just the vietnamese translation of chinese names they adopted throughout history, not the other way around. it doesnt even mean they're related.
like the korean lee, they derived that from the chinese lee/li.
the name "vietnam" is just veit translation of the chinese name "nanyue".
it's just like how you translated yen, chan, lee, etc. later on through history.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason Are you a barbarian? People here are just stating their opinion and facts they knew yet you're making a huge mountain out of a small hole when you disagree. I can understand for your well being of how much you want to prove that Vietnam is part of East Asia. But your ill manner and childish way is making a shame out of Vietnamese. You should accept yourself for who you are but not forcing people for self-acceptance you jackass.
Retrofeelove 1 year ago
@formanyreason btw, it's a known fact that some latinized vietnamese names you see today were derived from chinese names. NOT the other way around.
the uploader of this video is vietnamese, but at least he/she doesn't make overblown claims like you do. read the description of the video. the first sentence at least, including the date. even that fact alone shows that vietnamese are different, especially from the people of the northern chinese dynasties like what you just claimed lol!
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@formanyreason are you actually claiming the shang, song, and the qin dynasties as viet?? LOL!
if you want to do some research, you'll know that the shang, qin, and song were centered in the mid-north, where their capitals were. quite far from the southern "nanyue", which viets regularly claim as well.
fyi, the emperor of qin sent down a general to the south (including where vietnam is today) to change it's culture. in other words, viets were/are different culturally, ethnically, linguistically

Marziconion 1 year ago
@Marziconion culturally, Vietnamese should be similar to Cambodians.
some say Vietnamese look like East Asians, but sometimes, they look like Filipinos too or Thai. i don't think they're east asian in geography, looks, linguistically, or culturally.
if a Vietnamese is a Christian, does that mean theyre "Western". no, it doesn't.
M3diaCultur3 1 year ago
@M3diaCultur3 Actually you are wrong. Vietnam was colonized by China for 1000 year, this even makes Vietnam the nearest country in term of nature, look, language, culture... to China. Vietnam's later conquest to the South is why some people in Vietnam are "similar to Cambodians" like what you say. But Northern Vietnamese originated in China.
NoAuPlz 11 months ago

@GreatViet in fact, you have to ask yourself, why do many people refer viets as brown? the answer is it's what they see for the most part. in other words, if what you say is true, that means majority of the people in vietnam are cambodians (which could be true, since it was part of the khmer empire). you rarely see any light-skinned viets. even more rare when you exclude the ones that put a load of baby powder on their faces lol.
im a cow? then you're a monkey.
kinhnegrito 8 months ago
@kinhnegrito I don't know why khmer like you always claim that Viet was from khmer. You think that khmer and Viet look the same ? Viet immigrated to the current land from the North while khmer located in the South much long time ago, so what is the similarity between khmer and Viet ? Remember that only Viets working outside, under the hot weather, so they have brown skin, while most of remaining Viet is looking light (except the khmer or other ethnic origins I talked about before).

kinggodzilla100 7 months ago

@GreatViet viet and khmer have similar roots and are even in the same language group. jeez, your obsession with skin color is astounding. lol, so now it's the sun's fault for making viets look dark hahaha! viets are born with brown skin, and some khmers are actually lighter than viets, naturally. my point is, it's pointless to constantly use skin color as a main "difference or distinction" between kmhers and viets.
in fact, it's a discrimination....
kinhnegrito 7 months ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
@GreatViet and talking about discrimination, you just told someone here that you respected other ethnics......while talking about skin color and while saying how viets never look like the minorities in their country (when we fully know they almost look the same). really, is that really respect? and you're going to say that you respect those only who helped develop your country, which would imply that for you, no minority helped develop your country, since it appears you respect none of them.
