I switched back to my old youtube look too but when trying to edit modules and put tick to display friends, the option isn't there. I am desilussioned by the new "improvements" of youtube, I made sure to unclick putting ads with my videos. If the friends module is unavailable, will they create the module with a different name ? I hope they'll transfer my wiped out friends there.....

I think there's a transparency option on the edit channel area. Maybe you can increase it (both transparency options) so ur background can be more visible to see
