Red House was his favourite I think, it was played so often in his live shows and the variation/development between the performances over the years shows the love and pride he had for it, more than any other song.
an example of perfectly horrible bass playing. he should have been fired, if not shot, right after this song ended. you don't try to "run with" Jimi on those soaring riffs.... keep it simple and hard and on time
I think the bass player was billy cox on this preformance a mighty fine rhythm and blues player listen to power of love or burning desire. Hendrix felt he was good enough to jam with, so he got to play with jimi and you didn't case closed you don't get his job.
@rkroemer its still stoopid playing - his job was to keep that base/floor pounding for Jimi to soar above, not try to idiotically chase his licks like he's swatting flies. 1st half good, the takeoff chasing Jimi is his attempt to divert attention to himself - and a bellyflop in the attempt
NO MAMES!!!! no mames!!! pareciera que un demonio del rock ablaba atraves de la guitarra de hendrix :O me dejo pasmado!!! ni el mejor metalero ni guitarrista de cualkier genero te superara hendrix :O
@mrmojomorrison1 DO NOT SUCK!!!! do not suck!!! it seemed that a demon of the rock ablaba atraves of the hendrix guitar:O made me amazed!!! not best metalero not even guitarist of cualkier genre will overcome you hendrix:O
Oh! in that case, what he´s trying to say is this:
For fuck´s sake! (or holy shit) it seems like an rock devil speaks trough Hendrix guitar. This left me stunned!! nor the best Metal rocker nor any guitar player of any else music genre will overcome to you Hendrix :O
That is pure genius OMG!! Most musicians just play I love Hendrix he is an explorer searching the depths of tones and emotion in his mind and actual physical space. The fact that we get to go along with him is a beautiful thing, something very special. TY Jimi.
Of all the great blues and rock-n-roll guitar players I have heard/seen, Jimi and Stevie were the ones who CHANNELED through their guitars...It was like they were actually part of the instrument...
this off the album "the jimi hendrix concerts"released in 1982. all the songs just totally kick ass. you should check it out. i was blown away at how rocking this was back in 82 when i first heard it. there is a solo in stone free that is not to be believed
I bought "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts" LP in 1982, while on a short holiday in Paris. I was 15 years old. That LP changed my life. For what it's worth my opinion, the solo on this track is just one of the best solos ever played on a guitar. It's easy to understand why in those days he was a living legend among musicians. Even Miles Davis, McLaughlin and Les Paul were amazed by what he was doing.
Jimi Hendrix an Frank Marino an Robin Trower Would be one of the Concerts if He's was stil Here.... And if i ever Saw it, well There would be no more Guitar players to see.. The 3 Best Ever Guitar Players Ever.......
Just how much would Jimi Hendrix achieve if he were alive today? Musically i think we'd be treated to some exceptional levels of sound. What an artist.
He literally inverts the electric charges of the overtones
He's melting sound. The whole tune is like the 2nd movement of Beethoven's Erocia It goes higher and higher and just when you think its maxed itself out, he still surprises you.
A gift from the Gods, that is what he was and always will be. In his prime and at his best he went where no man has ever gone before. I don't any man will get to the this place where he conjured, created and melted his mind across all of Orions belt. In other word this guy is not of our mere mortal world.
Some of the sounds coming out of that guitar come from a different planet. I've heard a lot of Hendrix live over the year but that solo is incredible - it takes you to another place completely
Normally it would seem appropriate saying there's never been a finer guitarist but when you too consider the richness of his music, it almost seems too much to bear - Jeffries you big c---!
This is from the album "Albert Hall Experience". I dont know why its so hard to find on youtube, but i have the album and listen to it religiously. I'd highly highly recommend getting it. It's Jimi at his best. This version of Red House has my favorite guitar solo ever in it, for whatever it's worth.
SHIT!!!!!!!!!He was dialed in on that one. Much like a great athlete during his prime. Can't miss. He still amazes me after all these years. Who's a better blues player?
i was only thinkin a while ago that i'd compare him to lionel messi as in to compare to an all time great freakishly talented athlete... but as much as i love messi i think i'd be flatterin him, jimi's incomparable, there's no point!
@MrCatfish212 SRVs icon, hero, mentor&idol was Hendrix.SRV was badass no doubt, but Hendrix is who He channeled playing.Hendrix=divinity thru an amp. If there is a Heaven,Jimi's in the House Band on Lead, cause even God has to kick back, scratch His head sometimes and say"DAMN I DID GOOD!";)
Are you sure that is New York pop Festival ? cause i've got the Albert Hall Experience 2CD and there is exactly the same track. So i think this Red House cover come from the Royal Albert Hall concert.
the solo is outstanding, not just jimi Hendrix but also Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding (or Billy Cox i'm not sure) what a rhythm !!
@outofthespace This is definately New york pop from the Downing Stadium at Randalls Island 7/17/70. There are 2 versions of this monster floating around. This raw sounding soundboard and then there is the one off the Concerts album thats been cleaned up a bit in the studio and a touch of reverb added. The reverb makes the guitar sound so creamy with the notes just melting in your mind.
@HendrixFreakazoid yea mate, i used to have that reverb version on a tape i was given. but i wore it out lol. it took me years then to actually discover what concert it was actually from. id searched youtube but couldnt find it (which promted me to publish this), so i took a punt on a compilation cd i saw online and it was the one!, just less the reverb.
This is the best version of red house i have ever heard!..he completely tears this up and rips it a new one and puts all of it back together all at one time..absolutely amazing!
I have listened to this probably thousands of times over the last 25 years and still it smokes the living daylights out of me every time. @HendrixFreakazoid You are so right on. Jimi Hendrix live was like a paranormal event. He, at times, appears to channel the most amazing leads, while playing rhythm guitar and pulling Second Leads, out of the cosmos. I've watched on VHS were I could actually adjust the speed (old studio machine0 and my ears could hear it, but for the life of me, I could not see how he was getting so much music out of one guitar, LIVE! And this was back in the day before computer overdubs. He always AMAZES me !

So far, my favorite rendition of Red House. No one can play it like Jimi. Gary Moore, and Yngwie played great covers, but its still a Jimi thing.

I think "machine gun" solo on december 31, 1969 at Filmore East, it is one that can compete with this overwhelming version of Red House.
On 6:25 appears doble sound, is just fantastic!
