I am going to cry a tear. This was the best mall in Utah. They tour it down to make way for what? What ever they build can not to compare to Cross Roads. I grew up sluffing school at that mall. I learned more there then I ever did at school.
i miss the days when the lower level of CrossRoads was a deep dark basement with 2 arcades and a theater. Then for books, there was Deseret Book across the street @ ZCMI along with the toy department on the Lower Level there, the snack bar with cheese bread and various kinds of soft serve. Sometimes even game console trial displays or special lego displays up on the 4th floor.
A handful of shots would make for good stock footage. And it documents to some small degree someone's memories of 2 malls right across the street from one another now gone.

They bought like four blocks of down town Salt Lake and demolished it to make way for Condos and idk what else. You see it is directly across the street from Temple Square. I lived there for a few years and worked in EMS. I swear 90% of the people, mostly woman were on antidepressent meds.. Most of them were members of the LDS church or so stressed about being a good morman that they could not handle it. Sad.

Their justification had to do with trademarks used throughout the mall being protected. I had to point out to them that kicking reporters out of public places, even if they are private property, usually backfires in court, and do they really want to piss off a major newspaper over a few pictures?
Hello Salt Lakers! I have been to your City 1995 when I was 17. Everytime, when I visited one of those malls, i went to a little place in the upper levels, where I could play video games. Both of those malls are no longer there. Both of the downtown malls came down to make way for the City Creek Center Project. I have videos of those malls coming down.
Good Video though. Brings back the memories of living in SLC. Was a trucker, and worked out of there from '93-'04. The city was beautiful, and went through a lot of changes up to the '02 Olympics. Including a total revamp of the interstate system. Lots of good people there, I remember...

What a shame to see the mall go. Crossroads, ZCMI, Cottonwood. SLC leaders have no reverence for history here anymore. Just look what Draper has turned into. Look at what is happening in Sugarhouse, it makes me ill. We don't need any more freaking offices or apartments in our historic districts. SLC looks like any other city in America now.

You know, I miss these malls... the first was Crossroads Shopping Center, with a security force which was well-known for being complete pricks (once kicked me out for waving to someone on another level because I shouted); the second was ZCMI. Several great shots of downtown.
ZCMI and Crossroads Shopping Center are both gone now. The Gateway is only two stories.

For living in Utah your whole life you must not have ever gone to downtown SLC. That's the old crossroads mall.

You're joking. The second you see this video, you know it's Crossroad Plaza. I was lived from 1970 to 2004 and I know that this Crossroad Plaza. It may look different at times, but it was Crossroads

Out of all the states I've visited I'd say Utah was the most beautiful and interesting, but what's wrong with the waitresses?? They really seem to get off on that bit of power they have.

you may have missed - who knows what it is..but it was the only interesting thing I saw in the whole vid.

OMG now the Ruskies know that SLC's mall looks just like all the other malls in the USA. We're doomed! I have to laugh, because the same thing happened to me when I signed up for a cable access course in Fairfax, VA; and the security guard told me I couldn't shoot in Springfield Mall.

What a shame to see the mall go. Crossroads, ZCMI, Cottonwood. SLC leaders have no reverence for history here anymore. Just look what Draper has turned into. Look at what is happening in Sugarhouse, it makes me ill. We don't need any more freaking offices or apartments in our historic districts. SLC looks like any other city in America now.

no kidden, look at bluffdale, I grew up there and were did all the people come from hell it was a farming town and had Webbs dairy, I whent to cottonwood mall when I was in 3rd grade and sang on the xmas tree with my class, good old times. you can berly see the temple any more!

ii live in the state of utah in slc it is better than califonia sure calli has a lot of skate boarding but utah has something better than that we have snow boarding. and skate boarding and snow boarding rock that is some thing you can't beat than flordia or cali best snow on earth.

I love SLC, it is the best city in the world, especially at Christmas time...It is so amazing to walk downtown and see all of the lights and Christmas displays
