  • Elation. all of their music. good shit man.

  • Im a ballerina :)

  • love this song

  • SO SO underated

  • Erin Austin Rocks too!!!

  • Beautiful, beautiful song that talks about not long ago gone times... but they won't come back either.

Thanks OB for bring us this Master Pieces in all these years.

Many of us we are still waiting to listen an album with rarities, B-sides, demos and live versions of our favorites and other that were not that popular but they are as beautiful as this one.

Thank You TOB, and after all thank you Sire Records for believe in them, otherwise never existed TOB as we know them.

  • Terrific song. And so is 'Between Something And Nothing.'

Pretty odd to think that the singer is now a suit-wearing Intellectual Property attorney in a Minnesota law firm!

  • 1992

  • simplemente: hermosa canción

  • That was cool. I wish they played songs like this on the radio.

  • This song was so incredible, honestly. I've listened to it so many times this year, and nowhere near sick of it. This band was so missed by so many.

  • Possible new album from the Ocean Blue this year.

  • I lost her. She's was a Ballerina Out Of Control!!!

  • This band continues to amaze me. Great video too! Thanks for posting...

  • Gotta love early 90's alternative. Some of the best music ever made.

  • 1991 - 1992

  • the only good song by them in my opinion

  • @93hosted how about drifitng falling and denmark??

  • @93hosted I disagree,

  • Been a HUGE Ocean Blue fan since '89, just saw this video for the first time tonight! You gotta love youtube!

  • Great memories of College radio at Glassboro State in NJ.

  • she;s really stunning.

  • one of the best songs I've ever heard, honestly. ridiculously good.

  • I used to watch this on vhs when I was young. This is such a beautiful song.

  • mmmaat daiiimon !!!!!

  • I just found a cassette of cerulean at amoeba music in hollywood today. pretty stoked as I discovered this song late at night on vh1 classic's 120 minutes a few months ago.

  • TOB's lush and hypnotic sound was an excellent counterpoint to many of the dark dirges that was 90s music. Too bad this bad was HIGHLY underrated.

  • Ibought this cd in Sta Cruz, Street Wise records. The scenery form Sta. Crz to Monterey (on hghw 1) with this music in the car was magical.

  • Brings me back to a time when life was easy. Classic tune.

  • very nice ocean blue 1 of my fvrt band awesome

  • Such a great song... !!! I used to listen to this song in Perú during the early 90's with my older brother & cousins...

  • saw you in Santa Cruz Mighty Lemon Drops, john Wesley Harding. You were great.

  • saw you in Santa Cruz Mighty Lemon Drops, john Wesley Harding. You were great.

  • FUCKING YOUTUBE!!! STOP THE FUCKING ADS @ THE BEGINNING OF ALL VIDEOS!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • Very atmospheric and catchy song...makes me feel like so serene yet bouyant like I was relaxing by the ocean...

  • can someone please post "Crash".

  • 3 minutes and 52 seconds of condensed beauty...sublime!

  • I went to high school with these dudes.

  • cool tune

  • A friend introduced me to this band back in the mid 90's. I liked them immediately. That friend, CSS, disappeared in 1999. I just want to dedicate this to him. I hope you're out there somewhere alive and well. g

  • 89.9 STEREO SOUL.

  • Singer looks wierd. Probably the reason the band never did well. Downs face and then an obnoxiously stupid bowlcut? What was he thinking.

  • @dano555666 : You probably have a complex about your own looks. That's why you have to post stupid shit like that.

  • @rullrich100 I actually don't. He just seems to have gone out of his way to look weird. When you've got a bland voice compared to your contemporaries at the time, you can't expect a weird aesthetic choice to help.

  • @rullrich100 I know the point of music isn't to "win" but these guys come across as a wasted opportunity to me. Some great riffs and lyrics, but the composition falls behind, especially at a time when so much stuff was happening. I still like the song for what it is though. Its just very safe and structured and the band themselves didn't really reach out in terms of experimentation. Their songs are pretty much a standard beat and a token chorus'd guitar riff. People give them too much credit.

  • @dano555666 Everybody had bowl cuts in 1991. I sure did. Anyhow, so what if David wasn't a pretty boy? It's the music that matters, so why even bring that up? The band was incredible and Ballerina out of Control was a beautiful song. The band didn't fade away based on his looks. That's such a shallow thing to say! Ocean Blue and countless other great bands in the early '90s were swept away once that terrible grunge crap came along.

  • Amazing band SO underrated!

  • Nice band I used to hear the in early 90's

  • One of the most underated bands of the 90's. Drifting, Falling is one of my favorite songs ever.

  • I'm loving The Ocean Blue. Sorry I missed you in the 90's

  • why so many people from peru watch this song?

  • @cursedestiny lol in Peru are a hugh group of fans of new wave`s songs and the early 90's bands. Well all 90's band actually. And 80's wave.

  • The Ocean Blue are one of those bands that seems to pique the nostalgia of so many. Does anyone listen to them now that did not in the 90's?

  • beautiful song :3

  • Death Cab for Cutie kind of reminds me of them. This is a great song! :)

  • Still like this song after all these years. Forgot how much the sInger looks like Stuart Smalley and the Talented Mr. Ripley.

  • a masterpiece by The Ocean Blue.

  • @TheAlfie66 Very great sound...

  • I saw them in DC in '94 when I first moved here. Their show had some technical problems still it was good.

  • For some reason they bring to mind The Mighty Lemon Drops...TMLD were most prolific around 1988-89...so they shared an era with these guys...

  • i didn't know matt damon was in an early 90s indie band!

  • Are their instruments wireless? I don't see any cords.

  • @astralislux LOL!!!!! I don't see any amps or speakers either. O'h thats right, It's a video.

  • I saw the Ocean Blue in Milwaukee in 1988 or 1989, so they would have been a bit before the 90's grunge scene. I think the bands that inspired grunge were in full force such as Pixies, The Replacements and Husker Du, but the Seattle scene wasn't in effect quite yet (or at least it hadn't left Seattle).

  • Saw The Ocean Blue in Toronto when Beneath the Rhythm & SOund was released. I've got some great photos from that show at Lee's Palace. Met the guys on the street after at the hot dog stand, they were very friendly and it was great chatting with them.

  • nice song

  • lovely

  • There is no justice to pop music ....this band is AWESOME. but, i feel like its my secret. A wonderful one. timeless.

  • @hettdog agree with you much easier to listen Nirvana however two different music styles I LOVE NIRVANA but I think Ocean Blue did play some good music too just I think there was lack of recognition for them. Anyway good music never dies

  • "Cerulean" was TOB's best album, great band, grossly underrated. I met them in Philly years ago and they were such down to earth guys, they were always so good to their fans.

  • great song. is that an ironing board the keyboard is sitting on?

  • great song

  • The New Wave melodic scene still remains.

  • great band, and great guitar riffs and leads.

  • Great song, shit video.

  • love the 80s and 90s sounds, also melodic guitar riffs. Men playing great music with normal clothes is beautiful

  • Thaaaank you WB for posting these!!!!

  • temazo!

  • finding this song just now for the second time... first time was when it first came out.....

grrrr hate it when you dont hear a song enough. so thats what.... how many years? lol

  • totally agree

  • they still sound modern !!!

  • We need more Ocean Blue on YouTube. This was a band with a sound ahead of it's time.

  • Wow, first off this is an amazing song in and of itself, but than to add just a perfect video of simplicity without distractions to detract from how beautiful the song is. This is one of my all time favorites, hope others out there feel the same

  • @Dmusic1970 damn amazing video, I've never seen anything like it. A real diamond in a trash heap of rock n' roll videos.

  • saw them at a laundromat/bar in cincinnati called sudsy malone's, among other places. great shows. especially when viewed while sitting on a washing machine...

  • I didn't know Matt Damon had a band.

  • @08alexnyc come to think of it, he does look like him! anyway, great song!

  • it's hurts me listen....

  • nothing says college house parties like ocean blue

  • I can remember driving around in the 90's with my alice in chains, screaming trees, nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden and Ocean Blue cds. Most of my friends weren't into it, but man I have always loved this song.

  • @treezrok Hell Yeah!

  • when i first bought the cassette of 'cerulean' at tower in vegas, it had the music of 'afterburner' by zz top on it. very strange experience at first. great album when i got the actual ocean blue, however. my favorite by them.

  • One of the great underrated songs of the 90's.Thanks for posting.

  • always in the mood for some ocean blue.

  • its really nice to know the ocean blue is appreciated by so many....i got to see them san diego...emm in the early 90's... today they are my music comfort food!....thanks ocean blue!

  • @jacktala1 Were you at the UC SD Price Center Ballroom?? The Laughter tour with Mighty Lemondrops, and John Wesley Harding? Great Show!! I was at that one!! I think 1990?

  • Finally, you've just released one hell of a classeeeeeik but still she refuses to see the reason of the day. Anyway here's my ballerina again.

  • love this song...A LOT

  • David & the guys are GENIOUS... they have talked of new material for a long time... I'd like to hear it happen.

  • This is the first song that I've heard by them, love them already. I hope all of their songs are this good =]

  • Great song, reminds me of being in my 20's. I bought CD new and still have it.

  • Does anyone know what the band is currently up to? I know their main site states they are "working on a new album" but that message has been up there for years. I just need to know if they will ever gig again and whether or not they will put out a new album. i have seen them almost every time they come to Chicago. I actually got a chance to speak with David when they were at Schuba's. Nice guy.

  • Funny, I used to play in the Judybats...

  • i love this

  • GREETINGS FROM PSEUDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes, finally allowed on! I was lucky enough to see them open up for the Furs in DC and then saw them headline the next night in Georgetown! eons ago!

  • such a great record

  • Google the 120 Minutes archive site. It linked me to this wonderful video. That brilliant site has all the videos from 120 Minutes, going back to 1986.

  • My FAVE band of ALL TIME next to DEVO & FLOCK OF SEAGULLS, this song is PURE BRILLIANCE.

  • @eatatmargos please be joking, flock of seagulls and especially devo are garbage cans, not worthy to be spoken of in the same breath as these beastmonsters.

  • Wow ^^

  • Remember watching "120 minutes" on MTV when they played songs like this??

  • Puro Total y Absoluto ROCK 10 !!!

  • agree, need to have and see "Between Something and Nothing" as its one of thier best!!

  • The most underrated band of all time. I saw them in Hollywood in '00. Great performance!

  • The "ballerina out of control" in this video is one gorgeous gal...............think I'm in love.............*chuckle*

  • grunge died when cobain died

  • This is one very unique yet incredible song , just well done for it 's time .

  • easily a stand out song

  • Great group, great song!

Unfortunately The Ocean Blue was one of several post modern/alternative bands to come out of the late 80's early 90's only have their talents squashed by by that bulls*t called grunge!

Sure, that's my opinion, yes it is...and could care less if I offend anyone or not!!

  • @ryanspeed offend? you should fu..ing be praised for an undeniable truth, this band is one great band, and yes, grunge killed so many things while its major memorable moment, for its followers at least, was the iconizing effect of kurt cobain's death. too sad

  • @melancox Kurt Cobain was nothing but an offbeat oddity to me! I then or now never looked at him as an accomplished musician, just an average guitar power-chord rudimentary Joe Sixpack riff-banger who happened to be at the right place at the right time. David Grohl and the Foo Fighters were OK but Cobain...uh, sorry no cigar!

To those who liked him fine, that's their perogative! Everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess.

  • Thank you , thank you , thank you....

  • Love it and so glad it's back on YouTube. Does anyone know if they ever made a video for " I've Sung One Too Many Songs" or if they tour at all anymore?

  • This song is "total cuteness"!! Very refreshing!! : )

  • My God, what a GORGEOUS song! It still sounds as 'fresh' and relevant today, as it did back when.

  • @CollectorOfMusic

awesome tune...if yo ever wanna chew the music, gimme a ringy dingy

  • could you post the video for"Drifting,Falling"..........

  • Why can't I favorite this song?

  • @parkingtech : you have to click the "Save to" button, right above the Respond box. thats´ where the Favorite option is located...alex

  • What ever happened to them? I had there first four albums and then I don' t know what happened.

  • Very awesome band. They are up there with The Smiths.

  • sigh..

  • Actually emailed the band shortly before Christmas... dont know if its still up but I requested they put "O Holy Night" back up on their My Space page... the lead singer (David) did & I can tell you its a pretty amazing version of the song. He seems disenfranchized by the whole playing thing but he IS an attorney for Artists Rights in Minnesota. If you Google his name, he's quite good at what he's doing BUT, I DO MISS the music! I have been blessed to see TOB 8 times... what a great experience.

  • KROQ early 90's, great song, still sounds fresh.

  • Oh man, so obscure now, but how I loved them when they were on MTV's "120 Minutes" circa 1992. Just makes me think of better times in my life.

  • Que gran tema de esta banda. Buenos recuerdos en los 90

  • I was introduced to them by my husband who watched them in the early 90's at the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington DC. I fell in love with the CD. Great band that should have had a bigger exposure. As a Brazilian, we love Britpop, and they remind me so much of New Order and other 80's-90's bands. Would go to their concert. Hopefully they will come here for the next album. Great vocals by the way.

  • One of the best tunes of the 90's. When bands actually MADE music.. and had some talent. I try hard to listen to my daughters "music" now.. and it's mostly samples of real music back when they actually wrote it, and did sample everything. Is there still an artist out there that has some talent left? I would love to hear your sound.

  • i just listened to their music recently and i thought it was cool. these guys are preaty good

  • My fave song of the 1990's and one of my most fave artists ever. Saw them in 1993 at the Paradise in Boston. The show was superb - it was like going to a symphony, there was no ego, BS, etc - they just performed their music brilliantly the entire time. So pure, simple, yet sophisticated. They're still together with David leading but major personnel changes since they went indy, still waiting on a new album.

  • Wow! good memories, ffs!!!

  • These boys have their shit together. Great Group. Hope for a return.........

  • she has cute feet.
