  • nice sockets, i know the difrence in them but can i use regular sockets with a impact wrench

  • @th19940305 Kragen Auto Parts had this set for $17.38 after tax. That's less expensive than Harbor Freight after tax, and shipping.

I was using regular sockets with the 240 foot pound corded electric impact wrench without any problems. It is possible with an air wrench but there is a chance that the fasteners could damage them.

  • @th19940305 You can use regular sockets on an impact wrench, but this is NOT recommended. Because regular sockets are made of polished chrome vanadium steel and Impact sockets are Hot forged vanadium steel, this is so this can form a hard surface, much harder than a regular socket. Regular sockets are much more thinner than Impact sockets. Impact sockets are Thicker because it provides added strength. And prevents thes sockets from cracking or breaking.
