I feel so bad (and guilty) because I accidentally hit the 'thumbs down' when I was trying to lower the music, which I didn't like. This video is phenomenal and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I apologize for the one 'dislike.' I really do like it.
I feed my tads special tadpole food from pet store and raw or boiled lettuce plust the dead bugs that land in their water. I keep the container outside w/ leaves and rocks so they can hide and high enough so they can crawl out when they're ready otherwise they will drown. Use de-chlorinated water when cleaning tank and replace stuff that was on bottom of old one, use soft net to catch them. Frogs can live up to 15 years - have ones that come back every summer and sit up in my umbrella, cool!
I loved sharing this video with my children when learning about tadpoles on the letter T day. It was a wonderful resource to use when showing them the process from tadpole to frog. The pictures were extraordinary!!! The music was entertaining. My two 4 year old and my two year old watched intently. Thank for you making a useful video for home-schoolers.
I remember I bought this bullfrog tadpole and it had small legs starting to develop and then I put him in a warm pond with no filter, and then he transformed within a month! I think he was just trying to change so quick because his body thought that the pond was gonna evaporate in less than a month.
kwl i got tadpoles 2 they are about ahalf a week old and some are older very interesting cretures one of my fave....by the way awsome song to go with this vid
What a beautiful video, thank you so much for making and uploading this!
I'm thinking of bringing up tadpoles indoors this year like you and then releasing them into the pond once they're little frogs. At least that way they're protected and you can keep an eye on them & get some amazing pictures like you!
Thanks again for this video, it really is beautiful!
i have tadpoles, ive had them for about 2 weeks since spawn and you get really attached to them. I have about 30 tadpoles just now how many do you think will make it to frogs?
Hey nice vid I just have a question: Right now I have 2 newly formed Rana Temporaria froglets (still with a vestigial end of the tail) and since the day they started to grow front legs they stopped eating and will not even try to hunt the fruit flies I put for them... I just wondered if this is normal because of their diet change (from algae to insects) when they start becoming frogs, or if I should worry about it... Do they start to eat once they completely re-absorbed their tails?
Wonderful video! I wish I could give you 5 stars, but "thumbs up!". They look like leopard frogs. I've kept frogs for years but for some reason have never been able to keep a tadpole through transition. I always lose them right as they are coming onto land.
I remeber my little frogs I raised :) How big was the tank you kept your frogs in ? How long did you keep them ? I'm planning on buying my tadpoles this year a 10 gallons to raise them in. They are in a 3 gallon atm. But they are frogs spawn :)
i actually stopped giving them boiled lettuce because im too lazy. i just went to a local pet store and give them tadpole bits. im not sure what kind they are, but they still dont have back legs and ive had them for 2 in a half months.
very endearing to think you cared for them so much and raised them and were proud as such to take so many photos, my 2 year old , 4 year old enjoyed watching thanks
The tank was about a foot long but we had the tads in a smaller one to start with. We started with about 30 tadpoles and 14 survived which isnt bad going i dont think! We still see a few of them now in the pond which is nice! It was a great project and we'll be doing it again next year, hopefully more will make it to the pond :) If you havent done it before, do some research on what to feed them etc and once they start growing legs, take most of the water out. Good luck with it :)
We moved them to our pond not long after this vid was made... we see them quite alot in there and they have grown loads! Not sure if they are related as there was a more than two adult frogs in the pond at the time! Thanks for your comment :)

@Ampheros111 yes but not as a staple, mealworms don't have enough meat on them and are very crunchy, try using crickets or morio worms

Where did you find "blood worms"?
My boyfriend caught me a baby tree frog, although I already had a tree frog from the store, it's much larger then the baby.
I have no idea what to feed him, and I really don't want him to die.
Should I release him back into the wild, or give it a chance?

This song is perfect, because I saved some frog eggs from my pool (which has chemicals) yesterday.
