do you know of any group like this near greenfield mass? i would like to join one i play flute but i play native american flute and there where ntive americans who fought in the civil war :P
he's a spectator, in modern clothes, tangentally affiliated with the drum corps in the video (my nephew, camping nearby the event and visiting for the day)
Original instruments didn't crack like playing on a table top, and they didn't sound anything like a modern tonal bass as they weren't muffled so they had a definite ring to them, and the snares could be said to growl. Muffles on drums only became prevelant after microphones were invented because if you played a bass drum anywhere near an original microphone, you stood a great chance of blowing it out.
HUH?!?! Hey I play the fife and this doesn't make sense to me! I play in the tradition way!(stay in lines! be at attention, etc.)I play in the marquis of Granby! check out our website!
What's to understand, the corps is standing around jamming at a reenactment. I've played with members of your corps before, great bunch, keep up the tradition!
Hey "jamming" at a reenactment is NOT period correct!!!...j/k Im Brit drum Rev War and we get alot of "well that is not period correct" junk. Great Job guys!! I love it!!
why does that slave on the left have a parka on?
I am sorry I had to say it.

Who cares if its period correct or not. I'm not an historian, but I do have a good ear,and this was wonderful. Thank you very much for the enjoyment

Yes,well we're going to test you to see if you can tell the difference between an 1861 drum solo vs., an 1865 drum solo.....Just kidding.

that bass drum needs some work, it's got too much ring to it.
