@miranger The bit didn't bomb at all, it was just very fast-paced and didn't leave a lot of gaps for the audience to laugh. They had to follow along to get all the gags. A lot of Smigel's material often requires you to wait through a few setup jokes before getting to the big payoff. Louis, being a standup, obviously works a whole lot more with beats and timing when he's alone in front of that big brick wall.

Hmmmm. Sandler and Smigel were writers for SNL in 1990. (Sandler was for only a year) Could it be that Smigel wrote this voice into a skit for Sandler?
