I'm not afraid, sir! Vinyl, vinyl, vinyl, lovely heavyweight, static - prone VINYL. My brother and me must have the best part of TEN THOUSAND vinyl records, lovingly collated since 1977-ish - and they still play, unlike some digital media which has been rendered unplayable by a microscopic scratch. Pah! Oh, and a couple of hundred ANALOGUE CASSETTES! I enjoy being a Luddite, ha ha ha!
@brianartillery Wow, this is one of the few true things a man should be proud of in his life! I am really impressed. Make sure you keep your treasure intact for the generations to come:)
Dear blackcorridors: it's a pleasure. My god, I'd forgotten how utterly compelling and exciting this track was. It always amused me that 'Beating The Retreat' was such a beautiful artefact - Matt black box, embossed type, tipped in plate on the front; nice heavyweight vinyl within. Totally at odds with the presumed image of the group. Mine now also contains a cassette of TD live, and a poster advertising the gig I saw - my kid brother broke it out of a bus stop for me - the little scamp!
@brianartillery TEST DEPT on VINYL?? You push it too far, sir. I guess your comment will be flagged as spam in a couple of hours. Such words are prohibited in the youtube world order of ''core'' and ''brootal'' kids. May god bless your soul when they suspect your presence in their premises.
I saw Test Department doing a gig in support of the 1984 Miner's strike. I remember the hall being full of hippyish trendies - who had NO IDEA what TD were like, and who, to a cheesecloth blouse, fled for the door when the gig was started by the band hitting an old lorry front with a sledgehammer. This left the venue to the fans. Such happy days!
@brianartillery Saw them in '85 supporting the miners at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh. My combats were flapping with the power of the amps - a bloody marvellous gig and happy memories. Thanks for sharing. :0)
