I can just see it now. A group of people sitting around a TV watching the spectacle of a seal giving birth to a pup. The women are amazed, the men think, I hope my wife doesn't lose as much blood as that one did, and the Newfie fisherman saying, "I can't wait to kill it in 13 days!"
