  • Tear to my eye, amazing tribute :)

  • Who's Odonna?

  • Great vid, really enjoyed - but no ST I-VI clips?

  • Wow. Just - wow. Breathtaking.

  • I watched the show as a child back in 1966. I haven't been a trekkie for, oh, almost 40 years - but this gives me a bit of a lump in my throat.I'm amazed at the care you take with all the fine little throwaway details for the appreciation of other diehard TOS fans. The beautiful face of Mark Lenard melts into the handsome face of Ricardo M., what a striking image, and it takes all of a couple of seconds - I'd have missed it if I'd blinked.

  • Verry nice! Well done!!

  • Everytime i watch it i tear up amd get goosebumps, the part where mccoy os talking us phenominal!!

  • holy shit, this was amazing I got goosebumps.

  • Almost 2 years later and this video still moves me to tears, SpockBoy. I never get tired of it, always gets this 45yo up when he's feeling down. Thanks again.

  • "Edith Keeler must die..." I think I felt my heart break a little.

  • wow this made me cry a little too!

    Excellent job Paul!

I am also a young Trekkie at only 25 yrs old. I have been watching TOS since I was a baby though and grew up with TOS, Next Generation, and Voyager.

It's was crazy going to theatres seeing the new Trek movie and I went with my partner who is 25 years older than I and has seen each TOS episode about 100 times each and we were both just like "wow." at the end. a new generation indeed.

i am SO glad to see that the old has not died out.

  • This is so.....Fantastic! I am a younger fan but a die hard TOS fan! This video wanted to make me cry and jump around at the same time. It really reminded me of how badass Star Trek really is!! You did an AMAZING job showcasing all of the greatness of TOS. :)

  • Wow! That was some amazing editing!

I am a huge TOS fan. But unlike many I waited to pass judgment on the new Trek until it was released. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It's different, but different doesn't mean it's bad. I think Abrams succeeded in getting many of us to accept these new actors in these iconic roles and brought in some new fans at the same time. Now it's time for them to show us what they really can do and give us a really good story. That will be the proof.

  • Thank you.

  • very cool

  • I like how most of this video is TOS. It really makes me sad that the deep meaning that was in every episode of TOS has been thrown away for some action movie that doesn't do it's original form justice.

  • As with all your stuff, well produced and evocative. But from 1:49 on, man! That captures exactly why I've been watching for more than 35 years. Don't destroy the one named "Trek."

  • When a little reel of Bones goes by at 1:54ish, what episode is that from? I feel guilty that I don't remember, but I don't.

    Can someone remind me please.

  • @StoneKnivesBearskins Okay, about ten minutes after getting off yesterday, I remembered where 1:54 was from. (and no, I didn' cheat by searching for it, I merely remembered.)

I beleived that it is from the episode Arena, but somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • To be quite honest, I'm not sure if you are a bigger fan of the old or of the new.

I for one, although I am a fairly new trekkie/trekker, but I am a diehard original Star Trek fan, as anyone could see if they looked at my channel. : )

    Very interesting vid

  • @StoneKnivesBearskins

I am a huge TOS fan which is why I made this. I felt a bit sad when I realized that from now on when someone mentioned Captain Kirk or Spock they wouldn't necessarily be talking about Shatner or Nimoy anymore. I felt compelled to note this change which is why the ending is a bit sad. Also the film begins AND ends with TOS which will always be my fave. ;)

  • @SpockBoy Well then, let me say that I am happy to make your acquaintance. It's nice to see someone who is definetely a huge TOS fan but is still able to respect the fact that there is a new movie with new actors.

I do, although I must admit it is a grudging respect.

    Thanks for the vid

  • Nice audio edit! :D

  • Awesome Vid man.

  • Superb. Almost brought me the same feelings as Sabatoj's DS9/Enya video.

  • Great video

  • Hello!

This is so amazing, so fantastic! Thanks for this great work, I love your vids. You're a true artist with them!

    Spock

  • I loved this video. Too bad JJ took the torch and proceeded to burn Trek to the ground.

  • Oh, this is *excellent* !

  • GO BACK! GO BACK!! GO BACK!!!

  • EDITH KEELER MUST DIE!

  • great tribute!

  • ;_;

  • A great love letter to T.O.S lol I really get misty .....no lies love it

  • Man, that was an excellent piece of editing work. I think I'll watch it again now...

  • This is GREAT!!... Thank you for bringing it all together in 3 mins!!

  • Don't destroy the one named Kirk.

  • That was astounding.

  • :) Beautiful...

  • Great.

  • and well deserved! This video is too amazing :)

  • That was actually the most beautiful movie on Star Trek ever. It was really well done and somehow touching.

  • Saw this at CJA. AMAZING!

  • What is CJA?

  • CJA = creative junkyard awards, huge vidding competition. Spockboy won best editing & other things last round :)

  • STAR TREK RULES

  • Well said, BondFreek! Jar-Jar Abrams' cinematic abortion will never count as Real Trek.

  • I give it 5 stars for the hard work you put into it. But I give only 1/9 of a star for even considering that the new movie is a real Star Trek. Let alone a good movie at all.

  • really nice collage, it got a nice flow :0)

  • WOW. totally unexpected that this would be so good. Thank you.

  • Very clever I think.. Maybe it's my own personal bias, but "hear" a bit more to the lines "I saw it! Straight out of HELL!" and "Assassins!!"

But... maybe it's just me... ;)

  • Your editing skills are well honed my friend. Great job !!!

  • ... And the Enterprise flies out into the sunset. Great job.

  • I must say the best part of this entire video (which by the way was not easy to pick) is at 1:48 with the enterprise warp/morph. That part was beautifully crafted; did you make a enterprise model by yourself or did you pull that TOS clip from somewhere? all in all excellent job!

  • @crimsonninja6995 that is the new enterprise. i think. but it was close to the original one too so i can't tell.

  • @indyjones0098 at 1:50 there is a small clip of the original enterprise at warp and it is a cgi enterprise. However, i dont recognize the clip from anywhere so i was wondering if spockboy made the entire cg model by himself

  • oh. i see.

  • @crimsonninja6995

Thanks for the compliment but it was Scott Gammans who made that. The Enterprise firing photon torpedoes I did myself with the Master Replicas Enterprise.

  • i loved this alot. save maybe the 2009 clips they dont seem to fit.

  • I think you may have entirely missed the point...

  • or maybe you did. 0:00-1:14 and 1;49-3:01 are very creative and amazingly done. even fan made Enterprise effects, beautiful and moving editing.

but between 1:14-1:49 its just clips from the 09 trailer. and therefore the tone feels a bit out of place, so much work in all the other scenes but very little between those seconds. pity that that part dint get equal attention, lose from if you like that movie or not.

  • No, the tone's fine as is. It's the juxtaposition between these two properties which look COMPLETELY different from each other that makes it so jarring,

  • Fair enough, although this was made before the movie was released, so the trailers were all the footage that existed. Apologies for misinterpreting.

  • Holy shit, kid....how did you put that all together? It looks like it was produced by a studio.

  • A wonderful tribute you made SpckBoy. I love the Star Trek series overall, but I've always had a soft spot for the original series. I also gotta say that at the end, with McCoy's quote and the shot of the Enterprise's original design, coupled with images of the original cast just jerked a tear in my eye. Love the tribute, love your work!

  • This was incredible!!! AMAZING IN FACT!! I couldn't help but love the speech made by Bones cause he is my fav. What episode was that from?

  • Thanks!

The episode was Balance of Terror.

  • That was beautiful.

  • your stuff is always so great. so i kinda when a little crazy with the last coment. Love ya, Spockboy, keep making awsome videos!

  • This has got to be the best tribute video I have ever, ever seen. Bravo!

  • SpockBoy: The date of the new movie's debut (and thus passing the torch) coincided closely with the end of analog television broadcast. Therefore, the vintage TV going dark at the end is even more fitting. Again, bravo!

  • Wow I never realized that....er I mean. that was my intention the whole time! (LOL)

Thanks for giving it more meaning than it originally had!

    : )

  • Did you like the New movie?

  • That's pretty amazing!

  • Awesome. I really like that "Edith Keeler must die" is the last line. Sums up the spirit of the vid, for me. Gonna go watch some TOS now...

  • What episode is that quote from McCoy in? The one about 'only one of each of us'?

  • It's from Balance of Terror, which is one of the BEST episodes I think. : )

  • I concur with your logic, sir. ; )

  • This is seriously good. 5 stars easy, but I thought the typography could have been a little more professional looking.

  • wow, that was very cool. Very well done!

  • Have been watching this over and over! An extremely well done and touching homage to TOS (with more details than I would have even remembered!), as well as an honorable "raising of the glass" to the new Star Trek. Brings tears to this 45 year old Trekkie's eyes. (I especially love the sound effect of the warp drive coming up to speed and crescendo-ing with the new Enterprise letting loose with the phaser barrage!)

  • thanks so much, and thanks to everyone for your kind comments. : )

  • meanie.

  • This is absolutely awesome :´)

  • not gunna lie, i totally started to cry watching this.

i guess its 'cause im only 16 and i have been a TOS fan for a while, but im kinda sad to witness "the passing of the torch" as you say. T_T

this is flippin amazing though. 10/5!

  • Very, very talented piece of movie-making, I wish you well!

    mike

  • Very, very well done! Thank you for making something so awesome! :)

  • It's amazing how different the new ST and TOS are. Even in their similarity.

  • (applause)

Very well done, sir. Kudos to you.

  • makes you want to say Live Long and Prosper to both casts.

  • wow! What a cool Vid, Realy well made, i love it :0)

  • Incredible!!!!!!!!

    Thanks!!

    Christa

  • This was fantastic. I saw the series when I was little and loved it as well as the films. I saw the new movie the day it came out and loved that as well and because of the movie I am now re-watching TOS and love them both even more, so this was a great video for where I am right now. Loved it! Thank you so much for making it!

    Live long and prosper.

  • Wow! That's all I can say. This would have been a great trailler for the new film.

  • Thank you.

  • great!

  • That was really good :D You captured the true essence of Trek.

  • Oh my GOSH that was good!!!!! I mean, what else can I say! You need to do this stuff for money, my friend! *grin*

Thank you very much for posting this on YouTube!

  • Man you are an everloving Star Trek Genius, thank you soooo much for this, too beautiful for words

  • Excellent work!

  • Star Trek shall forever...

    "Live long and prosper"

  • Beautifully done!

  • A fantastic, creative work that shows, at the same time, the best of the past and a glimpse of the future. As a fan-made mashup this is easily the best I've seen all year!

  • Wow, too good for youtube... somebody hire this guy

  • That was EPIC! Masterfully done. If you aren't in the business you should be. BRAVO!

  • i have to say i totally agree with what everyone has said so far so man i really have nothing else to tell you except that it was intertaining.

  • WONDERFUL! Great Job, Outstanding My Friend!

  • 1:52

    amen

how could it ever be conceived that we are the only intelligent life in the universe?

i would say, only if intelligence does *not* want to interact with us/earth, until some time!

    well done btw

  • Totally awesome..i salute all involved.

  • Wow. that was VERY well done. Great choices.

  • Fucking brilliant. A+++

  • Fantastic, insightful, complex, layered, well done!

  • VERY well done. If there were a Tribute Video Hall of Fame this would surely be a member.

  • This deserves a page in the history of Trek, imho. Well done!

  • Wonderful. Wonderful on so many levels...

  • Nothing short of brilliant. It gave me shivers.

  • Absolutely amazing video! Well done sir!

  • This is wonderful video.

Does anyone know where I can find the instrumental version of this song? I can only find the version with the lyrics.

  • holy crap! that was excellent! I hope the new movie is at least half as enjoyable.

  • Great idea and work this video :D

    Thanks!!!!

I love StarTrek!! I'm trekker forever!!!!

  • Fantastic! Very well-done. Your love and knowledge of Star Trek shines through.

  • Awesome XD

  • Well done! You have brought honor to TOS!!!

  • wow that was just amazing well done!

i look forward to other stuff :)

  • Your video clip is absolutely fantastic. Great editing work!

  • WoW! I just have to comment on what a great piece of work this video is. I am a complete ST-TOS purist and therefore I have had nothing but negative things to say about what I have seen of STXI. This well made video makes me hope that Abrams has as much sense of the magnitude/significance of the torch passing as this video maker has. This is so much better than any of the STXI previews as it honors and respects ST-TOS and hints of the continuity that a new generation of Star Trek could provide.

  • Great video! Quite excellently done -- I appreciated every moment and effect. All the TOS stuff is in itself a beautiful tribute. Thanks for making this.

  • Love it!!! its a very cool video. Apart from the appearance of old Spock in the new film I wonder how many references to TOS there will be in the new film. I hope they don't totally throw it all out the window while passing the torch!

  • This is good. I've watched it like 20 times lol xD

  • Super awsome video!

I couldn't begin to guess at how you did all this editing but this is way quality!

    I really enjoy your stuff!

  • IZUGARRIA!!!

    Benetan ederra.

    Eta a zer nolako muska.

  • That was just amazing. Thank you.

  • Wow. Fantastic editing!

  • This is an outstanding video! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. Awesome. ^_^

  • Well in order for Star Trek to survive in a new generation I suppose the torch would have to be passed. At least we always have the future's past to watch whenever we wish to, and I have a feeling that this new film will be equally impressive. Great job.

  • Terrific! Definitely on my favorites.

P.S. Thanks for using the original Tholian ship models and not the remastered ones. :D

  • Again, really very good. Nice work. I love the Trek babe gallery - separating arguably the three finest from an already great lineup - Barbara Luna, Sherry Jackson and Nancy Kovak. My tastes too. I also like the fact that Gary Seven makes an appearance. I'm jazzed that somebody recognizes him as a noteworthy presence...as well as Captain Ronald Tracy.

  • This is pretty badass. It actually brought a few tears to my eyes.

  • Damn, that was amazing! Superb editing skills there, mate! Very high quality imagery there.

  • Terrific

  • To quote Peter Griffin:

    "That was AWSOME!!!"

  • Fantastic video. Nothing more I can say, extremely well done

  • Simply WON-DER-FUL!

    Congratulations.

  • This is superb! A labor of love. Thanks.

  • just perfect ...

  • WOW my friend

  • Spockboy. Thank you for the video. Really enjoy it.

  • Spockboy, this is an absolutely beautiful video. A loving tribute to the original series and an exciting peek at what's to come.

Superb work, my friend, as always.

  • the new movie is only a shadow of the greatness of that which was before. A bad imitation. Everything about is seems boring, wrong, and is not star trek.

  • Atleast special effects look superb...

  • wonderful...can't wait! live long and prosper.

  • Brilliant work, Paul. Makes this 43 year old tear up!

  • Very nice tribute to TOS and to the upcoming movie. I am looking forward to seeing the new film.

  • Loved it. Great job.

  • Much work went into that, obviously. Nice job.

  • WOW!!! That video was...amazing!!! I can't wait for May 8th!!!

  • that was a great vid :)))

  • Just fantastic, really made me well up.. superb! If Paramount had any sense, they would sign that up as a trailer!

  • outstanding tribute to the greatest star trek series ever. awesome. thanks

    atvmidlands uk

  • Amazing

  • Fantastic!

  • Without question, one of the best 3 or 4 TREK related video pieces I've ever seen. Beautifully made, very cool, unsentimental but heartfelt.

  • WOW! That is the best TOS tribute vid I have ever seen!

  • Beautiful as always, Paul. :)

  • That was the finest fan-tribute I've ever seen. Live long and prosper.

  • Great job! Wow!

  • Outstanding. 5 stars!

  • Wow, this is another amazing effort! Well done!
