Canas was exhausted, he found his way through the finals from the qualifications, then he defeated Henman, Gasquet, Ferrero, Federer, Robredo and Ljubicic (wow!) before losing to Djokovic in straight sets, in the final. Canas couldn't stand it, he just couldn't do more than he did!

What a way! More than Djokovic (who defeated Nadal in the quaterfinals), he's the one to be congratulated for his performance.

they recently changed it (about 2 years ago), but before, all masters finals were five sets. this change was because nadal and federer withdrew from hamburg after a grueling five set clay court final.this makes the grand slams and tennis masters cup and davis cup special. a pity.

Yesss I might have to agree. These best of three setters are so often decided by such a slight margin and often in tiebreaks, which is perhaps some of the reason why two big ass servers like Roddick and Ljubicic final-ed in Indian Wells. And Federer and Nadal lose in tiebreaks when probably in 5-ers would've both advanced.

Sorry, I cannot tell you why, because, I do not understand ATP Politics, like why they are demoting Master Series Hamburg (Clay) and Monte Carlo (Clay). However, I will say, I do much prefer the best of 5 set (instead of best of 3 set) Master Series Finals! It is too bad the ATP Politics, has done away with it! They have made tennis worse, in my opinion!

I think the changed the master´s series final´s from 5 to regular 3 sets, to preserve the player´s from exhaustion, so they don´t get to the slam´s drained and leave 5 set´s exclusively to slam´s, maybe that´s the reason why, honestly im not sure..

they changed it after Rome 2006 final, Nadal and Federer were scheduled to play at Hamburg but due to physical exhaustion they withdrew, Miami final was the last one to be decided in best of 5 sets, as you remember Nadal defeated Fed in Monte Carlo and Gonzalez in Rome in best of 3 in 2007; I liked Hamburg i dunno why they changed to ATP 500 (they filled the gap with Shaghai), Monte Carlo is still Masters Series Event it hasn't been demoted, it's only lost its mandatory status
