  • It looks really good I plan on trying the style on my daughter

  • Thank you so much for all of your videos, I did this style on my daughters hair last night and it came out wonderful....she loved it...I love the way you teach step by step...can't wait to try all the styles you show...Please keep teaching us such wonderful hair styles.

  • I love how you are thorough with teaching different designs on little girls hair. I have done these hairstyles on my daughter and it was really easy. Thank you very much. And my daughter's hair is natural and it is growing

  • Very cute. This veil style is one of our favorites in cheerleading and u taught me a new way on how to do it. Thanks!

  • I love that texture of hair because its so easy to grip and braid

  • Just wondering if you have any suggestions for me My Daughter is mixed but has normal straight soft hair how can i do this and keep her ends in its so fine it falls out.

  • Your daughter is really cute, with lovely hair, and you certainly know what you are doing.

Thanks for your informative videos, they are very precise and useful.

  • Your daughter's hair texture is so beautiful...reminds me a lot of my daughter's hair. I really appreciate you for taking the time to do such great videos.

  • I love this style I need to do this on my daughter,ur daughters are so patient when you do their hair I always have to fuss with my daughter about her hair ugh ...?mY DAUGHTER IS MIXED WHAT HAIR PRODUCTS DO YOU REC HER HAIR IS THICK,CURLY AND GET DRY AND TANGLES EASILY DO ur girls sleep in a stocking cap?

  • wow wow n tripple wow

  • I will try this style today, its really cute.

  • @ Msnickalasha Sorry to hear abt yr daughter. Simply shampoo and use deep reconstructuring conditioner everytime u wash the hair. I don't know how old child is but a leave in conditioner can help also. Afterwards use a good hairdresser to braid the hair. You will see a difference.

  • you are a great mom

  • wow your braids are really small. !

  • I was just reading the comment below and couldnt see what the fuss was about . You are using white rubberbands not black. But after watching you with my daughter i am insired to really try more styles . She is so excited and say mommy she can do it so can you. This is my first daughter i have 2 older boys so i am a mess in her head. Thanks and keep up your very bautiful work. You have blessed us with your techniques and hair care also.

  • @lindsey167 their hair is already good looking ;)

  • I have made the TERRIBLE mistake of putting a relaxer in my daugher's hair and now its breaking and very damaged. If you (Kate) or any one else know what I can do to repair her hair and get it back to natural PLEASE let me know. Oh and girl you are awsome! You do styles Ive never seen before.

  • @msnickalasha - I wish I could be of some help, but this is an area that I don't know anything about. The only thing I can recommend is following the things that I do in my hair routine video. It has really helped my girls to have strong healthy hair, but I am not sure if you need to do some other things to reverse the damage that may have been done to your daughters hair.

  • @msnickalasha I know I'm a little late, but sorry to tell you your going to have to let her hair grow out and then cut off her relaxed ends. For right now you need to do what you can to keep it healthy.

  • @msnickalasha well i h8 2 tel u that the onlty thng u can do is cut her hair & even it out & let it grow bak out dr. miracles hot gro grease wrks gr8 @ growing ur hair & if her hair is broken off @ the edges` then u can use their temple & nape balm

  • @msnickalasha - Reconstructor for damage and breakage(it rebuilds the protein). Moisturizing conditioner after that to maintain moisture and softness. Twice a week while her hair's growing out. Once a week after it grows out and you cut off the damage. It's good prevention for damage.

Oh and a good oil or butter that agrees with her hair and skin while it's still wet from shampooing. That will depend on your daughter's hair and skin. Grapeseed oil's amazing but some swear by coconut.

  • @msnickalasha if you do three strand braids & twists the texture will come back fast use products like LIV (sally beauty supply) and PCJ hairdress. don't use RUBBERBANDS AT ALL! It'll make it way worst, use scrunchies and trim every 4-6 weeks. Use a moisturing shampoo like PCJ or Just for me and conditioner, with the conditioner leave in her hair for about 10-15min with a cap on her head while she takes it bath. I only wash my daughters hair once a week. The deep conditioning will really help.

  • @msnickalasha - I am a licensed cosmo, I would advise you to do a protein/moisture deep conditioning and oil treatment under a hooded dryer for 15 -20 minutes once a week. You cannot reverse the damage done by the relaxer but you can preserve the hair she still has. Do NOT relax anymore. Be diligent about this and you'll see a very big difference, and her hair will respond wonderfully.

  • @msnickalasha the key to keeping ur child hair from breaking after using a relaxer is keeping it oiled.if u want here hair go back natural dont put a relaxer in it anymore ...keep doing her hair and let it go some n then take her to get the permed tip cut off.

  • thnx for sharing you are verry good.....im the same as you ..i love to do my daughters hair....and find it inspiring to see what other moms are doing. btw..you use coconut oil and what else?

  • is thatt yourr childd

  • I like how you do your girls' hair. I will definitely use these styles on my 4 year old daughter..

  • that is so precious!!!

  • Kate I commend you for everything that you are doing.I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge and creativity with your daughters hair. My daughter and I just want to thank you for sharing your routines and regemins with us. You have touched and inspired us.....

  • [4] Lady I salute you and very proud as well for you. Thanks for your contribution and tuts. Should I be blessed with a grand daughter I am hoping to be as skillful as you. Many blessing to you and your wonderful family. UR simply beautifulllllllll!!!

  • [3] Now as a her mature woman soon to be a grandmother, only in January I have decided to revert to the care once taught to me by own dearest mom who is now deceased and I continue to remember and grieve yet for.

  • [2] I reflect upon the years that my hair was its richest, healthiest and at its best - that was when she cared for it. Sadly to say instead of up keeping that pride I venture into the world of hot combs, relaxers and texturizers against her better judgment of course.

  • [1] I was delighted to come across your channel when looking 4 another youtuber. You truly have blessed my heart and stirred great emotions within me while watfching your care, love and devotion. Like your black daugthers I too was adopted, but by a black mom though :), but I could not have had a better mom. I felt like I actually came from her own womb.

  • Thanks a lot for this post! I've been wondering how to do this hairstyle. Can't wait to try it.

  • you are a very good and attentive mommy GOD bless you for opening your heart and your home to this baby and she seems so comfortable with you , it shows that you love her and your voice and spirit are gentle im glad there are people like you still left in the world.

Thank you from one mama to another

  • watching this video makes me think about the day i can have my own daughter i will save these i might need them one day :)

  • Beautiful!!!! Love your work!

  • I like that. Very nice!! I am not too good at the flat twist yet. I am gonna try this on the front of my transitioning hair and see how it works. My guess is that it will look great!! With Black hair you have soooo many options.

  • i love you :)

    u are so creative

u gave me an idea to do my friends hair for diversity day :D

    thanks

  • nice job?Is the little girl you do the braids on your sister?I find it strange how u can split the hair on her scalp like tht.i hate seeing scalps i don't know why.LOL!

  • Not sister I mean daughter srry!

  • That is beautiful where do you get your design ideas i will try to do that on my daughter her hair is not that long though so hard to do alot of stuff with her and the braiding is hard on short hair especially since i cant braid a lick but i will try it thanks for videos keep it up

  • you are a life saver!! i have 2 bi-racial daughters ages 5 and 6. i never really knew how to do anything and everyone i asked to teach me did it way too fast for me to catch on. their hair is almost to the middle of their backs and now i have more options than just pony or pig tails. you, my dear, are awesome

  • @kasey37886 also to manage there hair ezer try the instyler it works wonders

  • Thanks for this. I am so glad to see that you know what you are doing. I have a side business where I live doing hair for parents who adopt black children or for parents who have bi-racial children. None of them want to learn how to do it themselves though!

  • i have twin daughters who are 6. their hair is long. my mom taught me how 2 grow it and this is a no no.

  • I don't do styles like this very often. I try to really limit using rubber bands as much as possible. But it is ok to do occasionally. I have been doing my daughters hair for 4 years and it is beautiful, long and healthy.

  • bitch shut up her childs hair look very healthy so im sure she kno how to take care of her daughter hair...only usin rubberbands like every single day could break off your hair nd thats only if you dnt put on careful enough

  • I agree that the way that she's styled it is pulling too much from the sides & you can tell by the beading of the hair on the edges that it will break. Smaller parts & spare use of rubberbands is the solution. Before you call me a female dog...I've been doing natural hair (from cornrows, single braids, fishtails, Goddess braids, hair locking, etc., with or without extensions to since I was a few years older than the little girl in the video whose hair is being braided...Yes, I'm an expert.

  • ok so ppl cnt wear there hair in ponytails no more cuz it'll break of there edges??? i mean her dnt look permed or anything she cud jus have sum nappy ass edges rite now like mines are rite now....N I HAVE VERY HEALTY HAIR THANKS TO MY HAIR STYLIST I WNT TO I ALWAYS GOT LIL TWIST IN MY HAIR N HAVE TO USE RUBBER BANDS BUT BCUZ SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOIN I STILL I HEATLTY ASS HAIR DWN MY BACK

  • so like i said HER CHILDS HER LOOKS HEALTY N SHE ALREADY SAID SHE DNT DO THE STYLES OFTEN WIT THE RUBBERBANDS....YOUR PROFESSIONAL N EVERY STYLE YOU DO CAN BREAK UR HAIR OFF....IF U DNT KNO WUT YOUR DOIN!!!!! WHICH IS MY POINT SHE KNO WUT SHE DOIN WHIICH IS WHY HER CHILD HAIR LOOKS FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF U CAN COMPREHEND THAT!!!!! N NO ONE CARE CUZ U DO HAIR IN YO KITCHEN NOW U THINK UR A PROFESSIONAL

  • B)

however, like you stated (in a very disrespectful manner, btw) it's only if you do it too much. I also ADDED my PROFESSIONAL observation that the lady should use smaller parts on her daughter's head because it appeared to show signs of breakage around the edges. Additionally, I knew that the majority of the ppl watching this vid will more than likely be non-African parents with African children who are learning about African hair(styles) and who NEED TO KNOW this one of MANY important

  • C) details about African hair care.

  • this is y black people dont have hair. cuz of stupidity like this. it doesnt matter if ur child is born baldheaded. black people can grow long hair if they take care of it right. that means NO BLACK RUBBERBANDS. im not a professional but i do have long hair and so do all three of my girls. for u to get so mad over a debate, we all know u dont have class.

  • @antoinettecj I use black rubber bands about 4 times per month on my 3yr old. Been doing it for about 2 yrs now. Her hair dosen't break off and it's very healthy. When I do use rubberbands I don't keep them in her hair longer than 2 days. Her hair is a lil past her butt and still growing. My mother did the same with my hair and it's mid back. So rubber bands are ok u just need to learn how to put them in and take them out properly. We are also BLACK.

  • A)

"ok so ppl cnt wear there hair in ponytails no more cuz it'll break of there edges???"

Nope, that's not what I said, AT ALL. As a matter of FACT(respectfully), I stated:

"Smaller parts & spare use of rubberbands is the SOLUTION."

The ONLY reason that I even posted a response to you (TiaCo08) & AntionetteCJ was intended to be a small effort on my behalf to bring clarity to what you both appeared to be arguing about. The use of rubberbands is a valid concern as ACJ pointed out...

  • most people dont do hairstyles like this and take it down the same night...duh!!!!!!!

  • @antoinettecj FIRST OFF WTF???? I HAD TO SEE WHAT DA HELL I WROTE CUZ DE SHIT OLLLLDDDDDD LOL I REPLIED 9MONTHS AGO....U MUST BE BORED.....N I DNT THINK U KNO MOST PPL SO U CANT SAY WHAT "MOST" PPL DO BUT I KNO PEOPLE WHO HAD DONE THEIR KIDS HHAIR LIKE AND LEAVE IT IN FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS +....SOOO UM YEA..N DIS SHIT IS OLD SO IF U WANT TO REPLY GO HEAD N TLK TO YASELF CUZ IM NOT READIN IT SWEETIE

  • @TiaCo08 I agree...rubber bands does not effect your child hair IF you put them on correctly. I use them on my daughter once per week and my daughter's hair is to her ass, literally and she's only 3yrs old. People just don't know how to take care of there children's hair.

  • You are so creative. I'm going to TRY and duplicate some your styles. Thank you for sharing your videos with all of us!

  • Is her hair completely dry when u are doing the styling or a little damp?

  • I usually put coconut oil in their hair after a wash. Then I spray it every day with a mixture of oil and water.

  • Hi Mrs. Katelynylyn,

After you wash and condition your daugthers hair what type of hair products do you use on their hair in order to keep it looking silk and healthy?

  • omg, i love it! Especially the white. I think it would fit perfectly for a wedding or festive occansions or even for going to church!

  • Damn girl you are good. I'm so happy you learned how to do that adorable girl's head. Ur better than me. And I'm black....lol.

  • I really do enjoy watching your videos. You have given me sooo many ideas to try on my own little girl's head. Please do keep the vids coming.

  • I love how you style hair. You are very talented and very detailed, it's as if you grew up with the same textured hair as your daughter. Keep up the great work ; D

  • That little girl has a strong head i would be crying so mcuh i always would ge my hair done but ouch like every week haha i would cut my hair for my mom would not do that

  • I think you did a very good job!! I have a biracial daughter and I can do the straight back cornrows. But I have wondered how to do that. Thanks for your help. Keep up the good work.

  • I like the hairdo! But to see u using a small comb in her head scares the hell out of me! lol

  • that is so cool.... i wish my daughter would let her hair stay in long enough to let me do her hair like that....

  • You are really good at what you do. I have 3 biracial daughters who I always have to pay to get there hair done. NOT ANYMORE! I keep watching you and practicing on them. It comes out pretty good. How long did it take you to learn all of this? Thanks for posting them.

  • i watch all your videos and have tried some things that you do. my stepdaughter is younger than your daught and dosen't have as much hair so some i can't do. my question is where did you learn how to do it all? i have trouble inventing styles so she gets alot of the same things. where do you get your ideas?

  • Your daughter is so patient and well-behaved.

  • Damn ... ur very talented. Who is the little girl ... I've been wondering

  • its her daughter

  • very beautiful job momma thanks for sharing

  • Beautiful! Thanks for posting!

  • I do the same thing with my daughter's hair: she's 14 mths.

  • Simply gorgeous

  • Those look so cute on her.

  • great style i have to try it, great job!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You are amazing! I could cry! I have a 10 year old and she cries all the time because of being teased about her hair. I cant seem to find anyone that will do her hair for more then a couple times due to whatever reason. I now know that there is so much I can do with the braiding I myself already know how to do. Thank you so much you are such a blessing and so are the girls! God bless!

  • where did you learn to do all these styles? great job!

  • WOW tha looks wicked

    ima tri it

  • wow u did a gr8 job..

  • This makes it so simple it's so cute i'm going to do my daughter's hair tomorrow like this.

  • That is sooooooooooooo cute!

  • When i watch your video doing the veil style i thought to myself that is very cute and i wondering how did you learn to braid and cornrows and it a take long time for you to get as good as you are now THANKS YOU DO A GREAT JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

  • I must admit that I am shocked. Fabulous job Katelynlyn. Their hair looks so lovely. You've really done your homework on how to take care of course textured hair. Kudos to you! =D

  • Man that little girl is tough as nails. I am a wimp when it comes to getting tight braids.

  • this has to be one of the cutest designs for a little girls hair. Im definately going to do this on my little girl, But im wondering if there are any all natural products I can use while doing this style to keep her hair moisturized.

  • Try Qhemet Biologics Amla & Olive Oil Heavy Cream and Qhemet Biologics Olive Cream Conditioning Instant Detangler.

  • katelynlyn this is a great hairstyle put i still dont know how to do corn rows i get confuse but this style is really fun and easy but the corn rows are confusing so please help me

  • its like plaiting hair but you pull the hair from the scalp.

  • Im guessing that they are adopted?? It doesnt really matter either way, these girls are truly blessed to have such a loving and dedicated mother!!! Props to you because you obviously spent a lot of time researching and learning how to do their hair!!!

  • very cute n creative :)

  • can this be done for boys too will it look right on boys?

  • Katelynn, thanks for showing these vids. I tried this veil style on my daughter's hair and it turned out really good.

  • Beautiful!!! Thanks I'll be trying this on my daughters hair.

  • I love the creativity!!! You've got mad skillz!

  • You have cute styles. Thanks for the tut's

  • Katelynlyn,

Did you teach yourself, copy other styles, use a book, research on the internet?

Obviously your skill comes from practice, but I was wondering where you got the design ideas/styles from. I was hoping there was a book you could point me to?

  • The love and dedication you show to your daughter and her hair is to be commended. What a graet role model you are for her.

  • Thank you

  • I have to say that your vids are the best I have seen on here for doing AA hair. And I have looked. Thanks. By the way what is the hair product you use?

  • I use Jamaican Mango and Lime products. Both the spray and the gel.

  • That is way too cute! You've got mad skills! Thanks so much for these videos. Keep them coming!

  • I was wondering, since the little girl's hair shows a lot of texture, is her hair blown out before you do these styles, natural or permed?

regardless, it's very pretty! i love these videos. thanks for posting them.

  • My daughter that is in this video actually has far less kinky, coarse hair than my other daughter who is in some of my other videos. I have never done any kind of relaxers on them or blown them dry or used a flat iron.

After washing I often put their hair into several large braids overnight to dry. Then when I go to do the cornrows, I take out the braids and the hair is somewhat relaxed.

    Your welcome :)

  • I hope you never relax their hair...it looks beautiful the way it is

  • Yeah, I hope you never relax it either. There are good natural products you can use on it to keep it soft. Like washing it with baking soda and vinigar. I've even used honey and plain yogurt for conditioner...it smells yummy and it leaves it so soft.

  • I like the way you did her hair now do you know how to braid different names in the hair? If so how to do it step by step.

  • Can you make a video on the products you use on the hair ?

  • These braids are really beautiful...the must hold for a long time, too, I bet. Great work, thank you!

  • Waaay cute.

  • Great job...

  • i want to commend you for the obvious care and pride you take in doing your daughters' hair.

  • Another great video, Katie!

  • Thank you for the products I will try them out cute style.

  • I don't usually use shampoo to wash my girls hair - just conditioner. Right now I am using SunSilk conditioner. I use M.O.M. lotion after washing (by African Royale). And then I use Jamaican Mango and Lime gel to put in my style and I use their braid spray for daily moisturizing.

  • Your work is really good and I commend you for doing these videos but I'm curious to know what products you're using on her hair e.i. shampoo, conditioner, moisterizer, etc...
