  • Thats MUSIC !!!

  • After listening to Max Roach Young Ian Pace sounds like high school retard :D

  • Just Great!!

  • 9 justin's fans

  • @d3moson3 A lot of people are really getting tired of these Justin Bieber comments on classic rock videos. In fact, one person is deleting all those comments. It would be nicer if one just talks about the song or how they came about discovering older music. There's far more lame music today than just Justin Bieber, and he's young and could still change. Don't forget a lot of these classic rock musicians played in earlier bands doing pop music or simply covering music b4 them: rockabilly, etc.

  • We will never see a drummer like Ian Paice again....never....

  • YES! 7:03 Ian's using a cowbell! Give me more Cowbell!

  • Qué lástima que esté cortado el solo de batería!

It´s a shame the solo was cut!

  • watch?v=wBEHx_2Pe2I

  • People in the 60s had fkin great ideas... like this concept. We won't see anything this epic nowadays... God bless our past, and let our future become more like it. Amen.

  • @titoine1212 But Deep Purple did use a back-up orchestra on their last tour 2011. Granted, it wasn't intense like this because the orchestra wasn't prominently feature as with here. I'm thinking they were one of the earliest rock bands, rock like theirs, to do this. Yeah, and Ian is an excellent drummer and Ritchie Blackmore a guitarist. This rocks!

  • Mozart Would Have Liked This.

  • richie looks better with the es-150... :D

  • Vivid

  • Ian Paice looks like Joey Ramone, all due respect for both of them.

  • 1:51 to 2:05 ....

  • 21st century minstrel

  • drum solo was shamefully cut

  • @5targazer Agreed. The best stuff was removed.

  • reminds me of ELP at parts...they are both great rock and roll bands that not too many people in my generation know of....kinda sad.

  • Just Legends!!

  • Metallica S&M rip off. Still dec though

  • @MikeLamb24 Woa boy, you shouldn't expose your ignorance this way. This piece is from 1969 NINETEENSIXTYNINE... Lars Ulrich was 6 years old then and probably played recorder in kindergarden. IF anyone is ripping something it is Metalica that is ripping DP. Beside Lars Ulrich is not even HALF as gifted as Ian Paice, and never will be.

  • Funny... he couldn't find anyone shittier than Metalica's drummer, never seen anyone plays as shit as Lars yet people think of him as a star... some bastads are so lucky!

  • @GulfoPersico lars is now old and lazy, but a few years ago he had a good style and some originality in him

  • @MikeLamb24 LOL!

  • lol he sucks and hes a rock drummer???

  • @straycats59 How's tips been lately, you fuckin' bathroom attendant.

  • Awsome!!

  • 4:48 FOREST GUMP!!

  • More Cowbell :-)

  • bastards!

there's a HUGE chunk of the drum solo thats been cut out here!! grr!!

  • can anyone tell me about this concert, where it was filmed?

  • @drummermizike

    london royal albert hall 1969.

deep purple as they are were the support act - these tracks can be found on the 'powerhouse' album.

  • @drummermizike The Royal Albert Hall, 1969

  • 4:14 Ashton Kutcher!!)))

  • You can tell during the solo that Ian was a fan of Buddy Rich!

  • WOW!

  • that black guy at 3:39 was also in hyde park at the stones :} [honky tonk woman}

  • @eddiemperor: you're quite right about that mate: good insight there. It still amuses me though, but in a good way. I would never denigrate the quality of all the musicians in this clip.

  • In the name of God, keep classical and rock separate.

  • @festilina That's Impossible, Classical is one Huge Influence On Rock And Roll is like Jazz, Blues, and Classical had a Baby :)

  • @festilina Why bother watching it? To sound like a douche? Well hey, it worked...

  • ian pace good!!!!!

  • Holy shit 1:04 Paince comes in sounds like King Kong

  • @Mikespyke he looks like king kong too!

  • hahahaha, yea sort of LOL

  • And he hits drums like a 10yo girl.

  • I don't see what's all the fuss about Ian Paice is. All I hear from him is some basic drumming with some jazz ornaments. Bill Ward is a much more revolutionary and influential drummer.

  • @maksphoto78 dude listen to pictures of home. amazing drum work. the last 35 seconds of that song is all improv. listen to that song with headphones.

  • ian is an ace with paice

  • Something was cut from the drum solo wasn't it?

  • 7:44 AHHH YOU MORTAL!

  • To bylo super przezycie niestety okrojone.Jestem w posiadaniu oryginalu na analogu i jest o wiele lepsze.Ale dzieki ze moglem to zobaczyc.Zbigniew

  • Some of the solo has been edited out on the video....be sure to check out the whole solo on the actual recording.....Great!!!!!

  • Funny seeing Ritchie without the Strat.

  • increibleeeeeeeeeeee

  • sound a lot like Jethro Tull

  • lol 3:40 drugs

  • @cooliovasquez lol....4:05-4:15 is all drugs too.

  • An awesome piece of work. Thanks for posting it.

  • Cool! Very thanks for posting!

  • Just fuckin' amazing!! The marriage of two worlds of music!! Incredible for it's time! So many bands have done it since!!

  • this video made me wonder: did Ian had this natural black hair in younger days or did he colour them?

  • amazing

  • Great ...as usual

  • Position for position Purple smoke Dream theater like a fuckeeeeeen bbq.

  • My Favorite Album of all time, from my favorite band of all time. This Was Real Music, it is a tragic story were music stands today and i'm only 19 years old.

  • I agree and I'm 15. Deep Purple is genius. Mayday Parade and Fall Out Boy and all this shit. How can someone call that music?

  • Very sadly I don't know if my following statement is true because there is Bands and Artists who still keep Real Music Alive (Alot of Metal bands, blues&jazz musicians, and classical musicains) but sometimes I think Music is Dead because all these styles have passed and all the musicians i just play what has been wich is great) I play in a band also and if Music is dead then we real musicians need to give it a Great Requiem it deserves.

  • You know what I mean man, main stream is failure... (most)

  • im with you there

  • wow McSweet22 those bands still use music theory how can people rap and rnb music shitty rappers making millions just because they say bitch nigga and fuck

  • You know what I mean. And really, they don't use theory. R&B can can be musically inclined. John Legend?

  • @McSweet22 It's all music. But not all music is great... bet yeah, Deep Purple are genious :o

  • @McSweet22 Because in these days, young people are very ignorant. They don't know anything......

  • @McSweet22 everyone have a different kind of mindset in different type of genre..but i agree with you100%..this is what you call a genius of music..:)

  • Paicey is brill, he make it all so simple, which its not!.

As he is quoted solos's are all light and shade.

  • ART!!!

  • What he can do with such a small kit. Just been watching dave lombardo. his kit's twice the size and he doesn't reach this speed and power.

  • Is that Nick Simpa?

  • Nope. Very young Glover :-)

  • i dont understand his hand technique throughout that solo...0_0

  • he had the same technique like cymbalist:):), but the effect is so amazing:)

  • yeah but look at his right hand! its like hes just pinching the stick.

  • ian paice is such an great talent!!! i love the way he plays, it is amazing!!!! so powerfull!!!

  • This concert was a labor of love for Jon. Richie didn't like the idea but made an exception for Jon.

  • Were they trying to get Roger Glover to look like the previous bass player?...That helmet hair was just a BAD look

  • Their original bassist was Nick Simper. Roger does have the same hair. DEFINATELY A BAD LOOK.

    LONG LIVE THE PURPLE!

    MK2

  • I hate that they cut out a pretty long part of Ian's solo. At the end of the solo, right before he plays the triplets on the cowbell (at 7:02); if you listen you can hear where it cuts.

  • la cagaaaaa los masturboys los romperan

  • who

  • This was a really important project. Too bad the world of music is devolving. One would think a hard rock band answering a symphony would be the beginning of modern music going to the next level. Atleast it was Deep Purple that did this right!! Spurious who cares if you don't like Keith Moon ! You could never ever be as successful as him! You are just a negative comment.

  • Ian Paice reminds me the Ramones

  • Gillan looks like "I'm bored!".

  • where is he?

  • Pause at 2:57 and look at between Ritchie and Roger.

  • @Eldryzif ??? Who?

  • cazzo che musicisti!!! io credo che per fare certe cose, ci devi essere proprio nato.

  • Exellent souond track!!!

  • I met him 4 years ago in Italy in a drum clinic, his story is absolutely fantastic ... the best drummer in the world !

he has style , tecnique , power , inventive and something special!

  • Paice is awsome!! and Lord is a wonderful composer!!!

  • Paice is the best!

  • wow.. ian paice... first time ive ever heard him solo.. convinced me of how overlooked he is..... i mean hes amazing.. but you only see people listening to bonzo or moon (who are both amazing as well) but this guy seriousely should be up there

  • Keith Moon was a terrible drummer.

  • keith was not terrible..are you gone???..just a very different way of playing..but it worked for the Who..just listen to We wont get fooled again..how can you say that is terrible??..it is an amazing drum track along with many others..the whole Quatrophinia album..if thats how you spell it has outstanding drums

  • nope sorry, IMO he sucked.

  • Ian Paice iba a su bola en éste disco,qué grande!!.

  • This dude is definitely the best F$%#$^ing drummer out there. Deep Purple would just be an otherwise average band without him. F%^$%#$*&ING AWSOME!!!!!!!

  • ian paice de los mejore baterias del mundo es el puto amo....de las baguetas que manera de tocar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It´s not Clapton, it is Paice who is GOD !!!

  • Ah! Godo al ritmo dei Deep.

  • Anyone know what the song is called that he plays at 1:50 ? or from what movie or if its even something that he just made up himself

  • Ian Paice god this feeling great ..forty years ago!

  • ..geniali!!!!!!!...

  • well, the way i see it is that there are 3 very popular early-metal bands (aka proto-metal)

    Deep Purple

    Led Zeppelin

    Black Sabbath

I, personally, don't really like sabbath

and zeppelin and purple really are very different groups with their own tone.

But this orchestral rock is awesome!

  • khm... deep purple and led zeppelin not metal

  • They were two pioneers in the formation of metal. They're fundamental to the transition between rock and metal, and so they have their place in both.

  • no cuz todays metal is crap and they played real music fusion between rock, blues, jazz and classic. The so called metal bands are lame and are nothing compared to Purple, Zeppelin and the other bands from that time.

  • Which is why they were fundamental.

  • zeppelin and purple along with sabbath played a type of heavy rock that later adapted into heavy metal. without those three bands there would be no heavy metal PERIOD

  • eric clapton, ginger baker & jack bruce owns, cream influenced VERY MUCH each 1 you mentioned before,in therms of technique, guitar prowess,voice,drums...ian was impressed by jacks exelent loud vocals & powerfull bass lines..ozzy & tommi went to several of shows from the very 1st cream gig on the uk...they standed at amaze with the raw heavy rock intensity of cream & they saw many people leaving the shows who couldnt handle the loud noise & sonic intensity of the gig..just imagine that shit bro

  • ITS NOT TOMMI.

    ITS FUCKING TONY

  • tony iommi urian..yep..thats right..sorry..i guess im not that into names..im more focus in music...ejeje..ps: black sabbath is boring....zep and purple was more dinamic...sabbath was....boring..

  • Got Damn Right!.

  • This is why I love(d) Deep Purple: diverse musicians, heavy rockers but sensitive (no wankers need apply), intelligent music, experimental, iconic yet iconoclastic at the same time... oh, gawd, what happened to the state of music recently?

  • hahaha

  • It's so obvious how unrehearsed and/or uninterested the orchestra was. Every time they do any syncopated sections it just sounds fucking terrible.

  • suck a cock clashboy

  • such feel when blackmore starts playing insane, not to mention the skill and performance of paice, I cant say led zepp is bad but it is my opinion Purple is a much more skilled set of musicians.

  • deep purple are real musicians. lets see zeppelin try that. they'd fail miserably!

  • ??????

paice and bonham were the best back in the day......and not forgetting mitch mitchel....wtf!!!!!

  • mitch mitchell and ian paice are both 10000 times better than bonham ever was!

  • no...

  • yes. deal with it!

  • i guess then its taste in music.......just because you don't like them doesn't mean their not great musicians......and ohhh i forgot bill ward......\m/

  • i like zeppelin a lot, but the truth is they are fucking thieving rip-off overrated cunts!

  • hm hm hm hahaha oohh, you all make me laugh... mithcel, bonham and paice where the best and bonham maybe was the best of all, but ... well its all bout stupid decisions...

  • bonham is over-rated. pace destroys him. deal with it!

  • I think bonham had very powerul and remarkable playing. But I like Paice more.....He has great snare sound and has great feeling.

  • more cow bell

  • Impressive :)

  • y r u calling them gay

i saw ur page and u listen to slipknot and other gay bands that are nothing compared to deep purple

  • deep purple also has a song called april its awesome

  • I bet the orchestra's percussionist rolled his eyes pretty hard during Paice's solo.

  • Why would you say that???

  • QUE VIDEO!!!!!!!!

  • This is a Masterpiece !!!!! Deep Purple is a god of music!!!

  • god of music.

  • wwhhhhooo great

  • the concerto was limited in the fact that the rock and classic took turns rather than play through together. in comparison to Salisbury by Uriah Heep, this concert was only a shallow stepping stone in the bridge between the worlds of rock and classical music

  • You can bet the young Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne watched what was going on here very, very closely!

  • listen to deep purple's gemini suite which is also with orchestra. the rock and classical are very well blended!

  • i say one word: MASTERPIECE (all 3 movements)

  • paice played the drums for only 6 years when he played that solo!! he must have practised like mad!!

  • Shame they cut Ian Paice's drum solo in the middle - I went to this 1 off concert, it was really something.

  • Paice is god!

  • this is such an incredible orgy of instruments and musical genres. it´s mindblowing. been watching this vid everyday for a week now, cant get enough of it...

  • 1:50 for me the best magics 10 seconds riff history, a lo Ennio Morricone western

  • Paice,Baker,Laing!

  • it not cool¡¡¡¡¡

  • palmer,bonham,paice,bruford

  • LOL, my mistake, petrucci it's not a drummer, I meant mike portnoy,

  • here's a fact: ian paice, john bonham, neil peart, keith moon, petrucci, buddy rich, mitch mitchell, are the best drummers ever, you can like or not, accept this, beatles was a great band, and ringo was a competent drummer, but nothin much.

  • ringo was a great drummer. No he wasn't dynamic or technically worship-worthy, BUT just like the other three musicians in the Beatles his parts were excellently arranged and diverse, especially in the later years.

  • what about Bill Ward of Black Sabbath, watch War Pigs Live in Paris 1970

  • You were looking for hard and pure and classical and drug-absolutely-free-real-JOY: YOU are so RIGHT to be here!

    De Schepper

Get a belgain-beer, NOT EI HEINEKEN!, while you can!

  • nice to see Ritchie play something other than a strat.
