Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this! I have been looking for it for years! I had this album when I was a kid in the early 80's and we listened to it all the time. We were just as scared hearing it the hundredth time as we were the first. We (my siblings & cousins & I) still recite..... "Do you have it?!!" "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" I would love to get my hands on this album again.
Monkey's Paw is a completely different story. You may be thinking of "The Skinny Toe", which is basically the exact same story as "Golden Arm" except a person finds a dismembered "skinny toe" in the garden of a dead woman's house and her ghost comes back for it that night.
WHEN I WAS 5 YRS OLD AT ALL FAMLY GATHERINS AND STUFF I CULD TELL THIS WHOLE STORY WORD FOR WORD LOL I FUKN LOVESD THISALBUM I CANT FIND THE BOOGER STORY HE MADE THE COLD WATER RUN HOT AND HOT WATER RUN COLD ANYONE WITH THIS ALBUM I GOT 300 BUKS FOR IT
Thanks for much for this! I had this record as a kid in the 70's and I used to play this story over and over again...great memories and a great ghost story!
Thank you for posting this story. My brother and I listened to this album all the time and would get scared every time. Now I am on a hunt for that album. Thanx for bringing back the good ole memories!!
The version I heard at the the Mark Twain Muswum was different. They had it set up so you could listen to it through earphones. It was spoken by someone trying to sound like the old man who told it to Twain when he was a child. There was no name given to the wife, and it used the phrase, "Who, who, WHOOO stole my golden arm?" The "whos" were made to sound like the wind. I think it was scarier than this version. I wish I could find it online. I jumped out of my skin.
@melora72 The version you describe can be seen on the DVD "Mark Twain Tonight", a video of the one-man-show actor Hal Holbrook does in the character of Mark Twain. He tells the Golden Arm story in a manner you describe, and it is spooky.
i've been lookin for this for years - my best friend and i would listen to it when we where 6 years old and go running out of the house screaming near the end - thank you posting it ! he he he!!!!!!
At the middle school after school program I used to work at I would play these stories around Halloween time. They LOVED it! Kids still love this stuff, they just need to discover it :)
I bought this album at a book fair in grammar school back in 1977 or so, Im 41 years old now and this STILL gives me goose bumps. I still cant listen to this in a dark house at night!! The sound effects paint the perfect picture of the creepy settings... I say all this as I listen to the story again in the dark!! Yikes!!
Memories of my childhood... thanks for posting this!!
I wish I still had this album. I loved playing it for my siblings. We were so easily amused back then. Kids today don't know what they are missing out on. I want to thank the poster of this album!
I still have this record. My cousins and I used to listen to this when we were kids. We would follow along and act out the story. Used to scare the sh** out of us. Good times.
Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one who has this.....I was born and raised in the country in NC where it was very dark at night and no night lights....I would walk up the path to my grandmothers house and my mean older brother would yell out WHERE IS MY GOLDEN ARM......
i had this album when i was young. please put the goblin and shipwreck on your sight also.this story scared me to death when i was a kid lol

If the wife really loved her husband, she'd understand he only took the arm because it needed it to survive.
