@PvmPhenom The turbo is a Garret GT35R at the time of this video which I swapped out for a Precision 6262 later. The Bov is a HKS Super SQV. Exhaust was custom build by Van der Linde Developments.
OMFG i just love how car sounds, anyways my stock 01 m3 e46 take to much time to start basically it doesn´t star at the firs time when i turn the key .. i dont know why... anyone knows something about that?? it culd be sparkplugs ,fuel fliter? thanx
god damn that car is a beast!!!!! what are you pushing? wheel HP? and is it the smg or manual 6?......about to start my strip build of my 04 m3...just looking for ideas to start off with...thanks....keep it strong
No, the original M3 S54 block had a hole punched through it thanks to a rodbolt failure. Now the car has a steel block from a 328. The whole engine is 328i. Pistons and conrods are aftermarket.
What engine mounts did you use? Not the ones that bolt to the engine block but the ones that bolt to the subframe. I mounted this engine into my E46 and it sits a little bit further back than the stock engine.
Hi. I used the S54 mounts to mount the engine initially and with those in place ,made a plate and mandrel infront of the engine for location through the mains. Thereafter I could remove the original mountings and fabricated my own at the new tilt angle(about half of the original tilt) .I did this to give myself more clearance to fabricate the exhaust manifold to turbo. Subframe is original M3E46.
Thank you for the response! I figured it out, I had to slightly modify the subframe and everything is sitting nicely now. You are dry sump correct? did you make that yourself, or buy the setup? I wouldn't mind straightening up the engine like you did. would make things so much easier.
Yes I am using a drysump. Bought all the hardware from ARE drysump systems except the hoses and fittings ,which I bought from International Race Supplies. Also made my own custom plate to replace the filter housing and using a laminova heat exchanger from mocal.
AFAIK, it is a twin plate clutch supplied by SAVSPEED. I have driven the car as well and also stalled numerous times. One needs to keep the revs up when engaging the clutch and the unpracticed driver will always have a very jerky pull off.
@rad1euro A conrod bolt failed on the S54 engine and a lot of things were destroyed. incl. a hole in the block. The M52 was chosen because the large amounts of turbocharging experience from people all over the world. We couldn't find another S54 and my brother decided it would be better to have the freely available M52. The lower price was also a factor. The car uses a standalone aftermarket ECU and my brother built a complete wiring harness himself. There were some headaches, but that's normal.
@rad1euro You are correct about the engine. The car started out its life as an E46 M3 and if I had called it an E46 328i Turbo, someone might have called me on that. Generally cars keep their original model name after an engine swop, so I went with that option.
Oh and exhaust?

@shamil808 Mike built the car and engine himself, Savspeed does the dynotuning. Budler has no involvement in this car.
