No! it has never broken down at all. I do put it through its paces and it always passes with flying colours. The gear box is so responsive and so forgiving, and the rest of the build quality is just exquisite. I handles like a dream and everything is very well built and to the highest quality!! In my opinion the XK was built to very standards
