yeah that short could have been shot better i agree, but when you have a half retarted camera man who insist doing it a certain way since he goes to class for it, its hard to do that.
it was like i needed a translator or something because he would not just listen!
the scene where im on the brick wall, we both told him to zoom out and what did he do? pans in on the shot! complete opposite of what i was trying to achieve! sheesh!never working with that guy again, hope he doesnt really get into real film or were all doomed~!
Thank you andrew, I would also like to make the point that while the jumps and rolls were very good, you should really include some more impressive ways of either geting the money or using more spectacular techniques during the fights. The rolls and jumps made me think that the whole movie was going to be stunt oriented, oh and the ninja shouldn't have a saber, its comedic but it should be accurate
Andrew don't you dare attack me on this because A: I'm right B: Im the stunt guy so I can make that call and C: Im really pissed you forgot my birthday
I didn't forget your birthday. I'm just really really busy, sorry I can't come. And no your not right, the type of stunts are totally his choice, the angles & shots are what needed work. And no your not a stunt guy, no matter what you want to call yourself you not anything until someone teaches you, therefore you can't make any such calls. I'm sure GHS has a cinema class, take it. Trust me, I didn't know shit until I took that class. Look at all I know now, I'm only half way through the class.
Ok, where exactly did you learn about stunts? As soon as you get it into your head that you can't just say you know something and actually know it without any professional lessons, then these conflicts will stop.
about that...we were filming a 2 min short and we didnt want to go all out especially with campus police right above us the whole time, i understand the quality of film making and i really had nothing to do with any of this, due to the fact the camera man was a douchebag film major who wanted to call shots.
Sweet, here are some tips. The shots were boring. You need to spice them up a bit, add more angles and shots to one scene. They are also too long, you need to shorten them and break them up over more angles. Lighting can be tricky, you have to be careful when filming in an outdoors. During action scenes (sword fighting), the shots need to be shorter than the non-action scenes. You should use close ups to highlight important objects, characters and facial expressions.. I need another comment box.
You should make some establishing shots, long shots to convey the area before the action starts. Great Sound and Special FX. I recommend taking a cinematography class, trust me it helps a lot. Nice flick bro.
Do your own version of this without the 'film major' haha good job though.

thanks for the advice!
you want to know something bad?
i was trying my best to get the shots i wanted and i got none of them!
the camera man was a FILM MAJOR too and i almost ended up knocking him out, he lost at least 2-3 hours of material with good light.
thats why the scenes dramatically changed lighting, also he didnt tell us he lost the footage until after it got dark.....

Lol, He doesn't share you huge interest in swords, man. Plus props cost money, sometimes you just have to use what's at hand.
