I think he said ''eman'' wich means flow in latin but also he said ''clepsydras'' which acording to wikipedia and as you know for you're greek means water clock and in ancient greece it was a device to transport vast amounts so could be used as an analogy of time. One thing I'm sure though HE WAS SPEAKING at least SOME greek.
I think i was one of those people that watched the matrix and just remember Keanu Reves from this movie. So i laughed through the whole thing, he will never shake off this role.
@jstealth89: I know what you mean. I kind of grew up on the B&T movies so I try not to think about them while watching Matrix. But it's hard not to especially when Neo says "Whoa" at Morpheus jumping to the other building. And I always get a kick out of the last scene when Neo walks out of the phone booth. I've seen that guy step out of a phone booth literally thousands of times.
Fantastic movie. I think the best scene in the whole film is when they introduce all of the historical figures to Missy with completely stupid, made up names. "This is Bob Genghis Khan, Herman the Kid, Socrates Johnson and Abraham....Lincoln."
One of the funny things about this great scene is that the punchline ("Days of Our Lives") often gets overlooked because of the "Dust in the Wind" moment.
@RyanWKrol I was too young to watch, and too male too care about, soaps back then, but even I understood the "Days" joke when I watched this movie back in the day from hearing the line thanks to my mom's daytime TV habits.
@sjm757 One of the requirements of understanding comedy is knowing pop culture so you can actually understand the humor. It's amazing to me how many people watch Family Guy and laugh their asses off, and then recite the jokes without even understanding the context.
@06stephend LOLOL that's what I asked myself when I saw this movie xD was skimming through the channels and saw this and i was like WAIT WTF KEANU REEVES? THE FUCK?
@AKemiluvly He became one of those Roman statues gracing great architecture and gardens in Italy *sighs dreamily*
((Aka I always thought he looked like one of those Greco-Roman statues lols. Realistically I suppose you could always look him up on IMDB: Internet Movie Data Base)) (=
i think it's awesome that this film can be so light-hearted, funny and innocent on the surface, and have such intelligent philosophical connotations if you look a little closer. that's why this film is fuckin brilliant. xD party on, dudes.
Intelligent philosophical connotations? Ted just quoted Kansas's "Dust in the Wind" to him, and then Socrates was inspired to quote the openin to the soap opera "Days of Our Lives". There is a similar joke in the second film where they quote Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" when asked by God what the meaning of life is.
Damn, just in watching that 1st exchange regarding Socrates and the whole "Knowing you know nothing" idea, the fact that they are so instantly aware of their own ignorance "Hey, that's us!" adds an almost zen-like embrace of blissful and utterly well-feeling ignorance to their characters. Not even ignorance, but a kind of wise naivety. Think about the ending of Bogus Journey, they innately understand time-travel as the possibilities occur to them, allowing them to triumph most triumphantly.
No, dude, it is no Latin, I learned both languages. In the country, where I come from, the pupils often have the choice between Latin and French. And French is too hard for many, amice. But there is one language everybody should speak and that is Bill&Tedish, dude.
