  • I think is a mixture between latin and greek.

I think he said ''eman'' wich means flow in latin but also he said ''clepsydras'' which acording to wikipedia and as you know for you're greek means water clock and in ancient greece it was a device to transport vast amounts so could be used as an analogy of time. One thing I'm sure though HE WAS SPEAKING at least SOME greek.

  • héhe_i_fÈël_sÖ_loÑêly_tÕÐây

  • XD it's listed under Socrates

  • Lets bag em:)

  • Man I forgot how awesome this movie is!!

  • No matter how big a star Keanu Reeves gets, I will always remember him as Ted..*Dude*

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!

Ted-All we are is dust in the wind dude

Socraits-AHHHH Like sand in the hour glass so are the days of our lives

    Epic

  • i didnt know Socrates spoke latin!!!!!!!! AWESOME DUDE

  • All we are is dust in the Flood.

  • Flood was here

  • 6 people dont know that they know nothing

  • me and my friend are getting all we are is dust in the wind dude tattooed.

  • I think i was one of those people that watched the matrix and just remember Keanu Reves from this movie. So i laughed through the whole thing, he will never shake off this role.

  • @jstealth89: I know what you mean. I kind of grew up on the B&T movies so I try not to think about them while watching Matrix. But it's hard not to especially when Neo says "Whoa" at Morpheus jumping to the other building. And I always get a kick out of the last scene when Neo walks out of the phone booth. I've seen that guy step out of a phone booth literally thousands of times.

  • @isabelzavoranu ha ha yeah me too i grew up watching this joker.. i laughed hysterically when he said "WHOA" in the matrix too.

  • iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnn tiiiiiiiiiiimmme we'll be dancin in the streets alllll night

  • "Sew-crates" lawl!

  • Best part of the movie.:-)

  • What movie is this

  • best scene in the movie

  • Keanu reeves is hott!

  • Thousands of years later, he made his own TV show.

  • A little bit of the ol' KANSAS wisdom there, eh?

  • Fantastic movie. I think the best scene in the whole film is when they introduce all of the historical figures to Missy with completely stupid, made up names. "This is Bob Genghis Khan, Herman the Kid, Socrates Johnson and Abraham....Lincoln."

  • That's us, dude!

  • "I dunno.....philoshiphize with him dude." LMAO my favorite quote from this most excellent film.

  • Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, handled the whole "what if the future you, met the past you?" brilliantly.

  • The only true wisdom consists in "knowing that you know nothing".

    That's us dude!!!!

  • The CHOSEN ONE!

  • One of the funny things about this great scene is that the punchline ("Days of Our Lives") often gets overlooked because of the "Dust in the Wind" moment.

  • @RyanWKrol I was too young to watch, and too male too care about, soaps back then, but even I understood the "Days" joke when I watched this movie back in the day from hearing the line thanks to my mom's daytime TV habits.

  • @sjm757 One of the requirements of understanding comedy is knowing pop culture so you can actually understand the humor. It's amazing to me how many people watch Family Guy and laugh their asses off, and then recite the jokes without even understanding the context.

  • Is that.... Keanu Reeves?

  • @06stephend of course it is dude!

  • @06stephend Yes! Before he was sad.

  • @06stephend

    he looks so young!

  • @06stephend yes

  • @06stephend LOLOL that's what I asked myself when I saw this movie xD was skimming through the channels and saw this and i was like WAIT WTF KEANU REEVES? THE FUCK?

    hahahahahahha

  • @06stephend lol

  • @06stephend Fucking children, all 26 of you!!!

  • Sexy Riyaad Approves.

  • My college Philosophy teacher calls Socrates"So-crates" in homage to this movie! Freakin' hilarious!

  • "Like sands of the hourglass, so are the days of our lives."

  • This film is most triumphant.

  • Because of this film, I started reading Socrates as so crates :P

  • FAVV

  • lol i love socrates' expressions xD

  • The second statue looks just like Phil Collins from Genesis.

  • what movie is this?

  • @Weirdal0123 bill and ted's excellent adventure dude!

  • Favorite. Line. Ever.

  • did the blond guy ever go somewere?never seen him in any thing else.

  • @AKemiluvly He became one of those Roman statues gracing great architecture and gardens in Italy *sighs dreamily*

((Aka I always thought he looked like one of those Greco-Roman statues lols. Realistically I suppose you could always look him up on IMDB: Internet Movie Data Base)) (=

  • @AKemiluvly he became a director

  • @AKemiluvly His name is Alex Winter. He was also in the vampire movie The Lost Boys.

  • all we are is dust in the wind dude :)) only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing, hey that's us dude :)) love this film :)

  • lol how does a guy that speaks ancient greek understand english? it's an awesome movie

  • @Azrael666Azazel the face at 1:45 tells me he doesnt

  • they should have made it obvious that Aristotle and Plato were sitting around listening to him

  • Ahh childhood memories. LOVE IT! The 2nd one isn't too bad, either.

  • Let's bag him

  • this scene is most bodacious dude

    SOcrates is excellent

  • I totally want a T-Shirt with "Dust. Wind. DUDE" written in bold :)))

Most excellent, dudes! :D *does air guitar*

  • Can anyone tell me the significance of the anachronism of the guy with the ball at the very beginning? I've never noticed that before.

  • That's Billy the Kid -- they picked up up before Socrates.

  • That´s Billy the Kid dude

  • @adamcolbert idk, he has pants on?

  • most outstanding.

  • ...and knowing is half the battle.

    YO-JOE!!!

  • I love socrates face when Ted says "all we are, is dust in the wind dude."

  • ...YOU'LL SEE! :]

  • @gorillabiscuits

  • LMAO the Days of Our Lives...

  • This is an all time classic!

Haha in this one they both

    say "Dust, Wind, Dude"

    and in the second movie

they say "Every Rose has its thorn"

  • Dust, Wind. DUDE

  • OH! AH! YES, like the sands of the hourglass! phew! HA!

  • All of the commenters here are most triumphant. Party on, dudes.

  • strange things are afoot at the circle K

  • "The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing."

"And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know." :)

  • Yo SOcrates, don't drink the hemlock dude.

  • It'd be fun to party with the historical figures from this movie.

  • philosophize with him!

  • 1:31 BEST QUOTE EVER

  • Socrates calls Sigmund Freud a geek in this movie.

    Epic.

  • Dust. Wind. Dude.

    Excellent.

  • i think it's awesome that this film can be so light-hearted, funny and innocent on the surface, and have such intelligent philosophical connotations if you look a little closer. that's why this film is fuckin brilliant. xD party on, dudes.

  • Intelligent philosophical connotations? Ted just quoted Kansas's "Dust in the Wind" to him, and then Socrates was inspired to quote the openin to the soap opera "Days of Our Lives". There is a similar joke in the second film where they quote Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" when asked by God what the meaning of life is.

That said, both movies are great.

  • @0m

Damn, just in watching that 1st exchange regarding Socrates and the whole "Knowing you know nothing" idea, the fact that they are so instantly aware of their own ignorance "Hey, that's us!" adds an almost zen-like embrace of blissful and utterly well-feeling ignorance to their characters. Not even ignorance, but a kind of wise naivety. Think about the ending of Bogus Journey, they innately understand time-travel as the possibilities occur to them, allowing them to triumph most triumphantly.

  • It's not real Greek and I have no idea what language the actor tries to speek, but the szene is great, dudes!

  • Well, of course it is not Greek it's Latin, the dead language. Only Scholars and Doctors know it. Cogito ergo sum! Ergo sum proctor hoc!

  • No, dude, it is no Latin, I learned both languages. In the country, where I come from, the pupils often have the choice between Latin and French. And French is too hard for many, amice. But there is one language everybody should speak and that is Bill&Tedish, dude.

  • he sounds more italian then greek

  • Eastern Australia (Brisbane and Sydney) had the worst dust storm in 70 years yesterday 23 Sept (Google the images - it was fucked up) and all I could think was "All we are... is dust in the wind dude. Dust.... Wind.... Dude..."

  • THIS IS GREAT!!!!

  • Too bad the language Socrates speaks is not real greek.

  • LoL - Socraits. That's how I pronounced it when I first saw it written! xD

"Dust. Wind. Dude." I'm putting that on a bumper sticker.

  • You make it, and you can like buy it, Send me that link. Because I'd put it on my car!

  • @WhispersFromTheAbyss i'm getting it tatooed on my ass

  • "philoiphize with him" LOL

  • Dust! Wind! Dude!!!

  • Bill: Dust ... Wind

    Ted: DUDE!!!!

    Socrates Just freaks out

  • I love the expression at 1:08

    classic

  • Keanu Reaves really is an awful actor and yet this is one of my all time fav films but i have to disagree with babyjackjack2 on the kicking him thing

  • This is all I can think of while trying to write my philosophy paper on this guy.

But its okay, because this movie is awesome.

  • Why would he want to live down this role? It's still his finest moment. The Matrix sucks.

  • lol and all he saids is, "Woah...." lol

  • haha amazing kansas reference! lol

  • Like sands of the hourglass, so are the days of our lives

  • EXCELLENT!!

    (Plays riff on imaginary guitar.....)

  • Hmm, so if Alex Winter had played Neo, we wouldn't know who Keanu Reeves is.

  • yeah we would, because of the movie speed

  • or the less common 'babes in toyland'

  • ichiris, I've never heard of that movie before "babes in toyland" ur right it must be the less common

  • most excellent.

i wanted to show my philosophy teacher this.

  • Lol I have now figured out why I have pronounced "Socrates" wrong all these years....because when I was a little kid, I watched Bill and Ted! Most triumphant!

it has a picture of the sphinx on the cover.

  • i love how billy is just sitting around playing with a nerf football

  • hahah I grew up on this movie, total classic! I find it much more enjoyable watching it now, after having smoked about 10 joints :D

  • i've prolly seen this movie a couple thousand times [at least] and i find that if i'm too baked when watching it it's kind of serious and a commentary on consumerism!:D

  • dust, wind... DUDE!

ah! like sands of the hourglass, so are the days of our lives!

lets get out of here dude.
