Like most of the rest of us in Scotland they left religion in the dark shadows of the past where it belongs. The imagery is still powerful and useful though.

I was just speculating that the name Iscariot meant dearest one.Howevever there other things concerning Judas that could be translated differently. eg 'He held the purse' is probably better translated as 'He held the least position'.
