I am 40 now but this movie takes me right back! Like yesterday. Mum took me along to see this when it first came out in the summer school holidays. We went to the now gone Hoyts Centre in Hay Street Mall, Perth City. I still have the soundtrack album from there that we bought that day after the movie. RIP Mum and Dad....miss you everyday and miss the genius of Jim Henson too lighting up this planet. Brilliant!

I think it's physically impossible for my brother and I to not sing along when we hear the rainbow connection. Growing up with old cassettes and such of the muppets, it's safe to say that this was one of their best songs, for us at least.

"The Muppet Movie" actually isn't Jim Henson's first movie. The first was "Follow That Bird," which was (almost obviously) about Big Bird. And it is adorable.

This is one of those songs that gets better the more you think about it. It's about the human love of the sublime and the irrational - that tendency we have to find things impossible to reach and believe in them beyond any boundaries of sense. But someday all that adoration of the odd will pay off, and our fragile visions will become tangible 'connections' to what we've loved. Pretending and wishing is a silly thing, but it's more worth-it than anything. :) What a way to start a movie.

Well I definitely will be honest and say this wasn't my top notch favorite. I think some of us can agree. But its not horrible and it IS the first movie of the Muppets so I won't complain. I'm doing a Muppet marathon tribute for Jim. I'm thankful someone posted these movies on here and glad youtube didn't take it off. These are hard to find nowadays. I remember I had a 400 dollar late fee for this movie when I rented it. XD It was that attachable.

When I was a young girl back in the early 80's, my bedroom was fixed up in rainbows and unicorns. The best item I had in there was a jewelry box that my mother had made just for me with the Rainbow Connection tune playing everytime I opened it. Instead of the dancing balerina, I had a unicorn. Great memories

It may be obvious but there is an irony about the song in the beginning - "Rainbow Connection". The song seems to have such longing to achieve a dream that seems impossible and yet at first Kermit doesn't do anything until someone gives him the idea to chase the dream that the song has been longing for.
