  • I could hear this from my bedroom when I was in for my nap in the late 60's

  • 8 November 1965. Day of death of Dorothy Kilgallen.

  • This is one of the most beautiful theme songs ever.

  • Love this theme song

  • Maybe someone could help me-does anyone have any clips of DAYS from 1967-69 when Tommy Horton, his wife Kitty & daughtert sandy were on the show?

  • didn't edward prentiss portray john martin on the show as well?

  • @tallulah1961 Yes, but he only filled in as an emergency for one episode when Bob Brubaker couldn't appear.

  • They are still using the same hour glass in same background till this day. (ofcourse they smoothes it out and spin it around now with hd color but) still almost the same

  • @Brieanna27

Well, it's not exactly the "same" hourglass. The one in this video, used in 1965, was an actual real hourglass that was filmed. It's been said that no one knows what happened to this hourglass, where it is now. The current version of the hourglass, which debuted in 1994, is all computer animation.

  • @Brieanna27 True. The newer version is computer generated I think.

  • Shit I just got goosepimples.

  • Where did you get the footage of the pilot?

  • @camerongainer

My original copy that I received years ago was in black-and-white. Later, I got the color copy from the special 35th anniversary video released in 2000. A few years back, SoapNet aired the first and second episode of "Days" for all the fans to see.

  • So classic I love it!!

  • what chnnle is days of our lives on in united kingdom and what time and what days

  • I want to start watching from episode 1.

  • Hmm, that's not McDonald Cary's voice.

  • @CadillacL Announcer Ed Prentiss did the narration for the theme from the show's inception in November 1965 until series star MacDonald Carey began providing the voiceover in March 1966.

  • @MikeBlitzMag Thanx was wondering about that.

  • Doesn't that hour glass look Giant! I wonder how tall it really is?

  • Classic !

  • I saw this original intro back when I was in kindergarten, during the soap's early years. It's much better than the current one.

  • My great grandmda has watched this show every day since 1965. XD

  • As 1965 & 1966 went on NBC phased out their remaining b&w shows to the point where it was all-color a year after DOOL premiered. The program it replaced was a Canadian monochrome import, "Moment Of Truth". DOOL's 2:00 PM ET competition was CBS' "Password" and ABC's "The Nurses". Most soaps of the era were still shown in b&w.

  • Awesome thanks.

  • Toms voice is so comfortable

  • too cute!

  • Beautiful!

  • that's when days of our lives first started back then

  • Awesome!

  • Thank you for posting this. Although I was not alive, the casting of MacDonald Carey offered the show a great deal of prestige and they still use his voice in the intro today.

  • @burbank after he died they "auditoned" several cast members to do the opening....the end result was keeping MacDonald Carey's voice

  • it's the Joey SHow from friends isn't?

  • Was this their first ever theme

  • Yes. It is from the first episode of 11/8/65.

  • Was this the only time the "new dramatic serial..." bit was used in the opening?

  • @quizmaster85 For the first couple of weeks, IIRC. They introduced Mac's spiel around 1966.

  • @daysofyesteryear I was gonna say, it sounds like it's the first show.

  • in glorious colour:)

  • it's weird from the 1900's to the 2000's.

  • TY TY TY TY
