  • I love our congolese music bisengo ya suka te

  • lets back in time

  • The sad thing everything he sang in this song happened exactly before he died! My dad was his primary physician and one of his good friends. When DJo mpoyi was hospitalized people didn't come to help him but when he died everybody wanted to contribute for his funeral. This world is F***ed up!

  • @Moktarization What killed him, if I may ask?

  • Mr Djo Mpoyi is singing from the heart here; pouring all his emotions into this song. I think this is what makes Congolese music so good; these guys SING and do not make style. Rest in Peace Mr. Mpoyi, you are one of the unsung heroes of this phenomenon called TP OK Jazz.

  • Who's this doing the lead singing?

  • @Loketo08 Djo Mpoyi I think He died a while back

  • Mr JO Mpoyï 's great.

    you'r the best forever.

    Amen !

  • rip djo

  • Djo Mpoyi

  • So who's playing the mandola?

  • @PaddyMacNasty

Mandola is the name of someone. In this case the singer says his name is Mandola.

  • @PaddyMacNasty The song is about the hardships of poverty. He's singing from the perspective of a poor man named Mandola who is lamenting his social status.

  • rip

  • Truly awesome shoulder pads :-)

  • Beautiful man, with a beautiful voice ...love the song, cant get enough of it..

  • Watch Old Djo Mpoyi on kairitukega channel

  • thank you

  • but now he is sick ,poor and in need nobody come to help. he goes to differents people to request help but nothing. but he knows one day he will die and those powerfull people will come to onour him as star of zaire and i wll be buried in luxury cimetery.

  • my english is not that good but itry to translate for u. hes talks about how him as famous singer,he please alot of people rich and poor.

  • I am requesting a translation of this music anyone of you good Congolese who care. Thanks a great deal.

  • Credo che la storia ci abbia donato dei uomini straordinari che nient'altro hanno fatto se non sollevare il buon nome dell musica africana.Grazie mille FRANCO!

  • Il était extrêmement charismatique et très talentueux. Voilà ce qui le démarque des autres

  • Or my God Mandola, this all takes be back to the 80s 90s when Nairobi was nairobi. Danced to this song at Carnival and the city Nightclubs. Thank you thank you for bringing this Great African Master whom i met in Nairobi when we celebrated 20 Or 25 Great Years and yes Ok Jazz was Invited. Wola

  • He was fine!!!that too!!

  • RIP_ he was fine and had a beautiful voice - ALAS!!

  • Djo Mpoyi, le vrai chanteur de charme.RIP

  • A masterpiece!

  • this singer is terrific, these guitarists are terrific as are all these musicians!!i love the body language of djo mpoyi +gerry dialiugana !!!the latter guy s expressions seem to me so earnest+innocent + humble oh thankgoodness for rahndi,s postings!!

  • what is djo mpoy singing about ?. In my native kenya "mawe" are stones.

  • Mawe in this context is an expression of sorrow. But you are right,in congo we say "MABWE" for stone.Zimbabwe for example means simply "house in stones".It is not surprising if you consider that bantus are the same people everywhere they are in africa

  • Yaamoke, I am from Kenya too and you are right. Mawe is an expression of sorrow in Kenya too when it is used instead of "mama we".

  • Timeless classic...Music was then and not what we have now with all the"mabanga". Congo forever!

  • Has anyone notice that most the classic Congolese singers male or female used to be so HOT, the men were really handsome and were real men, the women were ladies, but nowadays, the women dress up like sluts, not in a classy way and the men, not the type you want to take home to meet papa or mama at all. sorry for any offence to any Congolese people, but please take a look at today's society, its really a shame.

  • @Thequeenofkush Unfortunately it is true.

  • @Thequeenofkush I agree with you.

  • @Thequeenofkush am i understanding you correctly, are you saying it's only bad for women to have lots of sex? or would you not take the men home to meet papa and mama because the men are sluts as well? if the former, for shame, for shame....

  • what a handsome man, with a beautiful voice, wish he could be singing that to me. In my dreams though, well a girl can't help dreaming. just leave me alone to dream please.

  • Yeap, you have a right to dream girl. I wonder what the girls who interacted with this guy would say if you asked them ques..............tions concerning the person Djo was. Hope they have something sweet to say.

  • The late Djo Mpoyi Kaninda(R.I.P) died after a long struggle with brain tumor.Sadly missed but not forgotten.Keep his legacy alive...

  • Really, this man was born to sing, I will miss him, rest in peace Djo Mpoy; does any body have video "Celio" or "Ida". In celio you will appreciate two voices by passing each other. Lugendo and Mpoy did recommendable job

  • Sad he died. Djo Mpoy loved singing and did an excellent job of it. I love listening to all the music he was the soloist,as well as when he supported others. I hope he died a happy man with family around him. He brought joy to many who listened to him. All of us will miss him.

  • Hi all TPOK fans. Anybody can tell me the song " ILUNGA YA CHERRY" if not mistaken was a big hit in ealry 80, what is the tittle? I'm badly looking for it. Thanx in advance.

  • Elongi ya cherie was written by NGUASHY NTIMBO in the late seventies.i havnt heard of him for 20 years,i think he converted to christianity and became a pastor in mid eighties.

  • Hi Mukubwa. Jambo Mzee. Thanx for your reply. Its true Nguashi Ntimbo and TPOK Jazz did this song. I've serched in GOOGLE but no answer. If you will happen to have or know the place to buy, please let me know.

  • this is the first i see this video and i'm so happy to see that Ndjo poy again

  • Rest in peace Jo Mpoy ...

  • what killed talented Djo? Just curious.....

  • According to many sources, Djo was infected by the disease of the century... Nobody sings like him, it may take us another decade to have this voice...May his soul rest in peace.

    Thanks for the video

  • I love my country...i really want to go back...

  • beautiful song Djo Mpoyi really did a brilliant job.

  • can't get enough of the horns. beautiful!!!!!

  • Full repotoire of OK Jazz instruments. Real Jazz Orchestra !!The sonorous voice of the Djo Mpoyi Kaninda ( R.I.P ) adds the human touch of raw emotion of the song to its audience.

  • This is a Simaro Masiya composition.

  • I agree that the music is fantastic Djo Mpoyi really brings the songs to life. I am not Congolese so the words are lost to me, any idea of where I can get translations of the songs and biographies of these great musicians?

  • Papa Noel's frigging solo is relentless. Another classic from the greatest band of all time. For me, this is second behind Mamba- my all time favorite. RIP Gerry Dialungana and of course the star of this song-- Djo Mpoyi.

  • What a jaw droping voice ! ! Yaap ,he must have been the king of skirts wearers. Its understood with sadness that he passed on.

  • Djo Mpoyi, tall, elegant, and with a very sexy voice...I like the way he attaches emotions to the song and the instrumentation that accompanies the melody. TPOK Jazz is irreplaceable I swear!

  • I was so elegant, handsome gun, and with a sweet voice. Oh! I miss him. It's a big lose for us. Thank you for the person who sent that video because I was looking it or the song there are many years.
