just a note, for anyone wondering:

it was announced that Maxey Whitehead will be playing Al in the new series. She's fairly new to funi, but she has had a couple roles, like Antonio in Romeo x Juliet. the easiest way to hear her, tho, is to just search her name, and you'll find a vid of her promoting a play she's in. she's wearing a chicken suit, but you get to hear her voice.

there's high hopes for her right now, and vic says she sounds just like aaron. can't wait to see ^^

Hey guys, I have some unfortunate news. Unfortunatley, Aaron Dismuke will NOT be playing Al in the new series, according to a very recent announcement on FUNimation's web site. The original cast is returning except for Al, Scar, and Isaac Dougal. However, I'd have to imagine that FUNimation at least auditioned Aaron, because the bottom of the page says in big bold letters, "Aaron Dismuke will be featured in another role later in the series." Wonder what it will be...? PS: Maxey Whitehead is Al.

I know he did, but some people were holding out hope that he would do it anyway, on the basis of "Al eventually gets to be 14 and 15 in the series, and Aaron could sound that old as is." The other source of hope was the fact that a few other foreign dubs, including but not limited to the German one, have Al voiced with a "teenager" voice like the one Aaron has now.

In the end, it was for nothing, as unfortunatley he has been replaced. I'm sure this Maxey Whitehead will do fine, though.

if you go to the funimation website and look at the funimation cast release they give a couple of shows where Maxey was a main character in so you can look her up. She can pass as Al i think but you'll definitly be able to tell it's not her. I believe she also did Al's armor voice for the OVA collection Military VS Homonculi but don't quote me on that. I think they might've digital edited Aaron for that since he didn't have alot of lines in that particuar OVA
