Wow... Eric always seemed like he could kick your ass anytime... Mmaybe it was he hair... Seems like a really cool guy. Oh, who I wouldn't kill to meet Eric Bloom: Let's see. Uh, Obama? nah I'd kill him for Eric. Gaga? No, don't need an incentive for her. Uhm, I guess I wouldn't kill CHuck Norris, but that's cuz his beard would stare me to death.
The funny part about the SNL sketch is that they got the characters names wrong. There were 2 people dressed as Buck, and the cowbell player resembled eric. the lead singer was dressed as buck, but was called eric. but there was no eric bloom in the whole sketch.
It only makes sense then.... Grand Theft Auto and Blue Oyster Cult. People are sure to latch on to the music they hear in any given GTA game!! I know I love the series
I've seen them several times over the years. I think they did one of their best sets in Broom Cty Ballon Fair in 2008. They were right on and just killed!!!!!!
At the age of 40 last year, I finally started playing guitar....I suck but I try to play BOC....VERY HARD!!!!....LOL
I wasn't a fan of these guys until the 2000s, but I had heard Don't Fear the Reaper on maybe like three different occasions and after playing True Crime NYC, I realized it was a great song. After checking out some of their other stuff, I'm a huge fan, best band I know of.
I was 10 when Agents was released and I was mesmerized by it. Thanks for posting this and I'm truly happy that EB has survived & prospered through the years. Check out the live posting of Veteran of the Psychic Wars - it rocks!
Thanx for telling your story Eric. Much respect throughout the years, some enchanted career. Yup mid to late 80s sucked for you guys. But great comeback, you deserve it. Saw BOC in Bayshore LI 1988 was excellent show.
who gives a f*ck about Guitar Hero???????? Why end a great interview talking about that????? Ask Eric if they are writing for a new album.................geez, thanks anyway
Greetings from Sunnyside, Queens. I never knew the story of this band but it was fascinating. He seems like the coolest guy. I'm almost positive his cousin is Howard Stern.
Wow, Eric said on part 8 that 2008 was the Cult's best year based on, I guess, a newfound curiosity about the group. I saw them from 1976 on and they put on one of the best live shows around. And cowbell notwithstanding, Secret Treaties, Agents, Spectres, and the live releases should be given a second listen. My kids know about Queen and several groups from that era and BOC should be no exception. Their musicianship was first-rate. I do miss the Bouchards but Eric and Donald are still at it.
It's also true that no matter which lineup...Buck always says "the band has never sounded better" dating back to 1989. After Imaginos it was all downhill IMO.
@NYVoice 2008 We saw boc in rochester mn , they had a crowd from hell and all the great classic gems performed there as, I would say that by just that one show it had to be one of their more outstanding touring years !!!

Eric comes over as a really nice, decent bloke. I bet an evening in a bar with a few beers would be great fun.

LOL I"m on line at the movies waiting to buy popcorn and I hear Cities On Flame on the guitar hero game right there in the lobby.

it'd be fun to watch Buck Dharma muck up on a B.O.C. tune, playing Guitar Hero. "Hey, don't you know how to play your own song, man?".

I have hardly ever watched SNL since the 80's. I just happened to watch that night too. As a BOC fan since 1972, that fucking freaked me out!

Someone has written a book on B.O.C. It's
called "Blue Oyster Cult: Secrets Revealed".
A must have for any BOC fan. Not sure if it's still in print. The author is Martin Popoff. Great book despite all the typos.
Eric B. you rock!!! My favorite frontman of all time and my favorite band of all time. BOC RULES!!!!
