There is no scientific evidence of a bias for one political party over the other in the media. What there is evidence of, is a steady progression of values that reflect the mainstream. Conservatives are not progressives, so of course they would feel left behind. Fox is part of the new media - it started broadcasting in 1996. If the mainstream media was actually fair, objective and covered both sides (or many sides) of political issues equally, there would be no need for Fox News. Fox's ratings show there is a need.

Corporations answering to the dollar leads to an agenda that runs counter to progressive issues on substantial points. Progressive points on health care, subsidies, war, etc., don't get represented. On social issues the corporations are basically indifferent, as long as viewers focus on the controversy of abortion, affirmative action, etc.

I actually read Goldberg's book. It's very insightful. Even he will admit, Obama probably would have won even without the "main stream media" basically campaigning for him. The point is that for most Americans, we don't follow every little thing that happens in politics every day, and we count on the news to keep us informed of what we need to know. And they failed to do that. They had a personal agenda to get Obama elected and they forced it down our throats. Now how do we trust them?
I'm reading his book now and I am enjoying it, but some of it is like...duh!! There is no scientific evidence of a bias for one political party over the other in the media. What there is evidence of, is a steady progression of values that reflect the mainstream. Conservatives are not progressives, so of course they would feel left behind. Effectively, what the right has done is draw an imaginary line in the sand and stay that if you cross it, you are somehow "biased" in favor of the democratic party. Nonsense.

Also, what many firms have only found is differences between "favorable" and "unfavorable" coverage of Presidential candidates, mainly in the last election in the United States. Given the popularity of Barrack Obama and his ethnic makeup, I would be surprised if he didn't receive more coverage. However, that is a far cry from some concerted, overreaching bias in favor of the Democratic Party, as the Far Right suggests.

Being successful doesn't necessarily mean you're mainstream. Fox's success comes from not being part of the mainstream media.
Fox is part of the new media - it started broadcasting in 1996. If the mainstream media was actually fair, objective and covered both sides (or many sides) of political issues equally, there would be no need for Fox News. Fox's ratings show there is a need.

I actually read Goldberg's book. It's very insightful. Even he will admit, Obama probably would have won even without the "main stream media" basically campaigning for him. The point is that for most Americans, we don't follow every little thing that happens in politics every day, and we count on the news to keep us informed of what we need to know. And they failed to do that. They had a personal agenda to get Obama elected and they forced it down our throats. Now how do we trust them?

I'm reading his book now and I am enjoying it, but some of it is like...duh!! That isn't meant as a bash on Goldberg, it's just to say that some of this stuff is so obvious, but it's more of a testament to how blind the mainstream media is to their own bias. And on MSNBC 73% of stories about McCain were bad while only 27% were bad about Obama. On FOX It was 40% bad for each candidate. But, you have your opinion and I have mine. The other thing is people who hate Obama watch Hannity. That's why he's there. Pure demographics and ratings. Are we supposed to believe the other networks are any different?

Yes, I'm sure the fact that Hannity now has his own show as opposed to having a liberal co-host to replace Alan Colmes is a ratings decision. But the Chris Mathews, Network of Change, stuff is just comical.

I'm not saying that some corps aren't bad, but we tax the good and bad out of business. Or that journalists are saints, just in my life and yes,I was uber liberal until about 10 years ago, I"ve seen the liberal become dominant until all other beliefs were viewed as 'wrong'. Actually I'm all for capital punishment.
