i have a pregnant girl and i did a lot of research and from what i have learnt and read this is all wrong... you should never have bred her.. it was really immature of you you treated it like a toy... how would you like to have a baby but not get to hold it and everyone just passes it around... do your research and remove this video because its cruel
Im no expert but why did you guys just hold the puppy? its good you helped her get the pup out but you should have let the mum clean the pup whilst you used the suction... its like you just took over...
Peero seran brutaaas!! Malditas burras
My chihuahua is about to have puppies for the second time in a matter of about 5 days and I'm planing to make sure it's all quiet when the contractions begin and not have a bunch of people around and talk that loud.Poor dog, giving birth is enough difficult as it is, the least you could do is be quiet and not have visitors around.Plus, you do not take the puppy away from it's mother right after the birth, unless there seem's to be a problem. Being separated from her puppy only means more stress.
Many baby animals die in the wild. There is nothing wrong with helping a pet whelp their puppies. Puppies can easily die if they are in the birthing canal too long. I have personally seen it. Giving the mama a little bit of calcium to help her contractions along when she is in active labour may help as well. You guys did an awesome job of soothing ur pet and helping get that baby breathing by cleaning out her breathing ways.
@fun1sue for being a veterinarian you are highly illiterate and they are not putting her to sleep they are relaxing her small breed dogs need assistance at times and veterinary science will teach you this. Small dogs tire and will need help. Don't go off making idiotic assumptions without proof
u dumb fuck i am a vet u don't pull the pup out u cude have pulled the pups head off o and fyi assholes when u rub the dog like that u r puting the dam to sleep u let the dog do it her self unless she is haveing truble or has not had a pup more than 1 1/2 hours apart ur lucky i don't report u for animal abuse u r probibly just haveing puppies for te money i WILL report u and u will NOT have that pore dog any more
This is a very upsetting video and if you were recording this while being mentored then seriously, you need to find another mentor. A REPUTABLE BREEDER who knows how to properly and safely deliver pups.
I have to agree with Kurukullachis, the mum should be allowed to clean her pup, this is where the initial bond is made and by denying her that, you are potentially putting those pups in a dangerous situation with a risk of the dam rejecting them! She is being physically restrained!
Also, I find it incredibly disturbing that there is a room full of people. Labour is a very stressful time for the dam. Its shocking that you have a room full of people speculating over the colour!
Oh and FYI, there's no lavender. Blue is the colour. Its a shame you people didn't care more about the actual dogs than whether or not you have males/females and the colour of them!
I am wrong!! And the breeder wasn't the one who yanked the dam away far too aggressive her eyes were popping out her head!! You clearly aren't breeding to better the breed but for money and colours! I mean you all seem more concerned about the colours you are getting than the poor dam who has to lick her legs because her puppy is taken away from her by some child!!!
Lavender isn't even a recognised colour in the breed!
I don't agree. The first thing the dam should do is clean her puppy and stimulate it if you hold the puppy so she cleans it's face you can keep the cord out the way, this gives it enough time to slacken and the placenta to come out with the next contraction. Research has shown the longer the placenta is attached the better for the puppy. You milk the blood back into the puppy before it is torn to give the puppies essential nutrients/antibodies. There were 3 people in this video correct me if I
@Kurukullachis In this case, the assistant pulled the dam away so the breeder could ensure the placenta was delivered before the cord was cut. A retained placenta would probably just be delivered with the next puppy but it can cause complications and its better to get it out before allowing the mother to clean her puppy. :-)
Yes, I wondered about that too (as I was mentoring when I shot this video) but it was explained, and I witnessed, that the dam is too aggressive with the cord and tries to clean her pups too hard. One of these pups did not survive because the dam ripped the skin at the umbilicus exposing the intestine. This was even after the breeder's attempts to prevent the dam from obsessing over the cord. Every dam is different; this one needs supervision to prevent injury.
CORRECTION! My mistake! I was thinking this was Latte's birth; this dam did not injure any of her puppies but this breeder's other dam did rip a newborn's umbilicus so caution should always be taken until you are certain of your dam's habits around their newborn pups. Blue Jean is a fantastic Mama!
