  • 0:27 "You now have the hand-grenade." WHAT??? Why couldn't this be unlocked in Arkham City???

  • Computer stopped?! Well thank fuck for that!

  • God bless the days where you could finish computer games in under 10 minutes...

  • I'd laugh if it turned out there was never a final percentage point. Seems like the kind of thing to expect from a game that couldn't get the music implemented properly.

  • didn't this game come with a purple corduroy cap with a joker patch on it? I don't remember if I maybe just bought that seperate.. ? Can't remember it was so long ago...

  • Great game. My sister and I used to play this together. I saw the AVGN vid of this recently where he slated it for some reason. He didn't know what he was talking about; this was a great game. He should stick to his NES.

  • Had this tape as part of a bundle I got with my c64. Also came with a light gun & 3 crap games.

What really pissed me off is that Commodore didn't include a joystick, so for the first few months of owning my c64 I was using the keyboard.

Playing Batman on the keyboard was HELL. It took me so long to figure out how to climb the outside of buildings!

Regarding the music, now I remember why I turned it off. The repetition is annoying. Why couldn't the programmers just let the theme play through?

  • @Jarren202

I also got this game in that bundle with the lightgun and the lightgun games :D

Sadly the aim of my lightgun was a bit off though.

  • @laffer35 No great loss mate! My mum used to love the lightgun games (especially Time Traveller) but they were very cheaply programmed. Not the best examples of the C64's capability to showcase to new owners, but then again Commodore had quite a long track record of awful PR! :P

  • @Jarren202 We got this in a bundle aswell, we got a joystick with ours though, no gun

  • @Jarren202 Ha same here, I got some other games with the bundle, like Typing game, Music builder game, Shoot 'em Up Construction Kit and a few other games. I think it was called the 'Light Fantastic Pack' or something. I think I got mine around '88 or '89 and have still got all the games, including this one and and the liight gun. But not the original packaging.

  • @rtrgrl78 Yep that's the one I had too. I think I loaded up the typing program once and never again! I must have got my Light Fantastic pack around '89-'90, as I do remember still being in primary school (P7).

I remember the music program too, didn't it have a big hand waving over the screen? Bloody confusing enough for a 10-year-old without any musical training! I had SEUCK too, but I don't think it came with the LF pack.

The pack after ours, "Night Moves / Mind Benders" was much better.

  • @rtrgrl78 oops, I just googled "commodore 64 light fantastic" and you're quite right, SEUCK was indeed included!

My memory just isn't what it used to be! :P

  • @Jarren202 Hey it's Ok I just remember that particular gift as it was started me loving games more, I remember it being a fantastic starting pack. It will be moving with me soon from my old spare room and room I had when I was kid up to my house. If it goes in the attic will be all wrapped up safe. Can't bear to throw it out. Love this video, never did play it through properly. I think I may live a little in the past : P ! x

  • @rtrgrl78 Cool! I tend to live life in the past too from time to time, but it's all good. I've always been interested in my own history, like when I was a 18 I rediscovered all the music from my childhood, bands like Depeche Mode!

Our own history can tell us so much about who we are today, and it's always nice to have little reminders of those times.

  • lol everyone seemed to come here for the same reason I did to listen to the music.

  • Imagine batman doing all this shit in a film! unlocking doors with keys and eating bananas

I completed this game when I was 6, I dont think I could to it as an adult if I hadn't played it as a child.

  • Someone please post a video of just the music from the level lol, seriously the best part keeps getting cut short.

  • This was a great game! But I remember I got stuck in it and never finished it back in the day. The whole comic panel thing was used again much later in Comix Zone in the Genesis.

  • Man, THAT was anticlimatic.

Thanks forshowing me what to do with the lift key thou.

  • That has too be the worst ending ever for any computer game.

  • Yeah it's pretty bad. Krakout is worse though.

  • ;_;

    What a terrible ending.

  • i watched it too

  • I've watched the AVGN review and the music is pretty cool and stylish, but I'm not able to listen to it.

  • ...Why mention his review of it?

  • The poor music programmer must have biten his own ass when he realised that the best part of his music would not even be played most of the time because of the stupid music reset whenever you pick something up.

  • i watched this on angry video game nerd vidoe and a great piece of music played from this..its so cruel that i cant hear it cause of music reset..i want to record it sooo bad

  • Yeah... It annoys me alot. The part we hardly get to hear is so fucking awesome that it's incredible.

4516232: Download an emulator (winVICE is preferably) + the ROM from c64scene[DOT]net and you're good to go!

  • *sigh*

    prefarable*

  • I remember this game was developed by 'The Hit Squad' Are they a british company? As I noticed channel 4's logo on the TV screen.

  • The Hit Squad was a budget re-release label, the game was originally released by Ocean.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • This campaign was disappointing since you didn't even have to cross paths with Penguin to complete the mission. C64 was particularly disappointing since he only hit you with his umbrella where as other versions he would shoot bullets from it.

  • Was it possible to get 100% on this level. I only got 99%

  • That's as far as I ever got, as well.

  • I cant remember but i think u could use the games disk back in the bat cave too?

lol @ 6:13, down the dead end of the dark alley:

    "You now have the TRANIES"

If they added an extra N to that, it would put an unusual twist on the game! :P

  • Brings back so much memories.

Was a great rush to like eventually find your way into the buildings, as if youre in a secret hideout place as a kid.

This game had such a unique style of cutting between scenes love the way theyre left shadowed in the background.

I used prefer this campaign because it was the only one i could beat!

    Laffer your videos are great!

  • aww the memories :)

  • One of the best looking games on the c64 love the comic book panel look of the game

  • I love this game... thanks...

  • It's annoying how to music starts from the beginning everytime you pick stuff up or go to the inventory.

  • I like the environments in the Joker campaign better though.. I always had a thing for evil funparks :D

  • Nice, I was going to do this, but now I don't have to. The Penguin campaign is more fun than the Joker one for the silly reason of being able to kick people down from the buildings. I never managed to finish either campaign. This is a very nice game.

How about adding Batman The Movie?
