It makes me question the rumors about her vocal deterioration post-1996 and wonder if her workaholic tendencies were causing hoarse voice, and if negative emotions from her divorce and subsequent breakdown were impeding her performance ability. We all know anxiety, nerves, etc. can restrict oxygen flow and make singing and performing more difficult. In the Home for the Holidays performances she seems peaceful and happy, and her strong voice reflects it! :-)

For instance, She Ain't You by Chris Brown, it's a good song, yet I can't help but think that by using someone elses beat, that it shows a lack of creativity on his part. @BrockeyJamerz Mariah has WRITTEN more number one songs than anyone except Paul McCartney and John Lennon. 17 out of her 18 number ones were her original songs which she wrote. There is this perception that Mariah does a lot of covers but she doesn't. Also, she recorded I'll Be There for a live MTV Unplugged album as an extra back when she had only released 3 albums - it's common for artists to cover songs early in their career on tour and at live shows.

Mariahs voice is so flexible here! People say thats shes lost her voice now, but thats not true. She just needs to rest. When she was promoting memeoirs she had less than 3 hours sleep in 3 days and thats gonna take a toll on your voice. One ting I would say is her MIGHT have a little flexibility.

Plus they called her last minute, she accepted immediately though she had not rested and the time of the day was terrible for her voice. Then on her arrival they told her she was the first act and sent her right to the stage.That's why she wore what she wore and sounded like that.
