When I hear this song, I think about ancient Greek slaves for some reason. I think that no matter how miserable I might be, I'd still rather be alive than not. I don't know what the song is actually about at all, but that's just what I think of.
are they famous or no? i've never heard of them until i went to barnes and noble. There they were when i was browsing for music and i heard them. I started to like thier music. IM interested in them, they sound amazing!!!! i cant seem to get this song out of my heard i absoutely LOVE IT!! lmao
@Cassidy0297 there not one of those bands that you'll hears about on the news. they just make music and sell it in certain places like barnes and nobles.
@kiwicotton I'd immediately say, subjective, as many of the Winterpills songs are. Context provided by the listener. They tend to write more metaphorical songs, though philip has been known to write more literally in his solo efforts.
@kiwicotton could I offer my interpretation? I think on the one hand its about returned soldiers grieving, but in a broader spectrum its about all of us "green children" learning the secrets of mother nature only to abuse them, and now yearning to reconnect with the world but perhaps no longer able to as the last verse suggests.
I pretty much love winterpills. It makes me sad because as people have said it is so similar to Elliott Smith, who happens to be my inspiration as a musician. I hate that he can not be around anymore, but I am glad another sound is out there that is so like it.
I know right? They've been my favorite for a long time now, and I think they could really use more popularity as an incentive to make more excellent songs. It's a shame and a gift too, I'm so glad to know such a great obscure group.
Saw these guys play in an art studio in NJ today and they where unbelievable. One of the best, if not the best indie band out today. Thanks so much guys, can't wait for the new cd.
Thank you this is a great band. I just can not get enough of them. Have both cds. I am so taken by the flow and feel that this group puts out. The music is heart felt and real. Thank you for this video and to Winterpills for the wonderous music.

I listen to this song everyday, almost 50 times a day. (according to my iPhone.)
I still don't understand the words. Does anyone know what this song means?

This is beautiful, and melancholy, and relevant, and bittersweet, and wonderful. I love it.

So like an Elliott Smith tune that he didn't live to write. Love this sound.

Love this song, sounds exactly like Iron & Wine to me, but probably even better. Don't know why Winterpills hasn't gotten more attention.
